2. Welcome to Stamford Bridge for this afternoon's Premiership encounter between Chelsea and Spurs.

   A great start by Chelsea, who have immediately won the first corner of the match.

   Robinson comes to claim, but can only divert the ball on to the head of Gudjohnsen, who places a header back across the face of the goal, but King manages to clear the danger from under his crossbar. A close call.

   Chelsea have hardly allowed the visitors a touch of the ball in these opening minutes.

   Another great opening for Chelsea, with Drogba being sent clen through on goal, but Robinson comes to Spurs's rescue with a sprawling save at the feet of the Ivoray Coast international's feet.

   There looks like there is a full house in at the Bridge this afternoon.

   The North Londoners have not beaten Chelsea in the League in their last 28 meetings!

   It is all Chelsea in these opening minutes, although that is to be expected really.

    It appears as though Joe Cole is playing in a free role this afternoon, just behind Drogba and Gudjohnsen.

    The ball breaks to Lampard, about 25 yards out, slightly right of centre, but the England international is off target with his effort.

    The Blues won the corresponding fixture 4-2 last season, although there are only two players on each side who appeared in that fixture on the pitch this afternoon.

    Spurs appear to have weathered the early storm of Chelsea attacks quite well, without ever threatening themselves .

    Cole does well to get to the byline, but his pull back is stabbed to safety by the ever-alert King, a massive presence in the Spurs back four.

    Duff is a substitute for Chelsea today, and may well be needed later on if Tottenham continue this stout resistance.

    Drogba goes on a mazy run, with Spurs backing off, until the striker cuts inside and unleashes a shot that goes over the bar.

    Naybet finds Atouba with an inch-perfect crossfield pass, who inturn picks out Defoe on the edge of the box, and he lays it off to Redknapp for a long-range shot on goal, only for Carvalho to make an excellent block.

    Chelsea have finished in the top six for the past eight seasons.

    Not for the first time already this afternoon, Drogba is flagged for being offside.

    There has been very little goalmouth action to report as yet, apart from the opening minute of the game.

    Cole goes on a brilliant run, beating two men, before laying in a great ball for Gudjohnsen, but yet again King comes across to cover, even winning a goal kick off the Iceland international.

    All three unbeaten sides left in the Premiership are all from London, quite a feat.

    Chelsea are really attempting to press Spurs whenever they get on the ball, forcing the visitors to give away possession cheaply.

    Great chance for Gudjohnsen from a geeat ball by Ferreira, but six yards out and unmarked, the big front man cushions his header wide of Robinson's far post when he should have down better.

    Now Spurs break forward, with Redknapp sliding Atouba down on the right-hand side byline, only for Ferreira to make a great recovery tackle to concede a corner.

    And the resultant left-wing corner almost picks out King's forehead, but it is just a bit too strong for the defender.

    And immediately Chelsea break upfield with Cole, whose inventiveness creates an opening for Thiago on the edge of the box, only for the Portuguese to miskick terribly.

    Penalty claims by Chelsea after Drogba goes down under a challenege from King, but the striker appears to have tripped over his own legs and the referee waves play on.

    Cole tries to chip a delicate through-ball for Gudjohnsen, but Robinson reads the danger well and claims.

    Lampard takes over in midfield and after a scramble in the Spurs box, Gudjohnsen is unable to get enough power on his shot, which falls comfortably in the midrift of Robinson.

    Remember, both teams are currently unbeaten in the League so far this campaign.

    Keane is dropping ever so deep for Spurs, virtually playing as a midfield player so far this afternoon.

    Again Lampard goes on a driving run, deep into opposition terriority, only to be bundled off the ball by a strong challenge from Pamarot.

    England's No1 to the rescue for Spurs, diving at the feet of the onrushing Drogba, who had used his strength to outmuscle Pamarot. A great save by Robinson.

    It appears only a matter of time before Chelsea take the lead here.

    A chance for Lampard to put in a dangerous left-wing cross, but the England international can only pick out the head of Pamarot.

    Bridge tries to pick out Ferreira with a raking crossfield ball, but Edman reads the danger and heads out for a throw-in.

    Now a free kick to Chelsea in a dangerous area, to be taken by Lampard out wide on the right-hand touchline.

    Lampard floats it high to the back post, where Gudjohnsen does well to head back across goal, only for the outstanding King to head clear.

    Now a corner to the home side, from the left, to be taken by Lampard.

    However, it's another poor delivery by Lampard, again hitting the first defender, and although it falls nicely to Makelele on the edge of the box, the Frenchman's shot is way off target.

    It's Spurs's chance to win a pressure-relieving free kick now, deep in Chelsea's half.

    But, it comes to nothing, being easily cleared by Carvalho at the back post.

    Approaching half-time at the Bridge, and still no score, with the visitors more than happy with the way proceeings have gone so far.

    Spurs have won a free kick in a very dangerous position, central, about 30 yards out.

    Mendes plays a short ball to his skipper Redknapp, only for his shot to be charged down by a possee of onrushing Blues defenders.

    The home support are giving their team great backing, hoping for an opening goal just before the break.

    The fourth official has indicated that there will only be one minute of time to be added on at the end of this first half.

    And almost immediately, referee Mike Riley has blown the whistle to end what has been a very tight and evenly-contested first period.

    Spurs get the second half under way, kicking from left to right.

    Spurs again give away possession cheaply at the start of this second period - they really cannot afford to keep on doing that.

    Chelsea have now won the first corner of this second period after a thrusting run by Cole into the Spurs box.

    The right-wing corner, in front of the Shed End, is almost headed in at the near post by Terry, only for King to make an excellent block.

    Now it's Drogba's chance to go close, backing in to King on the edge of the box from a long throw-in, before delivering an excellent overhead kick that only drifts narrowily past the far post.

    The first booking of the game, after King barges Lampard off the ball. A little harsh perhaps.

    Already, the second half has taken on the same pattern as the first, with Spurs encamped deep in their own half, defending deep.

    But, Mendes has a chance to break clear down the Spurs right flank, and after twisting and turning past two players, the Portuguese delivers a curling centre that Terry heads powerfully clear.

    You get the feeling that there will only be one goal here in west London this afternoon, at most.

    A free kick to Chelsea, in a dangerous position, central, about 25 yards out, with Drogba lining it up.

    But, unlike on Tuesday in Paris, the striker's effort is too high and sails over the bar.

    Mourinho comes charging off the bench to deliver some instructions to his players, clearly not happy with how this second period has begun for the home team.

    A wonder save by Cech keeps the scores level after Davies picks out Keane with an inch-perfect right-wing centre, only for the striker's bullet header, from an unmarked position, to somehow be pushed over the bar by the giant keeper.

    Now Drogba goes clean through on goal at the other end, and after going round the advancing Robinson, he is denied by a wonderful recovery tackle by King. Corner to the Blues.

    Lampard's left-wing centre is easily dealt with by the Spurs defence, with Naybet heading clear at the back post.

    Another left-wing corner for Chelsea, again to be taken by Lampard.

    Chelsea come very close to opening the scoring through Terry, but his near-post header sails only just past the far post with Robinson rooted to his line.

    Just under half an hour to play at the Bridge and the scores are still level.

    Drogba now goes on a barnstorming run through the Spurs defence, and gets to the byline, only for his pull back to evade the onrushing Gudjohnsen. Another close call for the visitors.

    Edman gets in a good crossing position on the left-hand side, but delivers a very poor centre, that goes straight out for a goal kick to Chelsea.

    Chelsea are about to make a double substitution to try and find a way through this stubborn Spurs defence.

    However, first they have to defend a corner won by the shear persistance of Davies.

    But, Redknapp's right-wing corner is easily plucked out of the sky by the giant Cech.

    Chelsea are now bringing on both Duff and Kezman for the excellent Cole and Tiago, attacking substutions by Mourinho.

    Spurs have another corner, although this time from the left-hand side, to be taken by Keane.

    Cech comes to punch clear, but the ball falls to Redknapp on the edge of the box and although off-balance, the midfielder forces a good save out of Cech. Another corner to Spurs though.

    And this left-wing corner by Keane causes great panic in the home defence, before Carvalho clears his lines.

    Substitute Kezman has yet to open his account for Chelsea - this would be a good time.

    Duff has immediately gone out on to the left wing, looking to hug the touchline and send in some crosses for Chelsea's three strikers.

    Atouba has been fouled by Lampard in the middle of the park and is down receiving treatment at the moment. In fact, the big man is being forced to limp from the fray.

    Currently therefore, Spurs are down to ten men.

    But, Atouba has now returned to proceedings, although still limping badly.

    Second booking of the match, this time Redknapp for following through late on his opposite number Terry.

    Spurs are forced into their first change of the match, with Brown coming on to replace the injured Atouba. Brown will play on the right, with Davies swapping to the left flank.

    Great tackle by Terry on his England colleague Defoe, winning the ball forcefully in the Chelsea half and then setting up an attack.

    Duff does well on the left wing, and his deep cross to the back post is headed by Gudjohnsen towards Drogba, but the striker cannot turn King and the ball dribbles out for a goal kick.

    Chelsea have failed to hit the target with any shot in this second period, in which they have been very disappointing.

    Robinson comes to Spurs's rescue, racing off his line to meet a dangerous right-wing centre and punching the ball away from the top of Drogba's head before he can head home.

    Free kick to Chelsea after a good, penetrative run by Duff, to be taken by Lampard.

    Again Robinson comes to the visitors' rescue with a brilliant save from Lampard's curling centre, but the keeper just gets fingertips to deflect the ball inches past the far post with Gudjohnsen right in front of the keeper.

    This will be a long last six or so minutes for Jacques Santini's men; can they hang on for this point?

    Ferreira goes on a good run down the right wing and delivers a good cross to the back post and with Drogba coming in, Pamarot is forced to concede the corner.

    Again the ball is worked out to Duff on the left-hand touchline, in a lot of space and with time to deliver, but his centre rolls agonisingly across the face of the goal and out for a throw-in.

    The closest either side comes to scoring with Gudjohnsen volleying brilliantly, first time from outside the box, only for the ball to hit the base of the post and then the ball rolls out to safety, much to the home team's disgust.

    Chelsea make their final change of the match, a last throw of the dice, with Smertin coming on at left back, replacing Bridge.

    Now Spurs decide to replace the tiring Defoe, bringing on Kanoute.

    Another great escape for Spurs following a long ball into the heart of their defence, and somehow the outstanding King thwarts Drogba just as the striker was about to slam the ball into the back of the net. Great defending, although Chelsea still have a corner.

    The fourth official has indicated that there will be another five minutes to be added on at the end of this second period.

    Spurs have won a late right-wing corner following a long ball into the Chelsea defence by Robinson's enourmous clearance.

    But, with no players to pick out, the corner is easily claimed by Cech, who wastes no time in setting up probably one last Chelsea attack.

     Brown has won his team a late free kick in a dangerous position, for which Smertin, who blocked the midfielder, is booked.

     However, Brown's curling free kick sails over everyone's heads and goes out for a throw-in by the corner flag.

     That is full time here at the Bridge and the match ends up goalless after a battling defensive display by Spurs. Chelsea stay second.
