Norwich City – West Bromwich Albion

1. The battle for a place in the Premiership is hotting up as top-of-the-table Norwich City play host to West Bromwich Albion. Join us for full commentary from 19.45 GMT

2. It's first versus second in the First division. Norwich have the division's best home record, West Brom have the best away record. So with a place in the Premiership in sight for both sides we can expect a tight game...

3. Wets Brom get us under way and punt the ball up field and out of play

4. 1'

Drury works it down the left and gets a cross in at the second attempt that Holt collects

5. 2'

Already clear that Chambers has been given the task of man marking Huckerby

6. 3'

Long ball forward down the right for Facey to chase but he looses his footing and it runs out for a goal kick

7. 4'

Johnson is caught high in the chest by Mackay's knee on the edge of the Norwich box. Free kick in a dangerous position

8. 5'

Square ball laid into the path of Chambers on the edge of the D. His shot is weak though and doesn't trouble Green's goal

9. 6'

Possession traded between the teams in the middle of the park

10. 7'

Chambers gets a little to close to Huckerby out by the left touchline to concede a free kick

11. 8'

Brennan swings a high, looping ball in to the far post. Roberts is penalised for a bit of pushing before the ball can land

12. 9'

Haas, getting forward well down the right reaches the byline. Under pressure though his attempted cross goes behind

13. 10'

Neither side really taking charge of the early stages of the game

14. 11'

Flemming has to be alert to cut across Facey, this time down the left

15. 12'

Throw in finds Facey down towards the left corner flag. Massive cheer as his attempted cross sees a classic air shot and the ball away for a goal kick

16. 13'

Huckerby gets the ball at his feet for the first time in the match. Twists and turns coming in from the left but turns too sharply for himself and falls over

17. 14'

Period of pressure from Norwich as West Brom seem happy to sit deep and allow them the ball. the plan looks to be to deny the home side space in the final third

18. 16'

Series of long, hopeful balls forward from West Brom that the Norwich back line can deal with all night

19. 17'

Ball spread wide right to Edworthy who powers forward down the line. Has time to set himself up but his cross is still poor and goes behind the line

20. 18'

Koumas skips past a host of Norwich defenders as he makes a diagonal run across the pitch and in to the box. Cuts the ball back across the goal as he shoots and though the effort had little power, it brushes the outside of the post

21. 19'

Bernt Haas is the first player to be booked as he challenges Drury with a high foot

22. 20'

Hold up in play whilst Dury receives treatment for the injury he picked up from a knee in his face

23. 22'

Ball breaks to Koumas in the middle of the pitch and he sets off for goal. As the Norwich defence backs off he tries one from 25 yards and Green is at full stretch to save low to his right

24. 23'

Drury tries to bundle his way into the West Brom box but there are too many defenders and Robinson clears

25. 24'

Neitherside is sparkling as of yet. West Brom will be the happier of the two sides as they are keeping the crowd quiet

26. 25'

Roberts is booked for an arm in Gregan's face. There really wasn't much in it and the striker was looking at the ball the whole time. Poor division

27. 27'

Roberts gets a decision in his favour this time as Gaardsoe is all over him competing for a high ball forward

28. 28'

Free kick in is a good one but Hoult came through a crowd to claim well

29. 29'

Facey is quickly on to a ball over the top. Green comes flying out of the area but misses the ball and Facey. From a tight angle he tries the shot but Fleming has got back to cover the empty net. Bounces off his knee - and possibly his hand - as he clears

30. 30'

Robinson becomes the third player to be booked - rightly this time. I don't think he will be the last

31. 31'

Robinson out wide left swings in a stinging cross but Fleming meets it and heads well clear

32. 32'

Ball is returned to Brennan on the edge of the D. Tries his luck but in the end misses by a distance

33. 33'

Horsfield makes use of his strength for the first time to spin off the back of Fleming in the box but as he tries to get his shot away, McVeigh does enough to put him off. Arguably he tugged him back and half a shout for a Baggies penalty

34. 34'

West Brom are now looking the more threatening of the two teams

35. 35'

Edworthy sends a long throw in to the box but a period of head tennis sees it clear

36. 37'

Drury puts in a fantasic cross from the left to pick out Francis who is free just outside the six yard box. As defenders get back to cover he heads straight at Hoult. Good chance missed

37. 38'

Huckerby given a chance to show his speed and tricks as he is one against one with Chambers. Looks to have the better of him but a sliding tackle sends the ball back to his keeper. Appeals for a foul from the home fans and Huckerby but the referee looked to get it right

38. 39'

Holt gets his name taken for protesting too much

39. 40'

Free kick from 30 yards out by Koumas causes Green to have to work but he does well

40. 42'

Dong dong end to the half as the ball pings around the West Brom box. Cruching tackle/blatent foul from Chambers at the heart of it; ball breaks and the same man makes a block with his chest (or possibly his hand).

41. 43'

replays from the earlier incident show that Chambers did in fact bring down Huckerby and so should have been sent off. Norwich could argue for a handful of decisions that have gone against them

42. 44'

McVeigh swings in a great ball from the right that sees Brennan climb highest and angle a header down to the left that narrowly misses the goal

43. 45'

    Two minutes of added time

44. 45'

Hiorsfield bundles his way through a couple of weak challenges half way inside the Norwich half until he finds himself 25 yards out and in front of goal. The run was untidy and so is the shot as it clatters off the back of Mackay and harmlessly away.

45. 45'

That's the last action of the half and the teams go in at 0-0

46. 45'

Pretty poor fare on aoffer in the 'clash of the best two teams outside the Premiership' Anything good from the Baggies in an attacking sense has been through Koumas but they are clearly here to not loose first and foremost

47. 45'

Norwich themselves have offered little and are clearly suffering from the shackling job that Chambers is doing on Huckerby. Chambers has been at the heart of controversy and probably should be off the pitch after upending Huckerby when he was clean through. Lets hope for better in the second...

48. 45'

Norwich start the second half with both sides having made no changes at the break

49. 46'

Francis finds the overlapping dworthy who gets a ball over that, after some confusion, Robinson hooks over his own net for a corner

50. 47'

Deep cross back to Drury in space outside the box. Takes a touch but hooks the shot into the crowded box

51. 48'

Facey finds space down the right and puts across a ball that encourages Green off his line to parry. Johnson follows up but Green is up quickly to make a brave point blank stop. Great save from the Norwich keeper

52. 49'

Huckerby spins round Chambers and cuts inside from the left. Plays a short ball to the feet of Francis who can't control it. He's tackled and the ball runs back to Hoult. Swings a foot at it but it spins over his boot and past him. Very nearly a terrible own goal but uckily for Hoult it goes just wide of the net

53. 50'

Break in play as Holt needs hte attention of the physio for the second time in the match

54. 51'

The pace and movement of the home side has improved noticably in the early part of the second half

55. 52'

School boy error from Haas as he is penalised for a foul throw

56. 53'

Johnson and Holt clatter into each other in a genuine fight for the ball. The physios are being made to earn their keep tonight

57. 54'

Flick on by Roberts is too far ahead of Huckerby for him to catch it but, as no advantage is gained, the referee blows up for a foul on the Welsh forward

58. 55'

A real battle going on but there is no room for skill or finess

59. 57'

West Brom probing to find a way into the Norwich final third. Eventually Haas joins the attack and a long way out but directly in front of goal cracks a low drive towards goal. Good positioning from Green means he is able to get down to his left in good time

60. 58'

First substitution of the night as Drury, who has been in the wars all night, is replaced by Phillip Mulryne

61. 59'

McVeigh curls a cross from the left that looks there to be attacked by Francis halts his run into the six yard box

62. 60'

Huckerby goes deep to collect and then turns to face Chambers,. On a long run with little support he twists and turns his marker until he is forced to concede a corner

63. 61'

McVeigh comes off the left touch line and drives in to the box. Sends an arrowed effort at the near post which is turned away for a corner

64. 62'

The corner is swung in and put behind for another. Good spell of pressure from Norwich

65. 63'

Scott Dobie comes on in the place of Delroy Facey

66. 64'

With virtually everyone in the six yard box it was inevitable that the goalkeeper would get the benifit of the doubt and be awarded a free kick. Not a lot in it, just everyone competing for the same ball

67. 65'

The home side seem to be taking control of the game and look more likely to break the deadlock

68. 67'

Long ball up to the edge of the box is well won in the air by Roberts who nods down to Francis. Snap shot is not the best and is dragged well wide to the left

69. 68'

Deep cross from the right is destined for Dobie at the far post until Mackay intervines and puts away for a corner

70. 69'

Corner swung over from the right goes through a crowd of bodies until it finds Haas who rather predictably sends his effort wide

71. 70'

Iwan Roberts tired legs are replaced by Mathias Svensson

72. 71'

Free kick for Norwich dead in front of goal about 22 yards out. Mulryne tries to delicately bend one round the wall. Misses the wall but also the goal

73. 72'

Svensson is crudely pulled back in the box by Gaardsoe but the referee is having none of it

74. 73'

Svensson talks his way into the referee's notebook after protesting about the decision

75. 74'

At the other end Dobie challenges Hoult in the West Brom net when he really had little chance of getting to it and he too sees yellow

76. 75'

Haas gets the better of Huckerby with a fine tackle as the Norwich man treatened to break clear. Huckerby is hurt and requires treatment for a few moments before he is up and running again

77. 77'

Gaardsoe and Svensson clash on the edge of the box. Svensson backs into the Baggie defender before they fall in a heap but the referee awards in the home side's favour

78. 78'

Mulryne steps up to bend one and he is not far off. The ball just doesn't dip in time and lands on the roof of the net

79. 79'

Some tired legs on the pitch now and the game, still not of great quality, is at least starting to open up a bit

80. 80'

The niggly fouls continue to add up at pace and the referee reaches for his pocket once more. Koumas the seventh player to be booked

81. 81'

Period of awful play from both teams as the ball is given away as if neither side wants it

82. 82'

Norwich look to release Huckerby who has started playing wide to try and get some of the ball. Great ball forward for him to chase but he sets off just too soon and is offside

83. 83'

Francis does well to win a long ball forward and lay back to McVeigh. He curls in a decent enough cross from deep on the left and Svensson shapes for an overhead kick before Gaardsoe intervenes and clears

84. 85'

All norwich at the moment as they are camped in the West Brom half

85. 86'

Huckerby out wide on the left shadowed as ever by Chambers. The attacker manages to turn and face him and tries to beat him at the line but the ball runs out for a goal kick

86. 87'

McVeigh's night is over as he is replaced by Leon McKenzie

87. 88'

West Brom make a change. Niel Clement on for Kinsella

88. 89'

A deflection off the referee in the middle of a Norwich attack allows Svensson to bend a ball out to Huckerby on the right. Shapes as if to shoot first time which fools Gregan but instead cuts back and lets fly. Strong effort but there are bodies in the way

89. 90'

    three minutes of added time

90. 90'

Free kick is thrown in to the West Brom box - as are most of the Norwich defence. A bit of pushing and pulling results in a West Brom free kick being awarded

91. 90'

Clement and Edworthy square up to each other briefly after a tackle by the former on the latter.

92. 90'

It's all over and the points are shared after a hard fort contest

93. 90'

Really not a great game at all. If either or even both of these sides are to play at a higher level then they will need to play a bit more football. West Brom looked like they came for a draw and so will be the happier of the two sides. Seven yellow cards and no goals tells the story of this one
