2. Robbie Keane lines up for his Spurs debut alongside Teddy Sheringham. Matthew Etherington returns after a knock on his knee.

3. Michael Carrick, the target for some East End boo-boy action, has been dropped to the West Ham bench alongside Jermain Defoe. Paolo Di Canio and Freddie Kanoute will lead the Hammers' attack.

   West Ham get the game underway. The ball is sprayed wide to Joe Cole but his pass is overhit and is back with Keller.

   Hit long. Sheringham flick-on for Keane. Davies' cross headed behind.

   Ziege's ball is poor. Tarricco through to Keane. Repka shepherds the ball out for a David James free-kick.

   Kanoute's through-ball can't reach Cole. Etherington's run stopped by Pearce but he's then fouled.

   Whipped in Redknapp but it drifts away from everybody and behind the goal.

   Redknapp slides in on Repka. The Czech is hurt after a nasty collision.

    Hammers free-kick. Repka looks badly hurt. The big man is out of the game it seems.

    West Ham win a throw. Di Canio's cross finds only Kasey Keller. His long throw gets away from Etherington. Kanoute is offside.

    Robbie Keane gets his first chance - a bouncing ball is chested and an acrobatic volley flies over. Great skills from the Irishman.

    Davies is stopped by Cisse. Etherington on the run. Bunjecevic plays it safe. Long ball back to Keller.

    Ball back with David James. Hoofed long. But Spurs get it back. Ziege down the wing hits a first-time ball. James is equal to the task.

    Winterburn replaces the stricken Repka. Boos ring out for the former Gunner.

    Joe Cole gets a good chance. Cross from Di Canio trickles to Cole. He lashes it over. Should have hit the target.

    Lomas long ball to Kanoute. Gardner does well. Keller has it. Keane chases hard at the other end.

    Davies strays offside after a long Ziege ball.

    Etherington down through the middle. Breen does well to stop him.

    Redknapp and Sheringham do well. Etherington gets a chance to cross but James comes out well to collect.

    Kanoute shows great skill. Di Canio dummies and Lomas can shoot. He skews it up in the air and almost behind him. Had the pitching wedge with plenty of backspin out there.

    Free-kick chance for Spurs. Ziege's cross is knocked away when it cleared everyone.

    Sheringham, Keane and Redknapp link but Breen stops Redknapp as he was chipped through.

    Sheringham finds Keane. He links well with Ziege. Good ball across the face of goal. Sheringham lurked but Dailly knocked it away. Sheringham then heads the resulting corner behind.

    Cole is knocked over by Sheringham. Tarrico's ball is bad. Poor delivery once again. But Bunjevcevic gets another chance. He fires over.

    Spurs have a throw. Ziege and Etherington link well. But West Ham break. Kanoute is stopped by Perry, bravely and the Spurs man goes down injured.

    Keller clears under pressure from Cole. But Lomas stops Sheringham. Keane then fouls Winterburn.

    Long ball from Redknapp finds David James. Cisse on a run but then is fouled. Di Canio weaves. Cole plays it safe. But then a long cross from Kanoute forces a corner as Tarrico heads behind.

    Lomas gets the ball from a rebound but shoots over. No shots on target as yet from the Hammers. for Spurs there's been just the one (Sheringham's header).

    Keane and Sheringham link well. Ziege's ball headed away by Breen. Now Cole on the right. His ball comes to Di Canio. Back to Winterburn - but guess what - it's over and into the crowd.

    Sheringham has a chance to chip through. Headed way with ease. Sinclair drifts through the middle and Cole's running off the ball takes defenders away. Fired woefully wide once more.

    The half-time whistle is blown on a flat affair. Scrappy stuff, some bad tackling but most of all there's been poor delivery and shooting whenever the goal is sighted. Not yet a classic.

    Keane down the wing. He plays it to Etherington. His slid cross to Simon Davies is knocked home by the Welshman. 1-0 to Spurs!

    Di Canio pirouettes. But the ball goes back to David James. The Italian then lurked when a ball from Lomas skids across goal. Corner is wasted again.

     Defoe, down in the corner, can't force a free-kick. Cisse fouls Bunjecevic. Through ball from Sheringham just evades Ziege.

     Ball headed out. Thatcher throw to Gardner. He runs on from the halfway line. The defence opens up for him. He shoots and a deflection off Gary Breen directs it past James. 3-2 to Spurs!

     The youngster, who's had a great game in defence, discovers a scoring touch. Spurs have found a real gem in Gardner.

     Defoe chases hard as Doherty holds the ball in the corner. Desperation from West Ham.

     Thatcher on the break. He ran it out of play. Lomas long ball is knocked back. Keller gets it and throws out. Keane makes a nuisance of himself.

     In the last minute of added time. Free-kick to West Ham. Cole and Sinclair link to give Cisse a shooting chance. He fires over.

     Cole runs hard. Iversen tackles and that's the last of it. Spurs have won 3-2 in a thrilling second-half show.

     For Spurs the problems of conceding goals continues but so does their happy scoring touch. They move back up to the higher echelons of the table just behind Arsenal. For West Ham it's four out of five games lost and the wooden spoon position. A hard season ahead for Glenn Roeder.
