1. The first South Coast Derby at Fratton Park in years and the tension is mounting. Join us at 16.05 GMT for all the action.

2. At a blustery Fratton Park the home team will have to make do without Eyal Berkovic due to injury - Matthew Taylor his replacement. James Beattie - with four goals against the Saints' south coast rivals already this season - starts along side Kevin Phillips. Michael Svensson pulled a muscle in the warm up and his place will be taken by Stephen Crainey - Fitz Hall promoted to the bench.

   Yakubu uses his strength well against the Saints' back line and forces Dodd into conceding a throw by the corner flag

   Portsmouth pressure allows Stone to whip in a dangerous cross that just eludes the head of Yakubu in the swirling wind

   Frenetic early pace as you would expect in a match between these two clubs. Mistakes by both sides

   First strike on goal comes from Pompey. Stone, striding forward is tackled by Higginbotham but the ball runs into the path of Taylor on the right. Snap shot from 20 yards is easily held by Neimi

   Long diagonal ball finds Stone right in the far right hand corner. Cuts back inside but the cross is a poor one

   Sherringham turns on the right wing and flights a decent looking ball to the far post where Lundekvam is forced to head behind to deny Yakubu a clear chance

    The wind and patchy rain is making for difficult playing conditions

    Stone finds Yakubu on the edge of the Saints box with his back to goal. Tries to chest it down and turn but the ball just won't drop for him

    A tussel between Lundekvam and Yakubu just outside the box sees Pompey awarded a free kick and a great shooting opportunity

    Taylor steps up and fires his effort straight at the feet of the Southampton wall. Wasted chance

    Phillips does well to hold off the attention of Primus and several others to retain possession in midfield

    Promising Southampton break down the left wing is halted by Stone placing a perfectly timed challenge on McCann

    A Saints' attack breaks down and a Sherringham punt forward gives Yakubu something to chase but Lundekvam is in close proximity and shepherds the ball back to Neimi

    Hopeful cross from Dodd into the box is high and looping. Anyones ball until Primus rises highest and clears well

    Real chance for Pompey. Sherringham wins a knock down for Yakubu in the box. It is behind him but the striker has plenty of time to swing his leg round it. He does but the effort is weak and Neimi gratefully collects

    Portsmouth enjoying a good spell of pressure

    Again, Yakubu wastes a glorious chance to score. Through on his own inside the box on the left he curls a shot beyond the reach of Niemi but also wide of the upright. Really, really should have scored - although replays show he should have been flagged offside

    If they don't score soon, Portsmouth only have themselves to blame. This time Sherringham gets a clear sight of goal, in space, in the box, but can't control the pass and fumbles the opportunity.

    First Southampton strike on goal. Delap is given plenty of time and space outside the area to line up a shot. Low and hard but Hislop is well positioned to make the save

    A carbon copy chance for Delap who this time beats the dive of Hislop but the drive is a foot wide of the left hand post

    The noise level, if not the skill level of the game has been consistently high

    Phillips pulls out wide right and sends in a quick cross towrds the near post. Deplap is arriving and tries to angle a header to the far corner but only manages to put it a long way wide of the mark

    Yakubu is clear on goal from a ball over the top but is flagged offside

    Southampton just starting to get back into it after suffering a spell of intense Pompey pressure

    Taylor wins possession 35 yards out from goal and swings his right foot at it. The result shows just how left footed he is as the ball flies well over the crossbar and into the crowd

    Smertin breaks into acres of space on the right but his first time cross is wasteful

    A little bit of needle coming into the match as the tackles continue to bite

    Phillips tries his luck from a long, long way out and, whilst it is on target, it never troubles Hislop

    Mistake by Dodd gives Stone the chance to cross. Yakubu wins the header at the far post but a foul is called against him

    Long ball into the box is headed down by McCann but Phillips is falling backwards as he skies the ball over the bar

    The wind is still causing problems as a long free-kick from Dodd is just too long and goes out for a Pompey goal-kick

    Wonderful, reverse pass from Smertin dissects the Saints' back line and puts Stone one-on-one with the keeper. Neimi closes down well and saves but the whistle has gone already for offside

    Free-kick from the right touchline by Southampton is attacked by a lot of red and white shirts. The ball deflects off a number of players before going behind for a goal-kick

    Beattie, getting the first real decent service he has had in the match so far, rises well to win a header that he just fails to direct goalwards

    Hislop has to be alert as Beattie charges down a clearance and very nearly puts Phillips away before the keeper gets out of his area and clears upfield

    Stone wins a corner through sheer persistence down the right flank

    Faye is the target for the deep cross but the weight on it is too strong and the Pompey man has little chance with the header

    A full blooded and committed affair as you would expect from these two rivals but the football has not matched the passion. Portsmouth should have scored on a number of occasions early on and it will be Southampton who are the happiest to see the scores level. Will Pompey be made to pay for their profligacy when Southampton have the wind behind them in the second half...?

    Yakubu gets the ball at his feet just outsid ethe box. Dips a shoulder then cuts back to create a shooting chance but the powerful drive goes well over

    Free-kick over 40 yards out, with the wind at his back tempts Beattie to line up a shot

    Beattie runs up, tops it and the ball bobbles forward to safety from a Pompey point of view

    Ball over from out by the right corner flag from Crainey is delivered to a good area but no Saints man is able to attack it properly

    Pompey free-kick from the corner of the 18 yard box is swung in and Neimi takes no chances, rather acrobaticaly leaping to tip it round for a corner

    Pompey retain possession and Sherringham, twisting and turning in the box finds space to get a shot away. It is low and on target but Neimi reads it all the way

    Great deep cross from the Portsmouth left gets past everyone except the outstretched leg of Smertin but he is unable to direct the volley back across the goal

    Dodd bends a cross into the pompey box where the home team are defending very deep. Beattie comes shorter and gets a head to it but, stretching for it, the ball loops just over the target

    Fairly decent move from Southampton sees Beattie forced out wide right before delivering a cross towards the near post that is too close to Hislop to cause any threat

    Shot from distance on the volley from Phillips rather sums up the match as it only just goes for a goal kick instead of a throw in. This game is a poor one

    Good work from Pahars across the edge of the box provides Delap with a shooting chance from the D. His effort is blocked by the outstretched leg of Primus but only as far as Phillips. His shot is powerful but the angle is acute and Hislop is able to block at his near post

    Phillips controls a long, raking pass fantastically on his chest to skip past Primus and bear down on goal. Great chance but Hislop is out of the traps quickly and smothers the shot. Great save

    Southampton just edging into the game as it draws to a finish but it will be a disgrace if they get back into it

    Taylor draws a great save from Niemi as he blasts a straight rising shot on goal. Neimi is strong and alert to tip the ball over his crossbar

    Decent move from the home side leads to Taylor feeding LuaLua by the penalty spot but Lundekvam stands up strong to deny him space to turn

    Controversy as Prutton and Smertin clash in a 50-50 and the Russian reacts as if shot

    Looked to be six of one and half a dozen of the other but it is Prutton who is the only one to see yellow

    Phillips rattles the post with an acrobatic volley after Beattie wins a header from a huge punt upfield. The ball bounced in front of Phillips and he got his body over the ball exceptionally well to power a clean strike past a static Hislop - only for the the post to save the keeper

    Corner for Southampton is deliver at pace and Lundekvam arrives to meet it. The defender gets over the ball and directs the header down but Hislop does well to drop to his right and hold the ball on the line

    Final whistle sounds and it is Portsmouth who claim the points and local bragging rights with a 1-0 victory over their neighbours. in truth, they were the better team from start to finish in a match that was high on tension and passion but lacked skill. The conditions made it difficult for both sides to play expansive football but Southampton offered very little whilst Pompey dealt with the weather just a little better.
