Newcastle United – Manchester City

1. Live commentary will appear here from 1330 BST.

2. Ahead of the kick-off, you can read Roberto Mancini's claim that this match will be tougher than the Manchester derby <a href="http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1061727/man-city-boss-roberto-mancini-expects-tough-newcastle-test" target="_blank">here</a>.

3. James Dall has provided a preview of the match, which you can read by clicking <a href="http://soccernet.espn.go.com/preview/_/id/318124" target="_blank">here</a>.

4. <img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2012/0503/alanpardewrobertomancinispotlight_275x155.jpg"><br>Alan Pardew will be looking to derail Roberto Mancini's title hopes.

5. Unsurprisingly, both teams are unchanged after fantastic results last time out.

6. At the risk of falling prey to the hype that permeates the Premier League every now and again, this is a massive game in the north east. This surely represents the final hurdle for City. Win today, and they will be odds on to claim their first title in 44 years.

7. Newcastle, again, have nothing to lose. No-one expected them to finish in the top four, many still don't, so they can go out and give this a right go. Even if they lose today, they can still claim fourth if they win on the final day and Arsenal lose at West Brom.

8. Here's a reminder of the <a href="http://soccernet.espn.go.com/tables/live/_/league/eng.1/barclays-premier-league?cc=5739" target="_blank">Premier League table</a> as it stands. Keep it close - it may come in handy.

9. Prior to the game Newcastle unveiled a statue to the late, great Sir Bobby Robson. <a href="http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1064060/newcastle-united-unveil-sir-bobby-robson-statue?cc=5739" target="_blank">The full story is here</a>. Great to see such an important man in the club's history honoured. Can that spur the home side on to victory?

10. Manchester City have won nine on the road this season - losing five too. Newcastle have lost just twice at home all campaign, to West Brom and Chelsea.

11. Opera singer Graham Danby is on the pitch singing the 'Blaydon Races' to whip up an atmosphere. It's crackling at SJP.

12. 1'

    <b>KICK OFF</b>

13. 2'

Two early balls into City's box, dealt with by first Toure, then Hart.

14. 3'

Cisse's first touch is met with cries of "Shoooot," from the home crowd.

15. 4'

Cisse draws a foul from Kompany. Edgy start from both teams.

16. 5'

Newcastle with the majority of possession so far. Looks like a straight 4-4-2 from the home side. City sitting in at present.

17. 6'

Patient possession from Newcastle at the moment. City letting them make the running.

18. 7'

A nasty blow for Barry as he lent in to reach the ball and Cabaye went in with a flick of the boot. No malice involved.

19. 8'

Decent stat: Newcastle haven't conceded in their last four home games. Cue City goal.

20. 9'

A decent run forward from Zabaleta and a nice pass from Tevez but the ball skips off the turf and eludes the right back.

21. 10'

First slice of menace from City as Perch blocks Nasri's shot and Williamson nicks the ball from Aguero. Corner.

22. 11'

City take the first corner short and almost catch Newcastle napping. From the second Tiote clears. As City rebuild Silva gets into the box and forces a good save from Krul.

23. 12'

And now City are dominant. All it took was one move. Newcastle do have a chance to break though as Cisse feeds Ba but Kompany tackles him well.

24. 13'

More danger for Newcastle as Nasri gets into the area but Coloccini does well. The home side are clinging on here. Can't get the ball or keep it when they do.

25. 14'

Newcastle have just been sucked back 30 yards since that first eight minutes or so. Tiote stretching his leg. He's vital today.

26. 15'

Slight respite for Newcastle but still no grip of the ball. Tiote moving gingerly.

27. 16'

One local journalist has just described Yaya Toure as a "turbo-charged wardrobe." Ben Arfa tries to release Ba but he can't control the ball.

28. 17'

Decent move from City, Silva finds Aguero who steps inside Perch but can't get much power on his shot. Krul clutches onto it as Tevez waited to pounce.

29. 18'

Just the 77% posession for City at present.

30. 19'

The other effect of City's dominance is to silence the crowd a little. No purchase up front for Newcastle.

31. 20'

Williamson bails out Krul who came for a long ball and fails to get there before Aguero. His cross is hacked away from Tevez. Corner.

32. 21'

Krul doesn't come for the corner either and it flashes across the six yard box. Clichy hammers wide from range as it comes out to him.

33. 22'

Excellent from Cabaye, flinging it wide to Cisse who tries to return the ball but overhits it.

34. 23'

Good break from CIty, space down the left and Clichy's cross finds Aguero but his touch takes the ball behind for a goal kick.

35. 24'

City are looking very threatening here and again, Krul has to be sharp to come out and dive at Silva's feet after a deflection fell loose.

36. 25'

Newcastle's defence just about holding up here. How long can they last?

37. 26'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> Ben Arfa gets a yellow as he clips Clichy's heels as the defender was about to get into the box. Free kick left edge.

38. 27'

Tevez has a pop and Krul does well as the ball bounces right in front of him at the near post.

All the 2pm kick offs about to get going. Join <a href="http://es.pn/INlPMF" target="_blank">Chris Atkins for MatchDay Live here</a> or why not open another windows and miss nothing?

40. 29'

Ben Arfa does well to get down the right, he cuts it inside to Ba but his shot from 30 yards was speculative and flies two yards over.

41. 30'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> Now Barry is carded as Ba tried to release Cabaye through on goal. A nailed on card. Clever from Barry though, in a sense.

42. 31'

Cabaye's free kick is blocked as is Tiote's follow up. Newcastle forced back to Krul who clears poorly but Nasri's long range effort flicks a player and dribbles back to the keeper.

43. 32'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> Tiote gets carded for a slide on Silva as he ran on Newcastle's centre backs. Webb lets the move proceed until Nasri is tackled, then he pulls it back. Free kick 30 yards out.

44. 33'

Silva neglects to shoot and clips it towards the back post where no-one is anywhere near profiting from it. Odd. Very odd.

45. 34'

Huge danger for City as Gutierrez pinches the ball from Zabaleta, plays it into the area, Ba's shot from 12 yards is blocked, then Hart parries Ben Arfa's volley.

46. 35'

Much better from Newcastle and City now know they can be hurt at the back. Clichy's block from Ba was excellent, Hart's save vital too. That will give Newcastle belief.

47. 36'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15">Superb little ball from Cabaye as Cisse lurched into the area. Hart was alive to it and came out to claim. Then Perch is booked for a clip on Tevez. Webb's gone card happy.

48. 37'

Oh my word, Zabaleta pulls a ball across the goal and it rolls all the way across the penalty spot without anyone meeting it. Newcastle clear, relieved.

49. 38'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> Now Toure gets a yellow! Santon does well to poke the ball clear and was away at Kompany without Toure's trip.

50. 39'

This has developed into a cracking, even game now. Gutierrez's shot blocked then Ben Arfa crosses and Ba heads over. A goal is coming here, you can feel it.

51. 40'

What a scramble! Silva pulls the ball back for Barry, Coloccini blocks his shot, the ball comes back to Barry and Santon clears off the line before a combo of Krul and Perch hack it clear! Incredible.

52. 41'

Now Silva clips a great ball into the box but Aguero handles. The replay from that incident a moment shows a brilliant block from Santon, then a great tackle from Krul to help clear the ball!

53. 42'

That is the danger for Newcastle. City are so dangerous on the break. All hands to the pump to prevent it becoming 1-0 then.

54. 43'

Ba and Kompany clash but the striker helps pull him up after flicking him with his heel. Good battle.

55. 44'

Clichy stands firm as Ben Arfa tried to outpace him. He's been peripheral it is fair to say. Then Kompany tackles Cisse three times in a row on the edge of the box. Good defending.

56. 45'

<b>HALF TIME</b> Well, it began slowly but turned into an excellent half. Chances at both ends but City looking the more threatening. Santon's clearance off the line the highlight for City, Ben Arfa's volley the closest Newcastle came.

57. <img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2012/0506/nasritiote20120506_275x155.jpg"><br>Chiek Tiote and Samir Nasri battle for posession

58. Elsewhere, it remains Villa 0-0 Spurs, which isn't bad for Newcastle. Obviously, a Villa goal would be preferable, while Spurs will want City to find the net in the second half.

59. A reminder that our <a href="http://es.pn/INlPMF" target="_blank">MatchDay Live chat is here</a> - you won't miss a slice of action.

60. Right, here it is. A huge 45 minutes for Manchester City and Newcastle. No changes.

61. 46'

    We begin again....

62. 47'

A cagey start to the half. When will City bomb forward?

63. 48'

Aston Villa are in front against Spurs. Good news for Newcastle. Ciaran Clark with it.

64. 49'

Gutierrez is penalised for a foul on Zabaleta, then kicks the ball away - though he did hit it near to where the foul was given. No card.

65. 50'

Gutierrez tries to cross but Zabaleta gets a block on and Toure comes forward.

66. 51'

Tevez wins a free kick from Perch, who tried to pinch the ball. In line with the left edge of the box about 25 yards out.

67. 52'

Toure takes it but his curler never looked like dropping beneath the bar in time.

68. 53'

Silva has been excellent today and he finds Clichy, who wins a corner off Perch.

69. 53'

Another session of pinball in the box as Gutierrez hacks a ball up in the air. It drops to Toure, then Tevez, who fires wide.

70. 54'

Not quite happening for Newcastle up front today - Cabaye tries to release Ba but the ball is poor.

71. 55'

Tevez shoots from 30 yards but the ball bounces before Krul which helps to take the pace off.

72. 56'

Miscommunication between Tevez and Aguero costs City a chance to break.

73. 57'

Gutierrez battles with Barry and is lucky not to get booked for that. Newcastle wasted a decent chance to cross.

74. 58'

Perch wastes another good chance to get the ball into the box. Ben Arfa was next to him too.

75. 59'

Brilliant control from Ba complemented by a few keepy-uppies but then an abitious volleyed pass for Cisse is cut out. Not the time for theatrics Demba, Pardew expresses colourfully.

76. 60'

Ben Arfa tricks Toure but then tricks himself, clipping the ball off his back heel and conceding a goal kick.

77. 61'

Newcastle playing on the break now. Looks like De Jong might be about to come on. Then Toure can be pushed further forward.

78. 62'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Nasri makes way. De Jong roundly booed - it was his challenge that broke Ben Arfa's leg last season.

79. 63'

Toure will present a different problem for Newcastle now. Tiote will have to be alive to his danger.

80. 64'

Some desperate defending inside the area from Williamson and Coloccini as Tevez grabbed hold of the ball. Great fight.

81. 65'

Then a rare break from Newcastle as Ba feeds Ben Arfa, he tricks onto his right and has a decent sight of goal from ten yards but slices wide.

82. 66'

A long ball into the box from Silva and Krul is fouled by Lescott.

83. 67'

Ba is looking a bit greedy here, Ben Arfa and Cisse were up with him but he tries to beat two men and score. Still a threat on the counter Newcastle.

84. 68'

Toure drifts a ball wide for Zabalet, who tries a volleyed dink into the area that is too long for eveyone. Dzeko being readied.

85. 69'

A tense mood has descended on SJP now - both teams fans nervous.

86. 70'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Tevez trots off and Dzeko is on in his place.

87. 70'

    <img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/goal.gif"> <b>GOAL</b> Toure scores!

88. 70'

A superb finish from Toure as he curls the ball round Krul and into the far corner! Krul no chance and City rejoice!

89. 71'

The bench go absolutely crackers and well they might. Is that the goal that will bag them the title? Fitting it was Toure - he has been immense.

90. 72'

So, what now for City? Sit back and soak up pressure or try and grab a decisive second?

91. 73'

Cisse barges Barry off the ball then stands on his opponent's arm. A bit naughty but hopefully not intentional.

92. 74'

Dzeko outmuscles Perch under a long ball but skews his shot wide from an angle. Aguero shakes his head.

93. 74'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Newcastle changes - Ameobi for Ben Arfa and Ferguson for Perch.

94. 75'

Aguero has missed a one-on-one! Clipped through by Silva he only has Krul to beat from 12 yards but he sends it wide. Goodness me.

95. 76'

So, Newcastle now have Cisse, Ba and Ameobi as their front three. Mancini was bereft when Aguero's shot rolled wide.

96. 77'

Ferguson wins a corner for Newcastle after Hart came out to punch a long ball.

97. 78'

Ameobi crosses and Cisse nods wide of the near post. Newcastle having a good spell now though.

98. 79'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> Zabaleta chops down the flying Ferguson and Newcastle can load the box. A yellow duly arrives.

99. 80'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> Another yellow - this time for Ferguson for a late tap on Silva. City are angry though as the long ball fell for Ageuro, who was one on two with Newcastle's back pair.

100. 81'

Tottenham's Danny Rose has been sent off. More good news for Newcastle and Arsenal.

101. 82'

Toure rises to meet Silva's cross and Toure nods wide from six yards out. Oh my, what a chance.

102. 83'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Ryan Taylor is on for Tiote, who was walking a tightrope.

103. 83'

Incredible! Toure is sprung clean through, tries to round Krul but slips! Then he manages to touch it off to Aguero and his shot is flicked over by Krul. My oh my.

104. 84'

Now Dzeko pokes over from four yards out at the near post as Silva's corner drops to him. Will City rue these missed chances?

105. 85'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Another City change, Micah Richards on for David Silva.

106. 86'

A deep cross is nodded across goal by Cisse, then by Ba and Ameobi can't get ahead of Lescott to touch it home. Tense times.

107. 87'

Aguero crosses for Dzeko but Ameobi cuts out the ball! Newcastle want him up the other end.

108. 88'

A long ball drops to Ameobi who makes a sweet connection on the half volley before Richards blocks. Corner.

109. 89'

     <img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/goal.gif"> <b>GOAL</b> Toure again!

110. 89'

Toure grabs the second as City break away and a smart finish from City's best player. It is City's title!

111. 90'

A lovely pass from Clichy to set it up, through Santon's legs and Toure couldn't miss. City have passed the squeaky bum test with flying colours.

112. 91'

Newcastle pour forward and Ameobi crosses for Ba to spin and shoot but Hart saves superbly.

113. 91'

Now Ameobi shoots from range and Hart saves easily. City's fans sing "We're going to win the league.."

114. 92'

Newcastle have run out of gas a bit here and more bad news for the Toon comes with the news that Spurs have got a penalty.

115. 92'

     Adebayor scores!

116. 93'

<b>FULL TIME</b> Manchester City have one hand on the Premier League trophy!

117. 93'

In the end it was well deserved - a huge test passed for City and once again Yaya Toure proved the difference. The fans know it and the players do too - they are on course for their first trophy in 44 years.

118. 93'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2012/0506/yayatoureceleb20120506_275x155.jpg"> <br>Yaya Toure celebrates opening the scoring

119. 93'

Disappointment for Newcastle, especially given Tottenham have levelled against Villa. They will sit fifth as it stands but within touching distance of both Arsenal and Newcastle. They could yet get into the Champions League if results go their way but it looks unlikely.

120. 93'

Right, no rest for the wicked, <a href="http://soccernet.espn.go.com/gamecast/_/id/318067?cc=5739" target="_blank">straight over for commentary on Man Utd v Swansea</a>. Fergie's men have to win to keep their faint hopes alive, and preferably, by about ten goals.
