6. Here come the teams. United can pull level with Chelsea at the top of the league after the Blues drew at home to Everton.

7. 1'

   We're off...

8. 2'

Two early corners for Villa but United clear them both.

9. 3'

Heskey wins a free kick after a nudge in the back from Wes Brown.

10. 4'

Warnock swings in a deep cross but Kuszczak claims.

11. 5'

Valenica bursts down the right and cuts inside Warnock, but he passes when he should have had a crack. Villa clear the danger.

12. 6'

Emile Heskey finds some space in front of United's back four but dribbles a shot ten yards wide of the target. Poor. Very poor.

13. 7'

Nice link up between Anderson, Rooney and Park but the latter's cross is easily cut out by Dunne.

14. 8'

Park battles with Luke Young and gets a cross in but Warnock and Dunne tidy up at the back post.

15. 10'

Decent break from United as Giggs feeds ROoney in space on the left, he looks for Valencia but his cross is underhit and Warnock can turn it behind for a corner.

16. 11'

Giggs' corner is cleared then Carrick finds Park and only a good sliding challenge from Warnock denies him a run on goal.

17. 13'

Anderson turns Dunne and crosses but Cuellar clears.

18. 14'

Valencia skips past Warnock but Dunne gets across to prevent him shooting. Villa holding on here.

19. 14'

A good tussle between Agbonlahor and Evra ends with the Villa striker being penalised.

20. 15'

Valencia dithers again as Rooney wins a header but delays his shot and again is crowded out by a combo of Dunne and Warnock.

21. 17'

Ashley Young wins a free kick as Villa grab a breather.

22. 18'

Evra and Downing are on the floor after a clash of heads. Both got up for the ball and nodded each other. Nasty.

23. 20'

That break has stemmed the flow a little and the game is struggling to regain its pace.

24. 21'

    GOAL! Agbonlahor!

25. 21'

Agbonlahor feeds Young, then makes his way into the box and as the winger whips in a dangerous cross, Gabby glances it into the net as Kuszczak dithered.

26. 22'

Super goal that and totally against the run of play. Agbonlahor had a hand in creating it and polished it off too. Great play.

27. 23'

Carrick has a go from the edge of the box and Friedel is across smartly to save.

28. 24'

Heskey looks to release Agbonlahor on the counter but Wes Brown gets there first.

29. 25'

Rooney goes down in the box and gets a yellow card for diving. That was disgusting. No contact at all from Luke Young and he threw himself to the turf. He didn't argue with the card either. He knew he was bang to rights.

30. 26'

Dunne gets above Vidic to nod an Asley Young corner towards goal and the ball hits Evra, luckily for United.

31. 27'

Now Rooney goes close to an wqualiser as a cross came in from the left, he got a faint touch on it but Valencia couldn't turn it in at the far post.

32. 28'

Rooney wins a legitimate free kick this time after a clip from Cuellar. Decent chance to strike on goal here.

33. 29'

Rooney hits the wall with his effort and Giggs' follow up ball is poor.

34. 30'

What a chance! Agbonlahor robs Fletcher of possession and tries to square it for young to tap into an empty net, but Kuszczak gets a vital touch to allow Vidic to clear.

35. 31'

Rooney hits the bar! He turned on a sixpence at the near post and hammered his effort against the bar from eight yards out.

36. 31'

A cracking ball from Ashley Young has Vidic in all sorts of trouble, he manages to flick a leg out and put the ball over his own bar. That could have gone anywhere.

37. 32'

Villa are having a right go here and United are wobbling. Young puts in two crosses that cause concern but Vidic clears his lines. What a good game this is...

38. 33'

A clearing header from Fletcher prevents Young shooting, then Dunne tackles Rooney by the byline as he got into the box. Then Kuszczak has to put the ball out of play after a dodgy backpass. Its all happening...

39. 34'

Giggs gets possession in the centre of the park and crosses for Valencia but he can't connect with his header under pressure from Warnock.

40. 36'

Agbonlahor turns Vidic and hits a left footed shot from the edge of the area but it lacks power and Kuszczak gets down low to claim.

41. 37'

Rooney gets onto Evra's long ball and turns it to Giggs but the Welshman's touch is poor and Friedel is out to get the ball.

42. 38'

Just wide! Giggs connects with Fletcher's cross and the ball ricochets into space. He gets there before Friedel but can only find the side-netting.

43. 40'

Another great move from Villa as Warnock crosses, Agbonlahor lays-off to Heskey but Brown gets there in the nick of time to clear. United still haven't got it clear yet. Now they have.

44. 42'

Well done Warnock. He rises at the back post to steal the ball away from Valencia.

45. 43'

Giggs lets the ball run away from him after a good, mazy run. He wins a corner in the end.

46. 44'

Heskey is down after a brush in the face or chest from the jumping Brown.

47. 45'

Some great last-ditch defending from Villa as Evra gets into the box.

48. 45'

That's half time. An excellent opening 45 minutes. See you in 15 mins.

49. 45'

Manchester United introduce Michael Owen for Ryan Giggs. The hat-trick hero against Wolfsburg, can he produce the goods tonight?

50. 46'

KICK OFF United get us back underway.

51. 47'

Michael Owen is on, for Ryan Giggs.

52. 48'

Ashley Young has space down the right but his ball in is unusually poor.

53. 49'

Poor play from Rooney this time, who underhit a simple ball to Valencia. He tries to make amends with a delicate chip over the keeper but Friedel gets there.

54. 50'

Another wasteful ball by Ashley Young, who was under no pressure at all.

55. 51'

Now its Downing's turn to deliver a poor cross.

56. 52'

Rooney looks for Owen at the back stick but Dunne is there again. He's had a good game so far.

57. 53'

Agbonlahor hits one at goal but it lacks power and Kuszczak clings on to it.

58. 54'

Luke Young and Park clash but it looks like the former is in some trouble. He hasn't moved since he hit the floor. He got caught by Park's shoulder, then hit the deck hard. No intent from the United player.

59. 55'

Great ball across the face from Owen but no-one is on hand to tap it home. Rooney was at the near post but Park was lacking urgency at the back stick.

60. 56'

Now Rooney has a pop from 25 yards but skies it.

61. 57'

Good Villa move as Downing releases Warnock but his ball into the mixer is cleared. Milner was free on the penalty spot but the left-back didn't see him.

62. 59'

Valencia's corner is cleared then as the ball is returned to him Park, his attempted cross is woeful. It makes its way into the box eventually though and Carrick flashes an effort five yards wide.

63. 60'

Stephen Warnock's game is over, he's hobbled down the tunnel.

64. 61'

Valencia skips round Downing and picks out Rooney but Dunne blocks his shot. Good move.

65. 62'

Still Villa continue with ten men.

66. 62'

Park finds Rooney but this time his effort has no power behind it and Friedel watches it comfortably into his arms.

67. 63'

James Collins comes on for Warnock, and Park comes off for Berbatov.

68. 64'

Good football from Villa as Petrov finds Heskey and he gives it to Milner but the latter's volley goes wide.

69. 66'

Heskey latches onto a ball from Collins as Vidic misses his interception but its a typical finish from the big man, weak and off target, even though Kuszczak scrambles across goal to make sure it doesn't go in.

70. 67'

Valencia tries to go past Luke Young and cross but it s apathetic effort. Last change for United, Anderson off, Darron Gibson on.

71. 68'

    Evra wins a corner.

72. 69'

A decent spell of pressure from united now as Valencia's cross os met by Cueallar. Villa are sinking deeper and deeper into their own half though.

73. 71'

Rooney runs at Villa's back line and has two options, Owen to his left and Berbatov through the middle. He goes for the latter choice but overhits a simple ball and Friedel is out to grab it. Very disappointing from Rooney.

74. 72'

Gibson has a crack and the ball flies over. It got a nick of Milner and goes over the top for a corner.

75. 73'

Berbatov has missed a great chance! Owen feeds Carrick and he crosses but Berba fluffs his volley with the goal gaping. That sums up United's day.

76. 74'

    Heskey off, Carew on.

77. 75'

Carrick slides Rooney in down the left but again his ball is poor and it deflects up off Cuellar and into Friedel's mitts.

78. 76'

Rooney hits one on the volley from 25 yards and turns away in disgust as it flies over the bar.

79. 78'

Another poor ball from Rooney. He's had a stinker today.

80. 80'

This is getting really sloppy now. Neither side can keep hold of the ball for long enough to do anything with it.

81. 80'

Vidic meets a Rooney corner and Downing clears off the line at the back post. That's his last involvement, he's coming off and Nigel Reo Coker is on.

82. 81'

Rooney's ball hits Collins on the hand and the ref gives it. Hard to see how he could have got out of the way. Good chance for United, 25 yards out, pretty central.

83. 83'

Rooney touched it off to Gibson and the ball hits some poor Villa player in the wall - that was travelling.

84. 83'

Rooney tracks back to nick the ball from Reo Coker. He's not lacking in the want department, that's for sure.

85. 84'

Every single Villa player is now within 30 yards of their own goal. They have shut up shop good and proper.

86. 85'

Petrov wins the ball from Owen and realises he's got nobody anywhere near him.

87. 86'

Great save from Friedel as Berbatov turned and got a shot off. Superb stop.

88. 87'

Milner streaks up the field from United's corner and feeds Agbonlahor but his ball towards Young is terrible. He was probably knackered after his lung busting run infairness.

89. 88'

Wes Brown is on the edge of Villa's box but Milner brings the ball away and wins a throw in. Villa time-wasting at every chance they get now.

90. 89'

Not much doing for United as time drags on. They are camped in Villa's half but not getting that final ball right.

91. 90'

Three minutes added. Fergie goes predictably mental.

92. 91'

Berbatov lays-ff to Carrick but his volley squirms off the side of his boot and goes wide. Martin O'Neill is furious after Carew was brought down but the ref waved play on.

93. 92'

Berbatov loses possession to Petrov and then fouls his fellow countryman.

94. 93'

Milner goes to the corner flag but gives away a free kick, 20 seconds left...

95. 93'

That's it! Villa win at Old Trafford!

96. 93'

All credit to Villa - they were fantastic today and thoroughly deserved their win. United just weren't at it, and couldn't create anything of note in the second half. the players lap it up, as well they might. United stay second, three behind Chelsea. Villa are up third.
