Good afternoon everyone and welcome to live coverage of Chelsea's FA Cup fourth round tie with Everton. It kicks off a bumper weekend of action in the best cup competition in the world.

Everton: Howard, Neville, Heitinga, Distin, Baines, Coleman, Arteta, Fellaini, Rodwell, Bilyaletdinov, Saha. Subs: Mucha, Hibbert, Jagielka, Beckford, Gueye, Osman, Baxter.

The big story of the day is <a href="http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/872407/chelsea-prepare-L40m-offer-for-fernando-torres?cc=5739" target="_blank">Fernando Torres' transfer request</a> which has knocked the wind of Liverpool's sails after their capture of Luis Suarez.

The teams come out and Chelsea are boosted by the return of Frank Lampard.

My Soccernet colleague Mark Lomas has sneaked his way into Goodison Park's press box and he'll be filing updates throughout the match. Here he is now: Rousing welcome for the players here at Goodison. My cab driver on the way to the ground was complaining about early kick-offs, saying that it puts Everton fans off coming. Well, it seems pretty packed here today, and to be fair, the driver was a Liverpool fan!

<b>KICK OFF</b>

An interesting stat: Chelsea have won just one of the last six meetings between the two teams. And when they met in last year's final at Wembley, Everton were already ahead by now.

Baines has space to cross on the left but it is right at Cech. And I should tell you, the game is live on ESPN UK.

Ashley Cole successfully shepherds the ball back to Cech under pressure from Seamus Coleman.

First Chelsea effort on goal as Drogba tries a curler but it lacked power and was right at Howard.

<i>Mark Lomas at Goodison Park:</i> Saha could be the key man today - he's caused Chelsea some problems over the past few years and has scored six goals in his last seven appearances against them.

A congested period of possession for Chelsea in the middle of the park.

Phil Neville has barged into Malouda twice now, much to the ire of Ancelotti.

Lovely deep cross from Bilyaletdinov, Coleman meets it but no-one is near his knock down.

Two very unlikely events. A piece of trickery from Phil Neville, then Ashley Cole clears against his own face and hands Everton a throw.

From the throw a chance for Bilyaletdinov, as Saha flicked on he couldn't get a strong enough connection to beat Cech from seven yards out.

Decent work from Drogba, who tries to turn Heitinga and wins a corner.

Saha clears the corner but Lampard feeds Ramires and his cross is volleyed high and wide by Essien.

Good delivery from Lamaprd after Chelsea win a free kick and Fellaini gets up to flick it behind for a corner.

From the corner Terry flashes a header just over the bar.

<i>Mark Lomas at Goodison Park:</i> 17 minutes for the first real chance of the game, it's far from a classic so far. The most interesting piece of action so far has been when Ancelotti responded to chants of 'Carlo, give us a wave' with a very camp, enthusiastic piece of hand gesticulation!

Its fair to say the game needs a goal. Or two.

The best chance of the game by a mile. Rodwell powers through the middle and gets a low shot away but Cech stands firm and blocks it.

Then Chelsea streak down the other end with Malouda and Neville comes across. Finally, signs of life.

Two chances in a matter of minutes as Bilyaletdinov has a free header ten yards out but can only plant it right at Cech.

Now Lampard releases Anelka but he is offside, and he hit the post anyway.

Phil Neville gets a final warning from Howard Webb after clipping Malouda, then barging Terry. He's got away with plenty.

Lovely run from Ramires as he swaps passes with Drogba and releases Anelka, but just like Rodwell's effort, Howard saves with his legs.

Poor from Malouda as he picks out Coleman with a cross when Drogba and ANelka were forward.

Neat work from Coleman who cuts inside two players then shanks his cross behind for a goal kick. If this was Championship manager the commentary would read: 'Great play until the finish.'

Powerful effort from Malouda and Howard dives across to save. It was going marginally wide the replay shows.

A free header for John Terry but there wasn't too much pace on it and JC loops it over the bar.

Lampard again looks for a ball to release Anelka but Coleman was on his toes and intercepted.

Saha is penalised for backing into Terry, but Terry was the one who clattered him with his forearm. Tricky one.

Drogba brings down Heitinga, and quickly picks him up again.

A great burst from Ramires but he can't pick out the right ball.

<i>Mark Lomas at Goodison Park:</i> Arteta is a peripheral figure at the moment and is getting frustrated. He wants (and for Everton's sake, needs) to see more of the ball and just threw his hands up in the air in disgust when he was in acres of space and no-one passed to him.

Nice exchange between Anelka and Bosingwa, but the former's cross deflects into Howard's grateful arms.

Arteta gets more involved there but his low shot is watched wide by Cech.

Drogba tries a shot on goal from a free kick from 40 yards and Coleman takes it in the face. He looks groggy too. An ambitious effort to say the least.

<b>HALF TIME </b> The best you can say is that the game got better as the half went on. Good chances for Rodwell and Anelka but they were denied by the legas of both goalkeepers.

Mark Lomas at Goodison Park: <i>What a miserable first half - much as I hate using rubbish football cliches, this game really needs a goal to get it going. There will probably be more action in the queue for a bacon butty in the press room than there has been on the pitch!</i>

Don't worry Mark, I used that cliche not 20 minutes ago!

<b>KICK OFF</b> No changes to either side as we restart.

News from the other early kick off and Aston Villa lead Blackburn 2-1 after 37 minutes minutes. Robert Pires has just scored for Villa, after Kalinic had equalised Ciaran Clark's opener.

And it is half time at Swansea where the home side are drawing 1-1 with Leyton Orient.

As you can tell, there is very little to report from the opening stages of the second period at Goodison.

We've got the Asian Cup final between Australia and Japan kicking off at 3pm too. We'll have all the action in MatchDay Live from 2.15pm right after this game.

Finally some action. Rodwell gets into the area, Ivanovic does well to hold him up, but his cross finds Saha at the back post and from a narrow angle his volley is blocked by Bosingwa.

It is Everton that have started the brighter. Chelsea under pressure.

Coleman wins a free kick and Arteta swings it in. Fellaini gets up and Cech palms it over the bar.

Cech claims the corner.

Another goal at Villa Park, as Nathan Delfouneso makes it 3-1 to the home side. Four goals already there *sigh*

Back in the land of gritty reality, Arteta flashes a shot wide of the post off the side of his boot. I'd expect better from him.

Arteta is clattered by Ramires. Nasty.

More pressure from Everton as Neville flashes in a cross and Ivanovic hacks clear.

Seven in his last eight game against Chelsea for Saha as he rises unchallenged to nod past Cech from six yards.

Neville's cross finds Bilyaletdinov at the back stick but his overhead kick sails high and wide.

Coleman breaks up play down the right and looks to break but Essien blocks him off. Strangely it is Neville who gets a talking to.

Ramires is down after banging into Fellaini, he wants a foul but it was hard for the Everton man to get out of the way. Probably was a free kick though.

Chelsea struggling to get a foothold in the game now. Their confidence is still fragile it seems.

A hoof from Distin finds Saha in the area and his touch across goal is cleared, unconvincingly, by Terry.

It's all gone quiet on the Mark Lomas front. Perhaps he has been ejected from the press box. Or his internet connection is down.

The holders are going out, at the hands of last year's beaten finalists, unless they produce something in the next 20 minutes.

An aimless whack from Terry is collected by Howard.

Coleman does well to win a throw in by the corner flag. Signs of frustration from Cole.

Double chance for Coleman! He meets Baines' cross with a downward header that Cech saves, then Essien flies in front of Coleman as he tries to slot the rebound and diverts the ball over the bar. Great defending.

He's only been on for three minutes but he has levelled things up. After the corner Chelsea break, Kalou has Lampard on the overlap but takes it early and dribbles his shot into the corner.

Neville crosses deep again and Everton have another corner.

Again Chelsea break after clearing the corner and it ends with Anelka's low shot being gathered by Howard.

Still Everton press but Chelsea clear the latest corner. Coleman is felled on the edge of the box but Webb lets play go on.

Drogba is rolling around after he was caught, innocently, by Fellaini's arm as he turned the striker. Get up man.

Baines' corner looks like it is heading for Distin but he doesn't make contact.

Drogba has been off for treatment, even though there was no blood, and is now back on and moaning.

Ramires fires in a fizzing shot that smashes against the base of the post. Great effort.

A brilliant run from Baines nearly tees up Saha but Chelsea clear.

A mistake from Ivanovic presents Beckford with an opportunity but his volley is tipped over smartly by Cech.

Three minutes to be added...

Drogba goes down limply, Everton think about putting it out, don't but then a stray pass goes out and Chelsea continue, winning a corner.

Drogba, who has recovered, takes the corner and Essien nods wide.

<b>FULL TIME</b> Chelsea survive but Everton will feel like they let the Premier League champions off the hook. The tie will be settled by a replay.
