Tottenham Hotspur – Manchester United

1. After a pitch inspection just over an hour before kick-off, we're on at White Hart Lane. The snow had been getting heavier, but the groundstaff have kept the pitch playable, and the stairs and gangways in the stands have also been passed safe.

2. Scott Parker is back in the fray for Tottenham, who also bring in Steven Caulker and Clint Dempsey.

3. There's only one change for Manchester United: Phil Jones is in for Ashley Young. Otherwise, it's the side that beat Liverpool at Old Trafford last weekend.

4. Full team news to follow shortly - in the meantime, let's hope this match is as good as the one at Old Trafford earlier this season, which Spurs won 3-2.

5. Teams in full, starting with Spurs: Lloris, Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Naughton, Lennon, Parker, Dembele, Bale, Dempsey, Defoe. Subs: Friedel, Vertonghen, Huddlestone, Sigurdsson, Livermore, Townsend, Assou-Ekotto.

6. And United: De Gea, Da Silva, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Jones, Carrick, Cleverley, Kagawa, Welbeck, van Persie. Subs: Lindegaard, Valencia, Anderson, Rooney, Giggs, Smalling, Hernandez.

7. The referee is Chris Foy, who will be peering through the snowflakes to make his decisions.

8. Sir Alex Ferugson says it's "worth trying and starting" the game today. Does that imply he thinks they might not be able to finish it, I wonder?

9. The players are in the White Hart Lane tunnel. Five minutes or so until kick-off.

10. The players are out, shaking hands in the snow.

11. Spurs get us under way - big noise from the stands at White Hart Lane.

12. 1'

Bale plays an early ball forward to Dempsey, whose initial control is good - but so is Carrick's challenge.

13. 1'

Then a long and aimless ball from United, and that floats straight through to Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

14. 2'

Van Persie - getting the bird from the crowd for his Arsenal past - is the target of another chip forward, but that eludes him by some distance.

15. 3'

Parker is adjudged to have fouled Jones in midfield. He doesn't like the decision, but United have the free-kick.

16. 4'

Welbeck chases the ball forward, but Naughton calmly ushers it out. Spurs goal-kick.

17. 4'

Lloris kicks unconvincingly, and Spurs concede a throw in their own half, but it comes to nothing.

18. 5'

A rather shapeless first five minutes. Then, midway inside the United half, Vidic fouls Defoe and Spurs have a free-kick.

19. 6'

It's half cleared - Dempsey thumps a volley from the edge of the area which is well hit but blocked before it can travel too far.

20. 7'

Good pressing by Walker wins his team a throw-in in the United half, but the visitors cope with that one easily enough.

21. 7'

Jones goes down the right and tries to hook in a cross for United. It drifts behind for a goal-kick.

22. 8'

Walker comes forward again for Spurs, and gets his side a throw. Then Lennon twists past Evra and is brought down. Free-kick...

23. 9'

This can be swung into the area, and there are plenty in there...

24. 10'

...but a United head is there first, and they get the ball forward to Welbeck.

25. 11'

The ball is back with Spurs, and Parker tries a long-ranger when it falls to him off Ferdinand. The effort, though, drifts harmlessly wide.

26. 12'

Passes are going astray. Welbeck is the latest to misplace one, but Lennon wins it back.

27. 12'

Jones clips a cross in towards van Persie...

28. 13'

...who heads goalwards, but straight at Lloris.

29. 14'

Naughton goes crossfield to Lennon, whose low shot is parried by De Gea. Defoe can't get much on the rebound - but the flag was up and it wouldn't have counted in any case.

30. 14'

Ferdinand on the ball, just inside the Spurs half, but is pressured into playing it all the way back.

31. 15'

Quarter of an hour in, and there's not much to report in terms of attacking threat. This is cagey stuff so far.

32. 16'

Vidic is down after a clash of heads with Defoe as the pair went for a bouncing ball near halfway.

33. 17'

He looks a touch dazed, but is back on his feet now.

34. 18'

Here goes Parker, moving through midfield. It's worked wide to Walker. Spurs trying to be patient, and now Defoe has it on the left.

35. 18'

Ferdinand, though, is covering for United. Tottenham throw.

36. 19'

It's thrown to Bale, inside the area on the right, but his control - unusually - lets him down and the ball drifts behind for a goal-kick.

37. 19'

Parker is chased by Welbeck down the right for United. He loses the ball to the forward, who is adjudged to have fouled him. That seems harsh on Welbeck.

38. 20'

Ferdinand passes the ball straight out of play. That's rather symptomatic of the match so far.

39. 21'

Carrick and Welbeck link, but United lose it. Dempsey nips in, and Carrick brings him crashing down in midfield.

40. 22'

The referee doesn't hang about in showing a yellow to the former Spurs midfielder.

41. 22'

The free-kick is played in and goes behind off Carrick for a Tottenham corner, the first of the game.

42. 23'

Ferdinand clears, but Spurs will come again. Lennon tries to go down the right. Carrick blocks him off.

43. 24'

Long and aimless down the right for Spurs, but United's ragged passing means they keep getting possession back.

44. 25'

But they put a good move together here - Welbeck to Cleverley, who crosses towards van Persie...

45. 25'

GOAL: It's a peach of a cross and a fine header from the Dutchman, which flies into the net. United have sprung into life to take the lead.

46. 26'

A rare moment of quality in the snow, and it brings the breakthrough for the Premier League leaders.

47. 27'

What can Tottenham find in response?

48. 27'

Defoe tries a speculative shot from an angle on the right, and De Gea pushes it out for a corner.

49. 28'

Guess who's there to clear for United? Robin Van Persie, that's who. But Spurs win it back and United have to concede a throw.

50. 29'

United try to get forward down the right, but the pass is overhit and goes behind for a goal-kick.

51. 30'

United look pretty much in control at the moment: not too much under threat. Evra is down in midfield after a challenge from Dawson.

52. 30'

The Spurs man gets a booking for that one.

53. 31'

Looks like a foul by Kagawa on Dembele. No foul, says Chris Foy - and that's the wrong decision. United come forward to win a corner.

54. 32'

A goal from that would have been controversial, but Van Persie balloons his cross into the stand.

55. 32'

Walker plays a dangerous backpass, but Spurs get away with that - even though it made life awkward for Lloris.

56. 33'

Naughton will chip a free-kick forward for Spurs from halfway. Walker leaps, but can't get any sort of flick-on.

57. 34'

Dembele comes forward. Spurs need to find a bit of spark from somewhere here. They are being contained rather easily at the moment.

58. 35'

Dempsey tries a subtle pass to Defoe, but it goes wrong, rolling into space the striker had just vacated.

59. 36'

Walker does well to snuff out a Welbeck run after Carrick had found a through pass.

60. 37'

It's all gone a bit quiet, crowd-wise, at White Hart Lane as we head towards the final five minutes of the first half.

61. 38'

Van Persie chases a ball forward down the right channel, but the flag is up.

62. 39'

Parker is bumped and bustled in midfield: free-kick for Tottenham, halfway inside the United half.

63. 40'

Five minutes until the break - can they conjure up an equaliser?

64. 40'

Bale takes dangerously, and Carrick leaps high to head it away at the far post.

65. 40'

The ball comes back to Bale on the edge of the area. He has a blast, and De Gea blocks it. The best moment for Tottenham so far.

66. 41'

Encouragement for AVB's side - that was a very decent save by the United keeper.

67. 42'

At the other end, Rafael scoots down the right and has a cross blocked.

68. 43'

Good play from Dempsey, working hard to win the ball on the left for Spurs. United usher it back to De Gea in the end, though.

69. 44'

Welbeck goes down the left, but gets his cutback wrong with Kagawa waiting.

70. 44'

As Lennon tries to work up a head of steam, Evra fouls him and goes in to the book.

71. 45'

Welbeck again gets down the left and, with the ball bouncing, Lloris scrambles it away for a corner.

72. 45'

Two minutes of added time as Kagawa wins another corner when his cross deflects.

73. 45'

Dawson is in the right place at the right time to get that one away comfortably.

74. 45'

Good play from Dempsey, breaking for Spurs. And good play by Carrick again - he thwarts the Tottenham man at the expense of a corner.

75. 45'

That comes to nothing, and that's pretty much it for the first half, you would think.

76. 45'

And that's the half-time whistle - Robin Van Persie's goal the difference so far in what hasn't - yet - been any sort of classic at White Hart Lane.

77. 45'

78. 46'

United get the second half started. The snow's still coming down pretty heavily.

79. 46'

An early midfield scrap, but then the ball breaks to Defoe on the right of the area after a stray touch from Ferdinand - he lashes it, but lashes it wide.

80. 47'

Encouraging moment right at the beginning of the second period for AVB and his Tottenham players.

81. 47'

Straight to the other end - Welbeck has a shooting chance, but Dembele is there with an excellent block.

82. 47'

Plenty of action in these early stages, then.

83. 48'

Lennon has a run down the right and Carrick - once more - is there to block. Corner for Tottenham.

84. 49'

It almost falls to Walker, but United get it away. Much brighter from Spurs, this.

85. 49'

Bale gets the ball on the left of the area and tries to curl it into the top corner. It's well hit, but too high.

86. 50'

Dembele makes a great run and can feed Dempsey inside the area here...

87. 51'

He does - the American hits the ball a bit too near De Gea, but it's a very smart save nevertheless. Best chance of the night for Spurs.

88. 51'

At the other end, Welbeck again does well and creates a chance for Kagawa to shoot from the edge of the area. He does, but badly, and it trickles apologetically wide.

89. 52'

There's better quality about Tottenham's passing now. United happy to sit tight and attack them on the break.

90. 53'

Parker weaves his way into the area and goes down very easily under challenge from Kagawa. Nothing doing, says the referee.

91. 54'

Crowd irritation as Jermaine Defoe then thinks he was fouled on the right, and the referee again thinks there was no infringement.

92. 55'

The ball is played long towards Lennon - too long. Goal-kick to United.

93. 56'

Spurs keeping it patient - and then they get impatient as Dawson tries a showbizzy crossfield ball and thumps it out of play.

94. 57'

Free-kick to United after a foul on Van Persie in the centre circle. From it, they win a throw.

95. 58'

It comes to nothing. Spurs then win a free-kick just inside the United half as the home fans treat us to their slowed-down rendition of 'When the Spurs Go Marching In'.

96. 59'

It's played into, and thumped out of, the United penalty area. Lennon does well, but Carrick thwarts him. Corner, say the crowd. Goal-kick, says the linesman.

97. 60'

Half an hour to go, and you feel Spurs will have to find something a bit different to break through this disciplined United defence.

98. 61'

It won't come that way: Dempsey mishits a shot from the edge of the area.

99. 62'

Bale finds a fine cross from the left, which flies through the United area but there's no Spurs boot on the end of it.

100. 62'

Kagawa is off and Wayne Rooney on in the game's first substitution.

101. 63'

Looks as though a Tottenham change will soon follow...

102. 63'

Meanwhile, Rooney's first act is to go down in the area. Again, Chris Foy is not interested in the penalty claims.

103. 64'

Cleverley almost threads a fine ball through to Jones in the area, but it's cut out.

104. 64'

Assou-Ekotto is on for Tottenham, with Naughton the player to make way.

105. 65'

Free-kick for Spurs, towards the left and about halfway inside the United half. Can they make something happen here?

106. 66'

As the ball comes back in, it drops for Defoe, whose shot is blocked, and Dempsey follows up with an effort that deflects into the side-netting.

107. 67'

Rooney leads a counter for United as the cross is cleared - but back gets Parker to put the ball out for a throw.

108. 68'

Low cross for United by Rafael, but the stretching Welbeck can't quite get there to prod in at the far post.

109. 68'

Defoe is - unsurprisingly - outjumped by Vidic as a cross comes in. He gets a bit of a knock in that challenge, but will be fine to carry on.

110. 69'

Then Welbeck is down after trying to win the ball back from Assou-Ekotto, but he too is quickly back on his feet.

111. 71'

An offside flag is raised against Robin Van Persie as we head into the final 20 minutes.

112. 72'

Bale makes space for himself outside the area, but his shot is ballooned over. He had colleagues in better positions, too.

113. 73'

Perhaps that's a sign of Spurs' frustration - they haven't found it easy to carve out too many clear opportunities.

114. 74'

Then the ball almost falls to Van Persie inside the Spurs area. Dawson does well to ensure that it doesn't.

115. 74'

Tom Ckeverley is off for United and Antonio Valencia on as the visitors change one of their wide options.

116. 75'

Van Persie is offside as a cross comes in, though his effort was saved by Lloris in any case.

117. 76'

Assou-Ekotto curls the ball down the line - and straight out of play.

118. 76'

Rafael is booked for fouling Bale on the left. From the free-kick, the ball is played in and Defoe tries an incredibly optimistic volley which actually goes backwards.

119. 77'

Brilliant by Lennon - he turns into space and then feeds Defoe on the left of the area. He takes too long, and Ferdinand blocks. Brilliant chance that, but it goes astray.

120. 78'

Evra breaks away, and his low cross is cut out before it can reach Welbeck.

121. 79'

Yellow for Rooney, who blocks off Lennon as he tries to get past him.

122. 80'

Tom Huddlestone is into the fray for Spurs, replacing the returning Scott Parker.

123. 81'

Defoe finds space on the edge of the area. He shoots, but it's not one of his better-hit efforts and De Gea is more than equal to it.

124. 81'

Corner for United as Assou-Ekotto blocks a cross. Can they get the second goal that would put this one beyond doubt?

125. 82'

Not from this corner - cleared by Tottenham. But United soon win another free-kick, which Van Persie will look to bend into the area.

126. 83'

Walker is there for Tottenham, for whom time is running out in their quest for an equaliser.

127. 83'

Dembele tries to find one, but shanks his long shot horribly wide.

128. 84'

Walker runs, Dempsey tries to shoot - Phil Jones is there for United to make sure that he can't.

129. 85'

Five minutes of normal time remaining at White Hart Lane.

130. 86'

Dawson charges forward for Spurs. Huddlestone tries to pick out Defoe, but the pass is short and United cut it out before it falls to Bale and his shot is deflected narrowly wide.

131. 86'

From the corner, the United keeper catches confidently.

132. 87'

Carrick rather lumps the ball forward, and Spurs keep the pressure on. Three minutes and counting.

133. 88'

Valencia very nearly frees Welbeck as United try to break away. Spaces are, inevitably, opening up.

134. 88'

Groands from the crowd as Huddlestone gets his pass to Lennon all wrong and it goes out for a throw. This is not the time for the home side to be giving the ball away.

135. 89'

Lennon scampers in from the right and tries his luck with an effort from the edge of the box, which is blocked before it can travel very far.

136. 90'

We will have three added minutes at White Hart Lane.

137. 91'

Carrick, who has been excellent, heads another ball clear.

138. 92'

Then Dawson is adjudged to have fouled Welbeck. A little over a minute remaining.

139. 92'

Huddlestone has a shot deflected. Dempsey tries to make something of the rebound, but is unable to.

140. 93'

GOAL: Tottenham snatch an equaliser out of the blue, and right at the death - the ball is played low across the box by Lennon and Dempsey slides the cutback home from just outside the six-yard box.

141. 94'

Less than a minute remained when the ball crossed the line and United, despite their disciplined defending for so much of this game, have been unable to hold on for victory.

142. 94'

And that's the final whistle - Spurs have snatched a 1-1 draw, meaning they have now taken four points from Manchester United this season. All square at the Lane.
