Manchester United – Swansea City

1. Live commentary will appear here from 1600 BST.

2. Roberto Mancini may have described Manchester United's game against Swansea as "easy", but Manchester City didn't find their last game against the Swans so simple so this could be a tough task for Sir Alex Ferguson's men.

3. United will be without Danny Welbeck and Jonny Evans for the match, which you can read about here.

4.
Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to bounce back from the Manchester derby defeat.

5. Manchester City's victory at Newcastle means a win is a must for Man Utd today - even though their title hopes are looking slim at best now. Three points behind, with an inferior goal difference, they must win and pray QPR can do them a favour.

6. Javier Hernandez, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia all return to face Swansea, as Sir Alex fields a much more attacking line up than last week at City.

7. As for Swansea, Mark Gower replaces Leon Britton, while Angel Rangel and Neil Taylor are back in place of Andrea Orlandi and Garry Monk.

8. A hugely dramatic day in the Premier League - here are the latest scores.

9. Right we are all set. United need a big big win. Can they get it?

10. 1'

    KICK OFF

11. 2'

Some neat passing from Swansa to ease themselves into the game. The big pitch will suit them.

12. 3'

A poor cross from Jones as United worked the ball well down the left.

13. 4'

Very subdued atmosphere inside Old Trafford, predictably.

14. 5'

Carrick spreads the ball wide for Young but he can't control as the ball dropped over his head.

15. 6'

Some loose passing from both sides so far. Rooney hits the ball right at Gower.

16. 7'

Swansea struggling for an outlet up the field as Graham fights a lone battle.

17. 8'

Low key would be a good way to describe this opening nine minutes or so.

18. 9'

Boring would be another word, but I wouldn't possibly dare to use that.

19. 10'

A half chance for Rooney inside the area but he is closed down swiftly by a posse of white shirts.

20. 11'

Now Swansea gets some space on the edge of the area, the move ends with Dyer cutting in and hitting a shot over the bar with his weaker left foot.

21. 12'

Two dangerous crosses into the area but Swansea defend them both well.

22. 13'

Rooney finds Hernandez inside the box with a good pass but Chicarito's control had to be perfect to allow him to shoot and it wasn't. Williams steps in.

23. 14'

Carrick has a pop from range but Caulker gets a block on the ball allowing Vorm to claim it easily.

24. 15'

Easy to see why Swansea have had success - their close passing is so accurate it often open up space for people like Sigurdsson and Sinclair to pick out a killer pass.

25. 16'

Evra gets lucky as he nods Taylor's deep cross into Dyer's path but the winger can't control that ball.

26. 17'

Swansea's fans singing: "Premier League and we're having a laugh."

27. 18'

This is a great occasion for them, safe in mid table they can go and express themselves without a care in the world.

28. 19'

Rangel clips the advancing Young. He has been warned about his theatrical tumbles, but that wasn't one.

29. 20'

Two good saves from Vorm as first Evra then Young pepper his goal. The first was an excellent save after it took a little flick off Williams.

30. 22'

Sigurdsson finds Dyer wide with Evra to beat but the winger returns the ball and the eventual shot is charged down by Carrick.

31. 23'

Not a whole lot of urgency on show at Old Trafford so far. Not surprising the wind has been knocked out of United's sails.

32. 24'

A half chance for Graham as he is fed by Sigurdsson but his shot on the turn lacks power as Ferdinand came across.

33. 25'

Young stays on his feet as Rangel flicked a boot towards him. Then his attempted pass for Valencia is poor.

34. 26'

Caulker does well inside the area as Rooney looked set to pounce on a loose ball.

35. 28'

     GOAL Scholes scores!

36. 28'

Valencia gets to the byline and pulls the ball back, Carrick stabs on goal and Scholes flicks it into the net from two yards out.

37. 29'

No celebration at all from United - they instantly jog back to the penalty area with such indifference I wondered for a minute if the goal had been ruled out.

38. 30'

It was very nearly 2-0! A great ball in from Valencia on the right and Hernandez fails to make enough contact on it to find the far corner.

39. 31'

Jones gets into the box - United's full backs are essentially playing as wing backs, so pushed on are they.

40. 32'

Young does his swan dive again as Rangel poked the ball behind for a corner. To be fair, he didn't appeal.

41. 33'

As they take the corner, Young's cross is flicked on by Scholes and Hernandez's shoulder takes the ball over the bar from two yards.

42. 34'

Dyer again fails to convince when he has space to run into, miscontrolling the ball and losing possession.

43. 35'

Rooney tries a curling shot towards the top corner but can't get it down in time.

44. 36'

Valencia's shot is blocked by Williams.

45. 37'

Good ball in from Jones but a good header clear from Williams. The service to Rooney and Hernandez hasn't been of the quality you'd expect yet.

46. 38'

Neat stuff from Sinclair, cutting inside Jones and sliding a lovely ball into the area to Taylor, who can't collect it.

47. 39'

Nice again from Jones, who swaps passes with Valencia and tests Vorm at his near post with a daisy cutter.

48. 41'

     GOAL Young makes it two!

49. 41'

A scramble in the area breaks to Rooney, his shot is blocked but it comes to Young who fires it into the far corner.

50. 42'

Again, no celebration. Young races to get the ball back. Swansea insistence on playing out of trouble hurting them badly there.

51. 43'

Young releases Hernandez this time and his cross is blocked behind by Caulker.

52. 44'

Super cross from Young but Williams is there again to nod clear. And again when Valencia gets past his man and has time to pick out a cross. Another corner.

53. 45'

HALF TIME Smalling nods wide from the corner, as Carrick wins the flick on and that is half time. United well on top, and Swansea's tiki taka approach in their own half costing them a little here.

54.
Scholes opens the scoring for Manchester United

56. 46'

We begin again with a change for Swansea - Britton replaces Gower..

57. 47'

Good ball into the box from Sigurdsson and Graham wants handball off Smalling. Hard to see from here but the striker was convinced.

58. 48'

As Richard Jolly points out, with Britton up against Scholes in midfield we've now got the English Xavi against the English Iniesta.

59. 50'

Decent effort from Sigurdsson with hardly any backlilft. It bounced in front of De Gea, who parried round the post.

60. 51'

And another decent attempt from the corner as the ball fell to Allen on the edge of the box but his left foot shot was weak and cleared upfield.

61. 52'

And as United broke, Valencia fed Rooney in the channel, his ball to the back post for Young was flicked away by Dyer. Great tracking back.

62. 53'

A bit more urgency now in the game as United come forward again - Rooney finding Young and his shot is deflected behind for a corner that Graham nods behind.

63. 54'

A poor corner from Rooney is followed by an even poorer cross when the ball was returned to him.

64. 56'

Rooney catches Britton a little late but is quick to help his opponent to his feet.

65. 57'

Smalling has enjoyed getting forward in this game, with only Graham to mark. The move that he starts ends with a Valencia cross and a Hernandez header just over the bar.

66. 58'

Super play from Young as he turns past one man, then clips the ball past Rangel as well. Caulker is across to clear.

67. 59'

So nearly a Swansea goal! Allen shoots from the edge of the box, Graham diverts it on goal and De Gea saves with his legs before claiming the ball a split second before Sinclair pounced.

68. 60'

A slip from Rangel now allows Young a sight of goal but the defender makes up for his error with a solid block on the shot.

69. 61'

There's a goal coming here - Evra's cross is flicked on by Hernandez and Valencia meets it at the far post. Taylor stands firm though and kills the shot dead, before Vorm dives on it.

70. 62'

Now Graham gets the better of Smalling, but is adjudged to have fouled the defender. He missed anyway.

71. 63'

Oh dear Nathan Dyer. A superb ball from Sigurdsson finds the winger, who steps inside Smalling before blazing a shot over the bar from 12 yards. What a chance.

72. 64'

Britton has provided Swansea with some impetus since he came on. A very tidy player.

73. 65'

Rooney jinks past Britton, then slips when Williams came across. He still won the corner though.

74. 66'

Tom Cleverley is about to come on.

75. 67'

A good battle between Sinclair and Valencia hands Swansea a free kick.

76. 68'

     Cleverley replaces Scholes.

77. 69'

Nearly a disaster for Taylor as he plays a back pass to Vorm when Hernandez was lurking. That was tight.

78. 70'

Sigurdsson wins a free kick from Smalling. He wants the free kick too and almost squeezes it into the near post. De Gea is across quickly to palm away.

79. 71'

Rooney gets his first yellow of the season, sliding in late on Britton as Valencia squared the ball to him. It had been coming.

80. 72'

     Luke Moore replaces Nathan Dyer.

81. 73'

A nice link up between Sinclair and Graham yields a corner.

82. 74'

A free kick is awarded to Vorm as he and Rooney challenge for a high ball. No foul there for me.

83. 75'

And now Rooney has missed a sitter. Valencia to Carrick, Carrick to Rooney and he clips wide from 12 yards out only Vorm to beat.

84. 76'

Swansea carrying much more of a threat in this second half as Sinclair cut inside and had a pop at goal. It's deflected behind for a corner.

85. 78'

Berbatov gets a rare run out and Rooney trots off.

86. 79'

Surely just Fergie reminding the football world that Berbatov is available for purchase at the right price.

87. 80'

Two corners in quick succession for the home side.

88. 81'

Make that three, as Hernandez's shot is blocked by Williams. Now four, as Rangel blocks Young's cross.

89. 82'

From the fourth, Jones rises well but Vorm is across to claim underneath the bar.

90. 83'

Well, it looks like Manchester United are going to ensure the title race goes down to the last day but they will want a few more goals to add to their tally.

91. 84'

Decent break from Swansea as Allen releases Graham but though he had three white shirts up in support, he elects for a shot and hits it right at De Gea.

92. 85'

Ferdinand is down as Swansea break. The move ends with Sigurdsson firing over and now Rio can get treatment.

93. 86'

An aimless Young cross rolls out of play.

94. 87'

Ferdinand comes off and is replaced by Rafael. It was to be Smalling, until that knock for his centre half partner.

95. 88'

A pedestrian second half is winding down. Swansea fans having a ball though.

96. 89'

Cleverley very nearly stabs the ball past Vorm as another dangerous centre dropped into the box.

97. 90'

Caulker comes off and Alan Tate, who was a Man Utd trainee, comes on for the final few minutes. A nice touch.

98. 91'

    Three minutes added...

99. 92'

So the goal difference between City and United looks like it will be eight. A hefty win at Sunderland required then, should City topple QPR.

100. 93'

FULL TIME So, Man Utd match Man City's margin of victory, but it is a muted celebration. They know they will more than likely fall short in their quest for a 20th title. Level on points, but eight goals behind their rivals. Scholes and Young with the goals.
