Subs: Villafuerte, Guagua, Perlaza, Urrutia, Lara, Borja, Kaviedes, Ambrossi, Ayovi, Saritama, Lanza, Benitez. Costa Rica: Porras, Gonzalez, Umana, Wallace, Marin, Fonseca, Centeno, Solis, Sequeira,

2. 1'

A win today for Ecuador puts them in the last 16 for the first time. A draw keeps Costa Rica's hopes alive. They kick off.

3. 2'

Nice liittle move for Costa Rica as Centeno and Gonzalez combine before Gomez fires harmleslly wide.

4. 3'

Carlos Tenorio receives some treatment after landing awkwardly, but he seems ok to continue.

5. 4'

Wanchope sets off on a solo run, he finds Marin wide on the left, but his cross is poor and simple for Castillo to clear.

6. 4'

Mazy run from Wanchope to the corner flag. He earns Costa Rica a throw, and they have started the brighter.

7. 5'

Delgado drops deep to pick up a pass from De La Cruz and is fouled by Fonseca near the centre circle.

8. 6'

Hurtado chips the ball forward, Tenorio wins the flick-on, but Delgado can't reach it. No alarm for Costa Rica there.

9. 7'

Tenorio tries to slip a clever ball in for Delgado but Umana gets a foot in to thwart him.

10. 8'

GOAL - Carlos Tenorio, for the second time in this World Cup, heads Ecuador ahead. Luis Valencia provided the pinpoint cross after the persistent Delgado evaded his marker to find the midfielder on the wing. Fine header from Tenorio, he gave the goalkeeper no chance.

11. 10'

Costa Rica go down the other end and Centeno has a shot from 25 yards, but miscues it. Simple for the keeper.

12. 11'

Now the goalscorer appears to be in pain. Tenorio was hacked down by Marin, who gets the first booking of the game, He can't argue with that. but Ecuador's thoughts are with Tenorio. The stretcher comes on, and it doesn't look good for him.

13. 11'

Tenorio looks like he could be metatarsalled. Mendez goes for the curler with the free kick and an acrobatic Porras holds on at the far post.

14. 13'

Valencia finds room on the right once again, he cuts inside and passes to Mendez, whose first-time shot is tipped wide by Porras.

15. 14'

From the corner, the target man Delgado is able to get the header in, but his aim is awry and it goes wide.

16. 15'

Now a chance for Costa Rica to respond. They have a free kick 35 yards out which Centeno lines up. He chips it towards Fonseca, but De La Cruz is alert and heads clear.

17. 17'

Apology for some technical gremlins which have delayed the commentary. We're back up and running now (we think)

18. 18'

As things stand Ecuador and Germany will qualify today, Costa Rica and Poland will go out

19. 19'

Mendez is caught offside. Tenorio, meanwhile, has returned to the pitch after his injury scare.

20. 20'

Wallace and Centeno link up well but the latter's cross finds Ronald Gomez offside

21. 21'

Now Mendez comes forward for Ecaudor and so far, this is a pleasingly open game which holds the promise of further goals.

22. 21'

Late tackle from Sequeira who catches the heel of Delgado

23. 22'

Neat interception from Mendez on Solis. He finds Carlos Tenorio wide on the right. Then play is switched to the left and Mendez, with a backheel, wins a corner.

24. 23'

It is aimed at Espinoza, but he can't win his header. The ball is half-cleared to Reasco, who blazes over from the edge of the box

25. 24'

Solis knocks the ball down for Wanchope, but the juggling striker tries one too many tricks to get his shot in.

26. 25'

Quick reactions from Espinoza, who sees the danger when a ball bisects the Ecuador defence and is headed for Fonseca.

27. 26'

Solis advances to join Wanchope further forward, but a loose touch from the midfielder gives Ecuador possession

28. 26'

Gomez's pass is too wide for Wanchope to gather, but Costa Rica are looking positive now.

29. 28'

Mendez rolls over a couple of times after a challenge from Solis. The referee books the Costa Rican midfielder.

30. 29'

Early change for Costa Rica - the striker Saborio comes on Fonseca, who doesn't look injured as he departs

31. 29'

That looks like an attacking move for Costa Rica as they look for a way back into this match.

32. 30'

Meanwhile, Reasco heads away Centeno's centre.

33. 31'

Delgado wins a flick-on and the aerial power of these Ecuador strikers is apparent.

34. 31'

At the other end, Reasco hurriedly concedes a corner

35. 31'

Centeno takes, right-footed, but Delgado is the man on the near post to head away.

36. 32'

Wallace and Solis combine in the midfield, but there's no way through for Costa Rica there.

37. 33'

Mendez, who seems to get everywhere, turns up on the right wing now. Valencia has drifted inside, and eventually gets the ball, but can't return it to Mendez

38. 33'

Ronald Gomez is penalised for a jump into Valencia. Mendez takes, but a stooping defender can clear.

39. 34'

A second free kick for Ecuador, this one won by the overlapping left back Reasco.

40. 35'

It's wide on the left. Mendez goes for the shot, with whip and bend, but it is too high.

41. 35'

Wallace supplies a cross, but straight at the keeper Mora.

42. 36'

Hurtado creates a problem with a mistake, but solves it himself with a recovery tackle on Gomez.

43. 36'

Centeno goes for the spectacular with a crisp strike from all of 30 yards. It's well over.

44. 37'

Another free kick for Ecuador, this one won by Carlos Tenorio. Ecuador opt for possession rather than the ball into the box

45. 38'

Sequeira heads away a Valencia cross.

46. 40'

A Costa Rica cross is directed too close to the goalkeeper.

47. 41'

The speedy Valencia goes down the right again, his cross is deflected and is well tipped away by a backtracking Porras at the near post.

48. 42'

From the corner De La Cruz tries to cross but Centeno gets a foot in. Marin was the unfortunate defender who almost scored an own goal.

49. 42'

Great chance for Costa Rica. Gonzalez crosses to the unmarked Sequeira at the far post who heads down but wide.

50. 43'

Wanchope sets off on another run, but due to a breakdown in communications, passes to absolutely no one.

51. 44'

A booking for Segundo, who attempted to bring down Wanchope there. It may have been for persistent fouling.

52. 45'

Mora has to react quickly, coming to the edge of his box when Wallace looks like reaching a long pass.

53. 45'

Two additional minutes to be played in this first half.

54. 45'

Superb chance - and Delgado misses it. Valencia supplies the most tempting of low crosses, the striker goes with the wrong foot and toe-pokes it wide from six yards.

55. 45'

Half time, and Ecuador are on course for the last 16 courtesy of Tenorio's early goal. Plenty of good chances at either end, so the scoring shouldn't be over here.

56. 46'

A change for Ecuador, and Carlos Tenorio finally has gone off - perhaps a consequence of that first-half injury - and Ivan Kaviedes comes on. Ecuador get the second half going.

57. 46'

First clearance of the half comes from Hurtado, giving Costa Rica a throw.

58. 47'

Solis puts in a cross which is simple for Ecuador to clear.

59. 47'

Kaviedes' first involvement is a late tackle, but he gets away with it.

60. 48'

Valencia's curling ball is aimed at Delgado. Umana clears.

61. 48'

And Kaviedes's second involvement is a poor pass into touch - not an auspicious start for the sub.

62. 49'

Centeno darts infield and finds Gomez with a backheel. Then Wallace returns it to Centeno, but his cross is straight at Mora.

63. 50'

Low shot from distance drilled by Gomez. It's not far past the post, but the keeper probably had it covered.

64. 51'

Wallace picks out Wanchope in space on the right. Then it comes to Centeno, but it is a rare misplaced pass from the playmaker.

65. 53'

A mistake from Gonzalez gives Delgado the ball. He finds Valencia whose cross goes back to Delgado at the back post. He shoots, but too close to the keeper.

66. 54'

Delgado gets a flick to De La Cruz's long throw, but Kaviedes is dozing there.

67. 54'

Yellow card for De La Cruz, deemed guilty of time-wasting already. That seems harsh.

68. 55'

Goal - a terrific half-volley from Agustin Delgado from an acute angle

69. 55'

He met a pass from Mendez with chest control and thumped his shot in at the near post - though perhaps the keeper could have done better.

70. 56'

And now Ecuador have one foot in the second round. Costa Rica's poor defending has cost them.

71. 56'

Costa Rica make a change. Carlos Hernandez comes on for Leonardo Gonzalez.

72. 56'

Saborio, the other sub, heads some way over. No real threat for Costa Rica this half.

73. 57'

At this early stage, Delgado and Carlos Tenorio are among the joint top scorers in the World Cup.

74. 57'

Here goes De La Cruz, who has won Ecuador a throw. For once, they don't go for the long option and find Mendez, who is robbed by Centeno.

75. 58'

Gomez's cross sails over the goal and as it stands Costa Rica are going out.

76. 59'

But not if Solis has anything to do with it. A terrific solo run culminates in a shot Mora pushes wide at the near post.

77. 60'

Mora becomes the second Ecuadorian booked for timewasting.

78. 61'

Now Valencia comes forward and has a chance to shoot. It is on target, but close to Porras.

79. 61'

Valencia was caught while shooting there, and play stops for him to receive treatment on his ankle.

80. 62'

Valencia receives the magic spray treatment on the touchline while play resumes.

81. 63'

Valencia returns as Kaviedes goes on a run, before turning into traffic and tumbling. No free kick.

82. 64'

Something of a hoof forward by Espinoza, but Ecuador aren't too worried at the moment.

83. 64'

Now Kaviedes goes down in a heap after a challenge by Centeno

84. 65'

The Costa Rican landed on his ankle and that looked deliberate. A sign of frustration, but he gets away with it.

85. 66'

Kaviedies is ok and he can continue.

86. 66'

A Mexican wave which, in a clash of two Latin American countries, is more relevant here than in many games.

87. 67'

A stop-start second half has another stoppage because Espinoza has cramp.

88. 68'

Ecuador are back to 11 as Espnioza returns only to find himself subsistuted. Guagua is the new man, and it looks a straight swap.

89. 69'

It feels as though Costa Rica, so spirited against Germany, have rather given up here

90. 69'

Swift ball forward from Hurtado to Delgado. He finds De La Cruz, who picks out Mendez. He drills in a low shot that Kaviedes turns in at the far post... only to be given offside. A shame - that was a terrific move.

91. 70'

Entertaining and farcical. Mora jumps all over Saboria as they try to meet Wanchope's eccentric cross. The keeper, rather luckily, wins a free kick.

92. 71'

As things stand, Ecuador will top the group. They'll meet Germany in a decider on Tuesday.

93. 72'

Now Hernandez, quiet so far, turns away from two to create himself space to shoot. He is just wide from 25 yards.

94. 73'

Ecuador prepare to make their final change. Urrutia will replace Valencia, who has impressed again on the right wing.

95. 74'

Delgado drops into midfield to win the ball and Ecuador are content to pass it sideways now.

96. 76'

Sloppy play from Costa Rica after Umana is fouled - they nearly lose the ball in their own third.

97. 77'

Hurtado strolls out of defence rather confidently before marring it by treading on the ball.

98. 77'

Gomez tries to turn Guagua, but the substitute stands his ground and defends well.

99. 78'

Centeno's cross is firmly struck and it is too hard for Marin to control his header.

100. 78'

Chance for Centeno on the volley from 25 yards, but his shot is well wide.

101. 78'

Delgado is signalling that he wants to come off, but Ecuador have made all three changes.

102. 79'

Edwin Tenorio and Urritia combine nicely and the latter finds Kaviedies on the burst. He digs out a shot and Porras parries it away well.

103. 80'

Disappointing at the lack of response from Costa Rica since that second goal from Delgado, which really killed the game.

104. 81'

No need for Ecuador to do anything silly here, and they enjoy a spell of passing.

105. 82'

Castillo finds Mendez who picks out Urrutia wide on the left, but he can't pick out either of his waiting team-mates in the box.

106. 83'

Delgado, who of course could not come off, is not moving too much in attack now. Perhaps he doesn't really need to.

107. 84'

Mendez curls in a really inviting cross and Kaviedies, from all of 18 yards, goes for the header. He can't keep it down.

108. 84'

Costa Rica's last change. Kurt Bernard comes on, Centeno departs.

109. 85'

Bernard chips forward to Wanchope, but he twists and turns and ends up fouling Hurtado.

110. 86'

Hernandez goes for the spectacular, whipping a shot off his toes, but it's too high

111. 87'

Urrutia, quite lively on the left wing, commits a foul.

112. 87'

So close! Saborio's shot curls beautifully away from the keeper and it rebounds back off the bar.

113. 88'

Umana heads wide and just when Costa Rica seemed to have given up, they came closer than they had all game.

114. 88'

The tricky Mendez gets away from Umana, but passes back to Castillo in the centre circle.

115. 89'

Wanchope meets a deep cross, turns and hits his shot against a defender's legs

116. 90'

Now De La Cruz goes on a solo run from deep, ended when he runs into a defender.

117. 91'

Wanchope miscues a volley straight to the keeper.

118. 92'

Ecuador have sealed it in style. Kaviedies volleys in at the far post

119. 92'

He took it really well from a Mendez cross after Delgado released the winger. A high-class goal against a demoralised Costa Rica side.

120. 94'

Bernard strikes a half-volley well but the diving Mora clings on,

121. 94'

Kaviedies goes down in the Costa Rica box, but that's not a penalty.

122. 94'

ECUADOR ARE THROUGH. The final whistle goes and they are in the last 16 for the first time. Carlos Tenorio, Delgado and Kaviedies got the goals.
