Arsenal – Everton

1. Welcome to coverage of today's huge Premier League clash between Arsenal and Everton at the Emirates Stadium. Kick-off is at 1945GMT.

2. Arsenal team: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla, Walcott, Giroud.

3. Everton team: Howard, Baines, Gibson, Jagielka, Mirallas, Distin, Barkley, Pienaar, Coleman, Fellaini, Anichebe.

4. Arsenal substitutes: Mannone, Vermaelen, Monreal, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gervinho, Podolski.

6. Arsenal welcome back Szczesny, Mertesacker and Walcott into the team at the expense of Fabianski, Vermaelen and Gervinho. Everton make one change, with Barkley coming in for Osman.

7. A vital game for both teams tonight. Arsenal and Everton really need to win as they chase a top-four spot and Champions League football next season.

8. Everton have not won at Arsenal in the league since January 1996, while the Gunners have won 16 out of 20 of those meeting since then.

    Everton look to attack straight away through Anichebe but Sagna does well to dispossess the striker and clear the danger.

    The Emirates is the only Premier League stadium that Everton have yet to win a game at.

    Fellaini does well to win possession off Ramsey but he then proceeds to foul Arteta and Arsenal win a free-kick.

    Arsenal get the ball down the other end of the pitch and Ramsey picks it up in space on the right. He tries to deliver a cross but it sails out for a goal kick.

    Barkley picks out the run of Mirallas into the Arsenal box but the attacker is closed down by Koscielny and Mertesacker and the ball runs out for the goal kick.

    A very feisty start to this game with the ball flying about all over the place. Everton will be pleased with how the opening exchanges have gone for them.

    Fellaini is playing in a much deeper role for Everton than usual. It is Barkley who is playing the nearest to Anichebe.

    Coleman picks out the run of Pienaar with a fine ball to split open the Arsenal defence but the midfielder can only send his effort over the bar with Szczesny coming out to put him off. The ball looked to have bobbled just in front of the South African.

    Everton putting Arsenal under a lot of pressure at the moment. The home side are struggling to get out of their own half.

    Pienaar plays in Anichebe but the striker is unable to get past Mertesacker.

    Gibson picks the ball up on the right and swings a dangerous ball into the middle but Szczesny does well to smother it. Arsenal are a little rattled at the moment.

    Fellaini brings down Ramsey for the free-kick. He will have to be careful as he has already fouled Wilshere. He won't want an early yellow card considering he is playing in the middle of the park.

    Baines in plenty of space down the left. The full-back whips in a cross and picks out Fellaini but the Belgian fails to get enough contact on his header.

    Moyes will be delighted with his side's start. They have been spraying the ball around all over the pitch and really working the Arsenal defence.

    Cazorla with his first real contribution to the game as he beats a man before laying the ball across the face of the area from the left. But nobody is there to meet the delivery.

    Everton with 55% of the possession so far...

    Barkley drives forward for Everton and decides to have a go from distance but his shot is blocked. He has started brightly.

    Both teams giving the ball away far too easily there. Play is eventually brought to a halt with Cazorla down hurt following a challenge from Barkley.

    Cazorla is ok and returns to the pitch after some treatment.

    The referee is letting the play flow and ignoring a lot of heavy challenges. Barkley took out Wilshere there, but did win the ball.

    Wenger is letting his feelings be known to the fourth official over the type of tackles that the Everton players have been putting in.

    Arsenal gain possession but Cazorla soon loses it under little pressure. The home side have yet to really settle down since this game started.

    Giroud is penalised for a small tug on Coleman. That will do little to lighten Wenger's mood at the moment.

    So just over 20 minutes gone then, and its Everton who have created the one real chance of the game through Pienaar.

    Arsenal attack through Ramsey. Giroud picks the ball up and tries to slot in Wilshere but just overhits the pass and Howard is able to claim it.

    Tremendous pressure from Everton so far. They are giving Arsenal no space or time when they receive the ball. How long can they keep this high energy up for though?

    Fellaini plays a suicidal ball across his area. It falls to Cazorla who tees up Gibbs on the edge of the box. The left-back makes some space for himself before shooting but it was always sailing over the bar. A let-off for Everton.

    Arsenal starting to play some real football now. The home crowd are responding which can only help the Gunners.

    Ramsey brought down near the area by Mirallas but the referee waves play on. It did not look like a foul.

    Arsenal's turn to put the pressure on Everton when in possession. They have got them boxed in right by their penalty box.

    Wilshere sends in the free-kick but it misses his target and Fellaini is able to head clear the danger under little pressure.

    Some nice work from Jagielka as he comes forward before picking out Coleman in space on the right. The full-back sends in a cross but Arteta is there to hook the ball away to safety.

    Stat: Everton have netted 15 goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half of Premier League games; more than any other side.

    Fantastic counter-attack by Everton but it is soon brought to an end due to a Mirallas offside.

    Ramsey looks to spot the run of Gibbs down the left from distance but the pass runs out for a throw. The pace of this game has yet to let up.

    Gibson takes out Walcott once again with a painful collision. No booking. A lucky man or he would be off. Everton's challenges have been very, very heavy so far. Wenger furious.

    Arsenal really starting to crank up the pressure on Everton now. The Toffees are the ones struggling to break out of their own half.

    Considering we have yet to see a shot on target, this has been a very entertaining and watchable game.

    We've seen one now as Barkley has a pop from distance but he was never troubling Szczesny who makes a routine save.

    Barkley drives forward and slots in Anichebe but Gibbs gets a vital touch just as the striker was about to pull the trigger, allowing Szczesny to make the save.

    Distin plays a long ball into Anichebe in the box but Koscielny does very well to outmuscle him and put in the challenge.

    Arsenal counter as Cazorla plays in Ramsey down the right. The Welshman picks out Giroud in the middle who gets to the ball before Howard but can only send it wide. He had to score there.

    Some nice work from Baines sees Pienaar eventually try to fire a cross into the box from the byline on the left but it goes straight to Szczesny.

    Wilshere does brilliantly to beat a man and play in Cazorla. The Spaniard does even better as he waltzes past his marker into the box but Jagielka arrives with a superb tackle.

    Baines sends in a fine cross into the Arsenal box but Koscielny does well to get the header in before Anichebe can make contact.

    Sagna finds himself in plenty of space down the right and sends in a first-time cross but it is poor and lands straight at the feet of Howard.

    And there goes the half-time whistle. A thrilling encounter with both sides showing real commitment and really going for it. Both have had chances to score, and the game is finely balanced.

    There was a bit of trouble as the players went into the tunnel at half-time after Mirallas squirted some water at Wilshere, with the midfielder taking it the wrong way.

    Mirallas picks the ball up on the edge of the box after the Arsenal defence failed to deal with it. He has a go from distance but Szczesny makes a good save.

    Everton starting this half very much like they did the first. Putting Arsenal on the back foot and putting them under plenty of pressure when they have the ball.

    A superb move from Arsenal as Wilshere picks out Gibbs in the box with a lofted pas. The left-back tees up Cazorla who brings out a top save from Howard.

    An exciting first five minutes of the second half. This match really could go either way and you wouldn't want to call it.

    Arsenal push forward down the left through Gibbs who squares the ball to Giroud on the edge of the box but he snatches at his shot and it sails over the bar.

    Walcott knocks the ball past Distin and looks to have beaten him only for a fine recovering tackle from the Everton defender.

    Everton drive forward through Barkley who picks out Baines down the left. The full-back whips a cross into the box but Mertesacker is there to clear with the diving header.

    Everton win a free-kick in a dangerous position. Baines steps up...

    Baines sends a fine ball into the box but Anichebe just fails to get enough contact on it. Should have done better.

    Pienaar is brought down on the edge of the box by Arteta after Wilshere failed to deal with a Coleman cross.

    Barkley picks up the ball about 35 yards out from goal and decides to shoot. He gets it horribly wrong though and it sails wide for the goal kick.

    Cazorla feeds in Ramsey down the right but he struggles to bring the ball under control and it runs out for the goal kick.

    Sagna picks up the ball down the right in plenty of space. He tries to find Giroud in the box but the striker has no chance as it sails right into Howard's arms.

    Just over the hour mark now. Both managers must be starting to think about making a change soon.

    Fellaini feeds Mirallas down the left. The winger is given far too much space and his cross into the box deflects off for the corner.

    Baines whips in the corner but it is poor and he fails to beat the first man.

    Barkley picks up the ball on the edge of the box and sidesteps Wilshere before curling an effort just wide of the top corner. Great strike.

    Arteta tries to play the ball back to his defence but it hits the referee, much to the annoyance of the home crowd.

    Arsenal win another corner after Distin heads clear Sagna's delivery with Giroud waiting to pounce.

     Everton's turn to attack now as Mirallas cuts in from the left and looks to fire a shot at goal only for some desperate defending from the Gunners.

123. What a game. There may have been no goals, but it was exciting from start to finish. Both teams gave it their all and had opportunities to secure the three points, but a draw was probably about right.
