Wigan Athletic – Manchester City

1. Join us at 1600 BST for commentary to see if Man City can stake their claim for a top four finish.

2. Good afternoon and welcome to live coverage of Manchester City's trip to Wigan. City can go third if they win while the Latics can leap into 10th if they grab three points.

3. Wigan: Kirkland, Melchiot, Boyce, Bramble, Figueroa, Rodallega, Thomas, Diame, N'Zogbia, Scharner and Scotland. Subs: Pollitt, Cho, Koumas, Gomez, Sinclair, Kapo and King.

4. Man City: Given, Zabaleta, Richards, Lescott, Bridge, Wright-Phillips, De Jong, Barry, Petrov, Tevez and Adebayor. Subs: Taylor, Johnson, Ireland, Santa Cruz, Sylvinho, Kompany and Weiss.

5. So, Toure and Bellamy are missing for City but their replacements aren't half bad: Micah Richards and Martin Petrov. Shay Given takes the captain's armband.

6. Wigan have never lost a top-flight game on home soil against City and are unchanged from their disappointing defeat to Hull a fortnight ago. A very patchy season for them so far, the highlight being their home win over Chelsea.

7. Right, the teams are out, to a suitably luke warm welcome from a half full DW Stadium. Kick-off is moments away...

8. 1'

   We begin....

9. 2'

Barry intercepts a Rodallega run but his ball for Tevez is poor.

10. 3'

N'Zogbia has a pop after a nice one two with Scharner. The move began after a wayward flick from Adebayor handed Wigan possession. The striker made no attempt to get it back either.

11. 4'

Scotland nips past Richards and hands the ball back to Rodallega but his shot is blocked. A bright start from Wigan.

12. 5'

Bramble nods back to Kirkland after a long ball from Richards. I wonder if he has his concentration cap on today.

13. 6'

Adebayor has started in a very moany fashion, expecting the whistle to blow at the merest hint of contact.

14. 7'

Good build up play from Diame who fed Scotland, he rolled it sideways for Scharner but he drags his shot well wide. Nice football from Wigan.

15. 9'

First attacking move of menace from City as Bridge swings in a cross that Bramble clears. Then Barry is penalised for handball.

16. 10'

N'Zogbia has another pop on goal but it was always heading wide. He should have done better.

17. 11'

An untidy passage of play as the ball changes hands several times. Prior to that Petrov tried a cross but it was blocked.

18. 12'

Bramble dives in on Petrov inside the box but he gets away with it and wins a goal kick to boot.

19. 13'

Wigan look far snappier than City do at this point. N'Zogbia again gets into a good shooting position but he produces another woeful effort.

20. 14'

Bramble gets in sharply on Adebayor.

21. 16'

Adebayor labours in possession and allows Emmerson Boyce to bully him out wide and then concede a throw in.

22. 17'

Nice interplay between N'Zogbia and Scotland but the final ball is just lacking at the moment for Wigan.

23. 18'

De Jong clips Scharner as the midfielder snaked past him. Decent position for the free kick, wide left.

24. 19'

De Jong nods Scharner's delivery behind for a corner.

25. 20'

Lescott wrangles with Scharner but Adebayor flicks the ball out of harm's way.

26. 21'

Tevez clips a lovely ball inside Figueroa for SWP but the winger has just strayed a yard offside. It was a certain goal if the flag has stayed down.

27. 21'

Tevez clips a lovely ball inside Figueroa for SWP but the winger has just staryed a yard offside. It was a certain goal if the flag has stayed down.

28. 22'

Wigan scramble the ball clear as Tevez released Adebayor, he cut inside Bramble but as he took an extra touch the centre back dispossessed him. Then as Adebayor hunted it down again Thomas hacks clear from Barry.

29. 23'

City claim a free kick then that is cleared for a corner, their first.

30. 24'

Bramble stoops at the near post to clear the corner but City are building up a head of steam here.

31. 25'

A cute ball in from SWP causes havoc in the box, Barry misses it but Melchiot has to chest it behind at the far post. Good defending.

32. 26'

N'Zogbia puts in a cross and Rodallega tries an acrobatic effort but the ball clonks him right in the face then Thomas brings down SWP as City break and is booked.

33. 28'

A strong challenge from Richards on Rodallega as the ball neared the byline. The ball had already gone out so City get the throw.

34. 29'

SWP gets more space down the right and crosses. Melchiot turns it behind, awkwardly, for another corner.

35. 29'

Good work from De Jong in the centre of the park, he looks for Lescott inside the area but the centre half wasn't ready for it and the ball trickles behind for a goal kick.

36. 30'

Bridge crosses over Adebayor and Figueroa just gets a flick on it which puts off Tevez who can't connect properly with a volley.

37. 31'

Richards gets clattered in the gob but seems ok.

38. 32'

Zabaleta gets carded for a very late challenge on Figueroa. It was clumsy more than anything.

39. 33'

Adebayor is moaning again after Bramble nudged him off the ball. Get on with it man.

40. 34'

N'Zogbia tracks a Wayne Bridge run very well, then Scotland wins a free kick off De Jong on the half way line. He looks tidy does the big man.

41. 35'

SWP edges round Figueroa but as he entered the penalty area the full back retrieves the situation and concedes a corner, which everybody misses.

42. 37'

A cracking hit from Rodallega is saved well by Gieven, who flew off to his right. Wigan then win a corner.

43. 39'

Barry tidies up from the corner then quick feet from SWP draws a foul from Thomas.

44. 40'

Figueroa gets a card from upening SWP. It wasn't really a yellow in truth but Alan Wiley got a bit excited. From the free kick Kirkland saves from Barry's glancing header.

45. 42'

A brilliant cross field pass from Petrov is controlled beautifully by SWP but his centre is blocked. Zabaleta then wins a free kick on the right flank.

46. 43'

The free kick is taken short and as Zabaleta crosses Tevez nods the loose ball goalwards but Kirkland catches cleanly. Adebayor was offside anyhow.

47. 44'

The ball is in the net but its been ruled out. Scotland did really well to battle Lescott out of the way, then as N'Zogbia got involved he tripped Barry before slotting past Given. Correct decision though.

48. 45'

    GOAL! N'Zogbia!

49. 45'

Scotland touches off to Rodallega who blasts one across goal and as Given parries it out N'Zogbia beats Bridge to it and taps home.

50. 45'

That's half time. An atrocious time to concede and a question mark over Shay Gvien for the goal. Bridge was on his heels too. City will have to press hard in the second period.

51. 46'

    We begin again...

52. 47'

    GOAL! Petrov!

53. 47'

A superb finish as Petrov collected Tevez's cross, let it run across him and planted it beautifully into the far corner.

54. 48'

Well, that didn't take long. City level after about 64 seconds of the second half.

55. 49'

N'Zogbia beats two players but fails to get past Barry with his final ball. Then Tevez is felled by Melchiot. He's one foul away from a booking.

56. 50'

Scotland looks for a second like he's outwitted Lescott in the area but the City defender recovers to concede a corner.

57. 51'

N'Zogbia's corner is poor and De Jong clears at the near post.

58. 52'

De Jong slides in Adebayor and Bramble makes a critical, brilliant tackle and as the ball breaks loose SWP hits his shot into Adebayor's face and over the bar!

59. 52'

De Jong slides in Adebayor and Bramble makes a critical, brilliant tackle and as the ball breaks loose SWP hits his shot into Adebayor's face and over the bar!

60. 53'

Kirkland spills a looping cross but he got an elbow in the face from Richards and is awarded a free kick.

61. 53'

Kirkland spills a looping cross but he got an elbow in the face from Richards and is awarded a free kick.

62. 55'

A good Wigan break ends in disaster as Scharner and Rodallega gets in each other's way when going for a Figueroa pull back.

63. 55'

Kirkland has his dislocated finger put back in in full view of the cameras. Not nice viewing.

64. 56'

Prior to that Wigan spoiled a good choice as Scharner and Rodallega got in each other's way trying to finish Figueroa's cutback. Communication needed.

65. 57'

Mike Pollitt warms up if Kirkland can't continue...

66. 58'

    Petrov wins a City corner..

67. 60'

Adebayor is penalised for dispossessing Thomas on the right wing. Very harsh decision that.

68. 61'

From a Wigan free kick Bramble wins the header but Given gets there ahead of Scotland.

69. 62'

A flurry of flying tackles ends with a City free kick. Wiley's got that horribly wrong again. De Jong dived in on Diame, Bramble felled Adebayor then Diame won the ball off Bridge but was penalised. It was all very messy.

70. 63'

A brilliant cross from Petrov finds Barry at the back post but Kirkland gets a strong palm on his header. City ramping up the pressure now...

71. 64'

Zabaleta is off! He gets a second yellow card for lunging in on Scotland. His first card was dubious, that wasn't.

72. 65'

Rodallega takes the free kick but De Jong has run five yards out of the wall to block the shot. Wiley keeps schtum this time though.

73. 66'

Diame cuts inside a Barry challenge and fizzes a left foot shoot narrowly over the bar. Wigan can sniff blood here.

74. 67'

Looks like Adebayor is struggling for City. SWP has gone to right back for the time being.

75. 68'

Adebayor comes off and Kompany comes on.

76. 69'

Thomas gives away a needless free kick on the touchline as Roberto Martinez prepares to make a change.

77. 70'

Tevez comes short for the free kick and whacks one towards goal but it was way off target.

78. 71'

Scharner comes off and Jordi Gomez comes on.

79. 72'

An old fashioned drop ball has just taken place after SWP and Diame got in a tangle. How refreshing.

80. 73'

Again Wigan have the ball in the net but Thomas was two yards offisde when he got N'Zogbia's ball.

81. 75'

Tevez dashes after the ball as Wigan stroke it around the back, then he dives headfirst to try and get in the way of Kirkland's eventual clearance.

82. 76'

Rodallega cuts inside and shoots but Given claims it on the bounce.

83. 77'

Bramble humps a long one forward for Scotland but it is too near Given.

84. 78'

Melchiot does superbly well down the right and stands up a lovely cross but again, there's no communication as Scotland and Thomas collide when going for it.

85. 79'

Figueroa does well to slide in and poke the ball back to Kirkland as SWP went into the area.

86. 81'

SWP turns in a tired cross as Barry made a run into the area.

87. 82'

Double change for City: Ireland and Santa Cruz come on for Tevez and SWP.

88. 84'

Good chance for City as Melchiot again marauds down the right, he squares it to Gomez but his effort is tame and Given saves with his legs.

89. 85'

Santa Cruz stumbles after he won the ball and Scotland nearly sidesteps Lescott in the aftermath.

90. 87'

Another interesting but slightly aimless run from N'Zogbia ends in him losing possession inside the area.

91. 88'

De Jong mops up on Gomez but then the Spaniard wins it back, N'Zogbia stands it up at the far post and as it breaks loose Rodallega stabs it goalwards but Given saves. Great stop, too.

92. 89'

Rodallega harries up the left, cuts in and delivers a sublime cross but no Wigan player was anywhere near it. If they were, they might be celebrating a winner about now.

93. 90'

    Four minutes added..

94. 92'

Melchiot drops another cross in but Wigan are lacking a bit of want inside the area. No-one attacks it.

95. 93'

Figueroa hammers in another ball, Scotland wins it but again no-one follows in to tap home. Wigan could easily have won this if they'd be a bit more adventurous.

96. 94'

Figueroa is free in space on the left but his cross is pathetic. He may be tired but that's poor.

97. 95'

That's that. A point apiece is probably the right result. City still haven't managed to win at the DW in the Premier League and in the end were happy with a point after Zabaleta was dismissed. Four points from the visit of Chelsea and City are a good return for Wigan.
