Chelsea – Manchester United

1. Welcome to tonight's live commentary offering of Chelsea v Man Utd. The teams are in and we're half an hour away from kick-off.

2. This was meant to be the title decider until a series of slip-ups from Chelsea gifted the trophy to their fierce rivals from Old Trafford. But with no trophy to play for, pride is very much at stake for the Londoners who will be keen to upset the visitors this evening.

3. No surprises in the line-ups. Manchester United make eight changes from their win at Man City with a host of lesser-known players given a run out. Chelsea also make changes but John Terry, Claude Makelele and Salomon Kalou all feature.

4. We're all eagerly awaiting the players' arrival and the much-talked about guard of honour. It may be a new tradition for Mourinho but the Chelsea players are expected to pay respect to the new Premiership champions before the kick-off.

5. The players are in the tunnel and John Terry takes his side out to pay tribute to their successors to the title.

6. And here they come. Gabriel Heinze, yes Heinze leads them through the guard of honour. Nice touch from the Blues and well observed by all.

7. Chelsea get the game under way.

   The Chelsea fans are doing their best to put a brave face on their recent grief. They're singing away in the stands and creating a great atmosphere.

   Chelsea enjoy the best of the opening passages of play. A few nice touches from Mikel and Sinclair get Chelsea moving.

    Dong embarks on a solo run straight at the heart of the Chelsea defence and is halted in his tracks by Mikel. He had the opportunity to shoot earlier and his indecision cost him a pop on goal.

    Lovely move from Chelsea brings the first clear-cut chance of the game as Essien finds Wright-Phillips with a wonderful pass. The winger took it beautifully and his stab at goal was only denied by Kuszczak's fine save.

    Another chance for Wright-Phillips but this time his header bounces harmlessly wide under the telling challenge of Wes Brown.

    Encouraging run down the right wing from young Scott Sinclair as he ghosts past Kieran Lee. Mourinho will be pleased with his winger's start so far.

    Chelsea dominating the first 10 minutes. They have the greater incentive to gain a victory and are showing more ambition so far.

    Great atmosphere inside Stamford Bridge. It's their last game here this season and they're keen to show appreciation for their players' efforts this campaign.

    No real pattern to United's game so far. Things aren't coming together so far.

    Wright-Phillips almost catches out Kuszczak with a cross-cum-shot from deep on the right. It was looping over the keeper and just dropped on to the roof of the net.

    Chelsea dominating the possession so far and Sinclair sees a shot fly over after bar from 25 yards.

    A nasty scene erupts as Mikel lunges into Eagles and leaves him in a heap on the deck. He gets a yellow card for his troubles and tempers fray with Alan Smith in the middle of a mini ruck.

    Graham Poll is in danger of letting this game spiral out of control. A few nasty exchanges on the pitch are followed up by more of the same on the benches.

    Richardson rushes a shot from 20-odd yards out when unchallenged. A clear opening for the Englishman and a wasted chance.

    The pace has increased at last, with both sides looking to break and counter.

    The officials have made some peculiar decisions with both sides forunate to earn free-kicks in dangerous areas.

    A coming together of heads from a corner involving Terry and Kuszczak leaves both men needing treatment. Kuszczak looks to have got himself a shiner, while Terry strolls back to his defence.

    Chelsea still controlling the territory and pace of the game. Man Utd are struggling to impose themselves on the hosts and the Blues look far the more likely to break the deadlock.

    Another incisive move from Chelsea almost presents Kalou with a chance in the United box. Wright-Phillips and Mikel combine well but the ball doesn't quite reach the striker who was ready to pounce.

    Kalou is working hard up front and showing some neat touches but has not yet made the impact Mourinho would have liked.

    Better from United. A promising spell on the ball culminates in a chance for Heinze. He reacts to a defelected Smith shot but fails to wrap his foot around the boot and his half volley fires wide.

    Scrambled effort from Makelele drops wide when he should have hit the target. The ball dropped to him on the edge of the area and he smashed it left-footed three feet wide.

    Kuszczak is in the wars tonight. After taking a bruising from Terry, he now falls awkwardly on his ankle, prompting Edwin van der Sar to warm-up on the United bench. Kuszczak should be ok to continue though.

    A dour end to the half as both teams go through the motions with the break imminent.

    Dong gets a brief sight of goal and decides to have a go from all of 35 yards out. Unsurprisingly it sails well over the bar.

    The players are back out for the second half and Joe Cole comes on for Jon Obi Mikel in the only change at the break.

    An immediate booking for Kieran Lee. That's two bookings tonight. The latest one for a mis-timed challnge on Joe Cole.

    And another booking. This Time Wes Brown goes in late on Sinclair as the winger beat Brown for pace down the right flank.

    United start the second half far better than they did the first. Some quick passing and moving forces Chelsea on to the back foot temporarily.

    Graham Poll is getting a bit carried away here. Another card comes out, this time for Diarra for a cheeky trip on Eagles. No real need for a card but Poll has no doubts.

    Richardson goes close to finding the net with a sweetly struck free-kick that whips round the wall but drops just wide. Decent hit but Cudicini had it covered.

    United fans break out into a rendition of 'Champions, champions. They're enjoying their evening and rightly so.

    Scott Sinclair's match comes to an unfortunate end. He picked up an injury in the challenge with Brown and limps off to be replaced by Ben Sahar.

    Silly yellow card for Essien this time. I'm losing count of the cards but Essien can't complain too much after throwing the ball away.

    A mass brawl breaks out with players getting involved after Eagles' late lunge on Wright-Phillips stirs up the hostility inside Stamford Bridge. That's seven bookings now.

    A far quicker pace now with both teams taking the game to the other side more. The bookings have certainly added some spice to the clash.

    With the senior players missing from the line-up, Man United are lacking the creative spark to launch an assault on Cudicini's goal. But they have upped their workrate this half.

    Dangerous cross from Wright-Phillips forces Brown to head up and over his own bar. Nothing comes of the corner, but Chelsea doing most of the pressing.

    A change for United sees Michael Carrick come on for Heinze who hands over the skipper's armband over to Wes Brown.

    Chelsea look to have three in the attacking line-up. They look as if they want to nick this one now.

    Wright-Phillips stings the hands of Kuszczak with a mid-height drive. Good save from the keeper.

    Chelsea are working their opponents around the ground and searching for a breakthrough, but United are standing firm so far.

    A low drive from Kalou forces Kuszczak to dive low to his left and repel the bouncing shot. Nice effort but comfortable for Kuszczak.

    Fine challenge from Fletcher denies Kalou a scoring opportunity. He timed it perfectly inside the box and cleanly cleared the ball to safety.

    The game is starting to become stretched now and the introduction of the subs has made the game more fractured.

    A show of petulance from Jose Mourinho has landed himself a seat away from the dugout. But what's this Jose climbs back on to the bench and retakes his seat. Confusion, but plenty of frustration too from the Blues boss.

    Great effort from Diarra almost bends in from 25 yards. It was arching towards the far corner before Kuszczak gets his fingertips on the ball and makes the save.

    Chelsea still pressing and pushing for a face-saving winner. Kuszczak has done well though so far and is keen to keep a clean sheet against the Blues.

    Manchester United fans continue with their relentless beiting of the Chelsea faithful. Their team haven't done much on the pitch but the Red Devils off it have been superb.

    Kuszczak almost hands Chelsea a winner. He drops a corner allowing Terry a head on goal. It's then cleared off the line in a desperate goal scramble.

    Chelsea laying siege on the United goal in these closing stages. United can't get out of their own half and are pinned in their box trying to repel the waves of attacks.

    Clearance off the line saves United from losing this dull affair. Kieran Lee sticks out his knee to deny Sahar's volley with Kuszczak stranded.
