1. Hello. I'm Alex, and I'm going to help you through Everton's trip to Manchester United.

2. Some team news: Cristiano Ronaldo and John O'Shea are dropped after Manchester United's dismal Champions League failure.

3. Mikael Silvestre keeps his place in a United side lacking Ruud van Nistelrooy through suspension, while former Old Trafford favourite Phil Neville is included for the visitors.

4. United kick off this Premiership match, to a great roar from their fans.

   The home side start this match under quite a lot of pressure following their exit from the Champions League this week.

6. 1'

   The Reds win an early corner when Rooney is tackled 30 yards out and the ball spins behind. A chance to put some pressure on the visitors.

7. 2'

   OOOH! The corner is half-cleared to Scholes; he blasts a low shot from 25 yards, Ferdinand tries to deflect the ball goalwards, but he only turns the ball across the face and Everton clear.

   It was a great strike by Scholes, who has been coming in to some good form of late.

   Rooney breaks down tbe left wing. He tries to cut the ball back to the edge of the area, but Phil Neville intercepts.

    CHANCE! Van Der Sar's awful clearance lands at the feet of Osman. He turns the ball to Beattie on the edge of the area, but Ferdinand blocks his shot.

    It's been a good, open start here at Old Trafford. Van Der Sar put his side in a whole heap of trouble there, and only Ferdinand's block prevented them going a goal down inside five mintues.

    Phil Neville is getting a good reception from the United fans; he was a good servant for the club in his 11 years here, playing over 400 games for Sir Alex.

    SAVE! Giggs plays the ball in low from the left. Saha mis-kicks from six yards out, but the ball finds its way to Smith; he cuts on to his right foot, but his shot is saved by Martyn from 10 yards.

    GOAL! Everton break at pace and with numbers. Kilbane goes on a long run, but is tackled on the edge of the area. The ball breaks to McFadden, who blasts a shot between Van Der Sar and the near post.

    There is a stunned silence at Old Trafford; United's defending was woeful there - Ferdinand and Neville got drawn to the ball, and McFadden as left in acres of space inside the penalty area.

    Giggs whips a free-kick in to the Everton penalty area, but Silvestre's flicked header flies high over the bar.

    It really has been a fantastic opening 10 minutes, with both teams pushing forward in great numbers. It's a very open game.

    Smith, short of ideas, lofts a ball forward, but it's easy for Wright to collect. The away fans are in great voice at the moment.

    Saha is brought down by Hibbert on the left wing. Richardson's set-piece is terrible, however, and Neville clears on the edge of the penalty area.

    Saha's header almost falls in to the path of Scholes, breaking in to the penalty area, but Yobo tracks the run and clears.

    Rooney goes on a good run, vutting in from the left wing and driving a shot goalwards, although Neville has shown good determination to stick with the former Everton striker, and is able to deflect his shot out for a corner.

    GREAT CHANCE! Scholes lays a super pass in to the feet of Rooney, 12 yards out. He has the time and space to turn, but he drags his shot horribly wide of the post.

    GOAL! Giggs finishes Scholes' beautiful lofted pass, wonderfully prodding the ball past Wright, first-time, on the volley. United are level.

    Great finish by Giggs, flicking inside the far post with the outside of his left foot after running on to Scholes' sublime through-ball.

    Smith is adjudged to have fouled Davies as the two jump for a high ball. The combative midfielder isn't happy with the decision, and lets the referee know it.

    United have been the better side since they went behind; the game is following a similar pattern to their recent game against West Ham - 1-0 down early, before coming back with some blistering football.

    Giggs' shot is deflected wide by Yobo, although the referee doesn't spot the touch by the Everton man and gives a goal-kick.

    Everton look a little less confident know that United are starting to come in to the game a little more; they started well, but are struggling to string their passes together at the moment.

    Rooney is up very early to try and win a header against Neville, flattening his former United colleague in the process. Free-kick.

    Weir lofts the ball in to the penalty area, but Smith and Neville combine to clear the danger.

    Everton have definitely lost their way a bit; they are starting to resort to long balls from back to front, looking for Beattie.

    Everton seem to have changed their formation a touch in the last couple of minutes, from a regular 4-4-2 to a 4-5-1, with Beattie up front on his own.

    Rooney is allowed the time to turn and run at the Everton defence, but his attempted through-ball to Park is intercepted.

    Rooney looks very eager to impress against his former club; he is getting a lot of the ball and is running at the Everton back four as often as he can.

    Park does excellently as he cuts in from the right wing, beating two Everton men, but he mis-kicks as he tries to shoot with his left-foot.

    SHOT! Wright tuns Neville's right-foot shot behind as it swerved inside the near post. Valente was caught out of position again there.

    HEADER! Giggs crosses the ball in from the right; Rooney soars to plant a header goalwards, although Wright claims just under his crossbar.

    Everton started so well, but they have conceded so much ground to the home side by giving away possession so easily in midfield.

    Ferdinand wins a couple of important headers inside his own penalty box as McFadden launches in a long throw.

    Everton mount a good counter-atatck down their right wing, though Van Der Sar easily saves McFadden's ambitious drive from the corner of the box.

    Although Everton aren't creating as much pressure on the United goal as they did at the start of the match, they have at least tightened-up their defence in recent minutes.

    But their problem is that, playing just Beattie up front means that the ball is coming back at them all too regularly.

    Scholes has been the undoubted star of this first half; the range and accuracy of his passes has been superb.

    HEADER! Again Rooney climbs highest at the back post to meet a cross from the right, although his header flies a yard or so over the crossbar. Good effort from the youngster.

    Saha and Giggs combine to make something of Ferdinand's long ball forward. Saha's cross from the left almost finds Rooney, but Yobo intercepts.

    ANOTHER HEADER! A superb United break; Giggs clips a great lofted pass in towards the run of Rooney, but this time his header from 10 yards ends in the hands of Wright.

    United have played some excellent football since they went a goal down, and Everton will be delighted to go in at half-time on even terms.

    Neville, who has worked tirelessly in the first half, blocks a shot from Saha, 25 yards out.

    United win a free-kick in a dangerous spot when Neville handballs, 30 yards out. Giggs stands over the ball...

    ...But his shot is straight at the wall, and Everton are able to see out the danger.

    Kilbane catches Saha with a trailing arm as the two challenged for a loose ball. The French striker needs a bit of treatment, but he is soon on his feet again.

    Everton win a free-kick out on the left wing when Neville is a little eager to get through Kilbane and put the ball out. A chance to swing in a dangerous cross...

    ...Davies curls the ball in, right-footed, but Smith is first to the header and is able to clear.

    Osman is booked as he trips and pulls down Giggs as the United man attempted to break on the left wing.

    HALF-TIME: Everton stunned United with an early goal, but Fergie's side responded well. It should be a good second half, with plenty to play for.

    Everyone's back out on the field. Everton kick off the second half. There have been no changes by either side at the break.

    United will be looking to get to the tempo they reached just after they equalised, when they were all over Everton; they just took their foot off the gas a little after that.

    SAVE! Wright makes an excellent save at his near post as he turns Giggs' low drive around the post after the winger had been found by Rooney's pass.

    Beattie opts to shoot from distance, but Van Der Sar makes an easy save; he would have been much better served playing in Osman to his left.

    Beattie is adjudged to have fouled Silvestre as the two challenged for Hibbert's long ball on the edge of the penalty area.

    DOUBLE SAVE! Three United players seem to get in each other's way as they tussle for a bouncing ball inside the Everton penalty area. Scholes eventually takes charge, but his low shot is saved by Wright, who then dives at Scholes' feet to claim the rebound.

    A United corner from the right is fired in by Giggs to the near post, but Smith can't get enough on the ball and it runs out for a goal-kick.

    Wright has played very well in goal for Everton; he is really taking his chance to remind his manager of what he can do in Martyn's place.

    Everton have looked a little flustered in defence at times this afternoon; there hasn't been a lot of composure at the back for the visitors.

    United have missed Van Nistelrooy this afternoon; Saha has looked a little off-the-pace as he comes back from his injury lay-off.

    Giggs is ruled to have fouled Hibbert as they tried to get on the end of Neville's excellent low cross in from the right.

    Phil Neville takes the chance to use the break to get some instructions from his manager. Saha is soon back on his feet, although he is walking a little gingerly.

    SHOT! Scholes' shot from the edge of the area flies two or three yards over the bar. He was being closed down and stretching, but could perhaps have done a bit better.

    Smith is livid at the referee as Mr Styles rules that he fouls Kilbane, 40 yards out. He could be talking himself in to a booking this afternoon.

    United, like Wednesday, are chasing a crucial second goal in this second half; will they be more successful than they were four days ago?

    Still no sign of a change from either side; United have plenty of attacking options on the bench, although Everton's bench seems a little weaker.

    Scholes feeds Neville down the right; the England full-back speeds on to the ball and fires it in low, but his brother Phil puts it out at the near post.

    SUB: Ronaldo replaces Park. The South Korean hasn't been very effective this afternoon, and the Portuguese winger has the chance to make up for his dismal performance in midweek.

    GREAT CHANCE! United had over-committed at a corner, and Everton were left with a two-on-one situation as they broke. Davies fed McFadden, but the Scottish forward's shot was saved vby Van Der Sar.

    SAVE! Wright claws away Rooney's deflected shot from eight yards out, and Valente completed the clearance by hooking away the loose ball.

    Smith is booked for jumping in a little recklessly on Davies. Again, the United midfielder is furious with the decision; he is walking a tightrope this afternoon.

    Saha feeds Ronaldo, who opts for an early ball in to the middle; his cross is aimed to the back post, but Hibbert is up high to clear.

    RUBBISH! McFadden, looking to make up for his earlier miss, runs at the United defence; he has options left and right, but he chooses to shoot. Unfortunately for the visitors, his shot is awful and bobbles well wide.

    Phil Neville and Hibbert combine to snuff out the danger as Rooney runs at the Everton defence from the left wing.

    Everton are having a lot of chances on the break in this second half as they look to exploit the enormous gaps in the United back four.

    United will need to continue to push men forward as they seek the winner they so desperately need after their midweek woe. Everton might fancy their chances of taking advantage on the break.

    The visitors are taking every opportunity to waste a few seconds; Wright is booed by the United fans as he takes his time over a free-kick.

    SUB: Fletcher replaces Smith. Ferguson must have recognised that Smith was getting a little frustrated and has chosen not to risk having a man sent off.

    United haven't tested Wright in the Everton goal for ten minutes or so; Everton have soaked up a lot of pressure quite easily recently.

    Everton have worked very hard in this match, and if they get a point they can be rightly proud - I think they probably deserve it.

    Kilbane, who has been caught out of position a couple of times this afternoon, does well to track back and put the ball out for a throw as Neville and Ronaldo threatened.

    EVERTON SUB: McFadden is replaced by Bent; a like-for-like swap from Moyes, who opts to keep an attacking edge to his side for the final few minutes.

    OOH! Neville's cross in to the middle causes plenty problems for the Everton defence, but Weir and Wright combine to slide the ball clear as it dropped at the feet of Rossi.

    Silvestre seems to have stretched his groin; he jogs forward for a set-piece with a little limp and not a great deal of urgency.

    The United fans won't be happy with a draw here, especially considering another Chelsea victory yesterday. But this was always going to be a tough test.

    WIDE! Ronaldo and Neville combine well down the right; the Portuguese youngster clips a good ball in to the middle, but Rossi can only plant a free header wide of the near post.

     Ronaldo has looked very circumspect since he has come on; he hasn't tried to go past a single Everton defender, but has been content to play everything very simple. He seems to have been stung by the criticism he took after the Benfica defeat.

     EVERTON SUB: Ferguson replaces Beattie. Another like-for-like swap from David Moyes. Ferguson has been a thorn in the side of United for Everton and Newcastle over the last few seasons - can he snatch an unlikely winner?

     Everton are doing a great job of closing out this match, and are even managing to keep hold of the ball in the United half. The home fans are very frustrated at the moment.

     This would be the sixth time in seven home games that United have scored only once.

     United win a foul on the edge of the penalty area as Neville pushes Saha off the ball as the Frenchman ran at the Everton defence. Rooney stands over the ball...

     Ferdinand flicks the corner on at the near post, but the ball flies across the face of goal and no United player is able to turn it home.

     There will be four additional minutes of stoppage time, and United look to be winding up for a trademark big finish...

     Ferdinand, like on Wednesday, is playing as a third striker at the moment as United loft his balls forward.

     Bent leads an Everton break; it is a two-on-one for the visitors, but the substitute's attempted pass over to Ferguson is very poor and Silvestre easily intercepts.

     FULL-TIME: Booes from the United faithful as the referee blows for full-time. Everton defended very well, and for all United's pressure Fergie's men couldn't find a way through.
