Manchester United – Manchester City

Live updates will appear from 1945 GMT.

Hello and welcome to tonight's live commentary for the big match at Old Trafford.

It's likely to be the most fiercely contested League Cup semi-final in recent memory tonight, and Carlos Tevez will be eager to deliver further pain to his former employers.

United: Edwin van der Sar, Rafael, Patrice Evra, Jonathan Evans, Rio Ferdinand, Nani, Darren Fletcher, Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney.

City: Shay Given, Micah Richards, Dedryck Boyata, Vincent Kompany, Javier Garrido, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Pablo Zabaleta, Gareth Barry, Nigel De Jong, Craig Bellamy, Carlos Tevez.

It's one man up front for both teams and City have a defensive looking midfield trio of Barry, Zabaleta and De Jong.

Adebayor is on the bench for City but there's no place in the squad for Robinho, who looks certain to leave the club to return to Brazil in the coming days.

United, meanwhile, have a very strong bench, with Berbatov, Owen, Vidic, Park, Valencia and Brown all available to come on.

Howard Webb blows his whistle and United get the match underway.

Giggs misplaces a pass back towards Tevez, but the Argentinean is easily crowded out. First mistake of the match.

Bellamy bursts down the left and wins a corner as he looks to put the ball across the face of goal.

Ferdinand's arm did appear to strike Tevez's shoulder and maybe face, although the striker seemed to be holding his nose.

Giggs makes a mazy run and wins a free-kick out on the left.

The free-kick is whipped into the area but City clear with few problems.

One minute of added time.

It's half-time and it's goal-less.

City will be happy with the events of the first 45 minutes as United struggled to create clear opportunities. Sir Alex Ferguson may look to give Rooney a striker partner for the second half.

At least that appeared to be the case - it may have actually been a much smaller object. Regardless, the corner is cleared.

Poor effort from Giggs.

GOAL FOR CITY!
