Fulham travel to Manchester United hoping to pull off an FA Cup shock in the evening game.

Rooney picks up the ball in Fulham's half and drives towards goal. He soon finds himself inside the box and manages to get the shot away but it trickles just wide.

The resulting corner hits Hughes on the hand and the ref has given the penalty!

What a start from United. Stupidity from Hughes though to give the penalty away.

Fulham are really up against it from the off. What have they got in response?

It's all United in these opening few minutes as Rooney charges towards goal once again but his pass towards Hernandez is easily intercepted.

Fulham have struggled to get out of their own half as United win another corner.

The home side take it short but Fulham soon clear the danger.

Riether gets a very dangerous ball into the box from the right wing but it somehow manages to just elude Berbatov in the middle.

It has certainly been an exciting opening eight minutes to the game, that is for sure.

Riether plays a neat pass to Kacaniklic but he is soon hassled off the ball and it rolls out for a United goal kick.

Riether has been getting forward well down the right wing early on for Fulham. Martin Jol will hope to see a lot more of that.

Riether gets a ball in from the right but Smalling is there to clear the danger with a diving header.

Hangeland tries a through ball to Kacaniklic but Smalling is there clear for a corner.

The resulting corner is poor and United avert the danger.

To be fair to Fulham they have got on the ball a fair bit since the goal and have not collapsed.

United knock the ball around nicely until Anderson's through ball is cut out and Fulham gain possession once again.

Duff picks the ball up on the right and tries to swing in a cross into the area but he overhits it and it runs out for a goal kick.

Riise fails to cut out a pass and allows Nani a route in on goal but his effort is easily saved at the near post by Schwarzer. It was a very tight angle for the Portuguese.

While Fulham are seeing a lot of the ball they need to get Berbatov or Ruiz in possession as they have the ability to hurt United.

Ruiz may need to drop deeper to pick up the ball as at the moment they are both quite far up the pitch.

Riether concedes the corner against Evra...

Rooney swings the corner in but he overhits it. Jones chases after it and sends it back in but he too puts too much on it and it runs out for the goal kick.

Another call for a penalty as Giggs chips a ball into the box that seems to hit Duff's arm. No spot kick given.

Anderson plays in Nani who fires a ball across the face of the goal. Rooney turns and shoots but Schwarzer makes a fine save to tip it onto the bar.

That would have been a huge blow to Fulham if they had conceded another there.

Fulham look very hesitant when they get near United's box. No cutting edge whatsoever at the moment.

Nani with a snap-shot from the edge of the box but he sends it right down the throat of Schwarzer.

Nani latches onto a ball over the top from Giggs and cuts inside before curling an effort well wide of the goal.

Nani had Hernandez in space to pass to there.

Rooney decides to shoot from distance but it is another comfortable save from Schwarzer.

United have had seven attempts on goal compared to Fulham's zero attempts.

Fulham still seeming pretty uninspirational when in possession. United, in contrast, look dangerous every time they attack.

Ruiz plays in Kacaniklic who sends a ball across goal, but the flag had already gone up for offside.

United starting to really dominate possession now. Fulham are struggling.

Carrick concedes possession but Ruiz is unable to do anything effective with it.

Rooney gets on the end of Rafael's ball into the box but Schwarzer makes a fine save at his near post to deny the striker.

Riether with a fine effort from distance that trickles just inches wide of the post. De Gea looked beaten.

Fulham give the ball away very cheaply. They need some inspiration at the moment big time.

After an exciting start to the game, it has faded quite a bit recently.

United probing Fulham's defence but Rooney's pass is poor and easily dealt with by the away side.

Duff gets a ball in from the left but Evra clears. It falls to Ruiz on the edge of the box but his effort deflects off Carrick and fails to trouble De Gea.

Sidwell bundles over Giggs on the edge of the box but no free-kick is given.

All United at the minute but they cannot seem to find a way past the Fulham defence.

Nani picks the ball up on the edge of the box and drives forward before firing an effort that canons back off a defender and away.

Fulham cannot even get hold of the ball now. They really need half time.

Anderson picks out Nani on the right but Riise does well to block his cross.

Nani cuts in from the right and tries to pick out the bottom corner but his effort drifts well wide in the end.

Riise seems to bring Rafael down on the edge of the box but the free-kick strangely goes the other way.

One minute of injury time to be played.

Fulham win a late corner. What can they create from here?

...not much as the referee blows for half time as the ball comes in. Smalling appeared to clatter into Sidwell but no penalty given.

A very comfortable first half for United, who have looked in total control from the very first whistle. Fulham have offered very little and are lucky to still be just the one goal down. They need to improve drastically if they want to progress into the next round.

Mark Schwarzer is out warming up during half time as he knows in the second half he will be facing another onslaught from United.

And Fulham get the second half underway...

Fulham start brightly as Berbatov fires an effort at goal from the edge of the box but it canons off a defender.

United break down the other end at Nani tries his luck from distance but he sends it wide.

United inches away from doubling their lead as Rooney shoots from close-range after some good work from Nani but Hughes is there to clear off the line.

Fulham still living on the edge then. There is only so much longer they can hold on before United get their second.

Anderson picks out Rooney with a lovely through ball. The striker turns Hughes before firing past Schwarzer. Great strike.

That feels like game over already. You just cannot see Fulham coming back from this based on their performance up to this point. But stranger things have happened...

Fulham twice fail to clear crosses before Hernandez takes advantage and smashes his strike into the bottom corner from close-range.

Game over now.

It could be a question of how many United are going to score. At this rate it could be five or six.

Fulham knocking it around but do not seem to be going anywhere.

Riise does well to clear a long ball over the top with Nani bearing down on him.

Giggs fires a dangerous ball into the box but he is just unable to pick out Rooney.

Berbatov tees up Duff on the edge of the box but his effort sails wide of the United goal.

United are happy to just sit deep now and let Fulham knock the ball around.

Berbatov takes aim at goal but once again his effort canons back off a United defender.

Fulham look as though they are on the verge of creating something but instead of someone shooting they keep passing it around the area until they eventually lose it.

Giggs plays Hernandez into the box. The striker is given far too much room and his shot deflects off Hughes past the helpless Schwarzer.

This is getting embarrassing for Fulham now. Nobody seems to be trying anymore.

Giggs drives at goal and tries to play in Rooney on goal but Schwarzer does well to come off his line to claim the ball.

United are really pegging Fulham back at the moment. This is a real onslaught.

Evra gets forward and passes to Hernandez who tries to curl an effort into the top corner but it goes high and wide.

Dejagah does well to win a corner for Fulham. Can they create anything from this?

Hughes does well to lose his marker and get on the end of Karagounis' corner to head home at the near post.

United almost reply instantly through Kagawa who cuts in from the left before firing a strike just over the bar. Unlucky.

Fulham attack through Berbatov but he soon gets closed down when he had Dejagah in space.

Fulham actually trying to play a bit of football now...

Rodallega picks up the ball from Dejagah and tries to play it back to him but fails to find his man.

Rooney has the ball in the back of the the net after a nice move from United but the whistle is blown for a foul on Hughes from Hernandez.

A lovely dummy from Berbatov sees Rodallega pick it up on the edge of the box but his ball back to the Bulgarian is overhit.

Fulham come forward through Dejagah but Jones arrives to stop him with a superb sliding tackle.

Nani bursts forward down the left but his cross into the box is easily dealt with by the Fulham defence.

Rodallega picks up the ball on the edge of the box but his effort sails wide of the post.

A shame that Fulham have saved their best football for when the game is over.

Evra joins in with the attack and sends a ball in from the left but nobody in a United shirt is able to get on the end of it.

Dejagah decides to have a go from outside the box but it deflects off Scholes for the corner.

Karagounis' corner is poor but Evra can only clear it for another set-piece.

The Greek's next corner, however, is cleared by United.

Two added minutes to be played.

Nani shoots from the edge of the box but his effort falls just wide of the post.

There goes the full-time whistle. United run out deserved winners in a game that never troubled them. Fulham were pretty woeful at times and could have easily lost by a far bigger margin.
