Burnley – Chelsea

1. Join us at 17.15GMT to see if Burnley can halt their awful run... against table topping Chelsea.

2. Chelsea and England captain John Terry has retained his place in the side against Burnley despite allegations about his private life.

3. Alex and Yury Zhirkov are back in the side with Deco and Ricardo Carvalho stepping down.

4. Burnley manager Brian Laws has given a debut to Leon Cort after his £1.5 million arrival from Stoke in midweek.

5. Burnley have a decent home record this season, but the visit of Chelsea will surely come as too much of a test. Even if JT isn't feeling himself.

6. If you're lucky enough to have a subscription to ESPN UK, you can watch this game live. Otherwise, stick around and I'll guide you through all the action.

7. Odds for this one are on Chelsea, of course, but we can probably expect a host of goals too. Sunderland know how dangerous the Blues can be.

8. Most of the pre-match talk has been on Mr John Terry. If you want to read up on what happened click here

9. The players are on the pitch, so we'll be getting going very soon. Burnley don't stand a chance do they? Football's a funny game though and suerly Brian Laws will be knighted if he pulls off a result here.

10. 1'

Looks like a nice cold night at Turf Moor. Burnley will kick-off.

11. 1'

Already a lax pass from Eagles there. Chelsea putting pressure on down the right.

12. 2'

Ball hasn't spent too much time on the floor as yet. Chelsea playing the long-ball game at the moment, but that will change once they settle.

13. 2'

Lampard heads back to Alex who hacks it up in the air. Chance for miscommunication between Terry and Cech, but Terry waves him to come and get it.

14. 3'

Fletcher miscontrols up front and Burnley lose it again. Chelsea break and Cort has to cut out Joe Cole's pass.

15. 3'

Good play from Malouda, but it results in a goal-kick as he turned down the chance to put the cross in.

16. 4'

Great clearance by Cort there as Anelka was rushing through. Very athletic and a vital stop.

17. 5'

Ballack playing the DM role and just taking his time to spray the ball around.

18. 5'

He's not a great tackler though, as is shown by that one. Foul to Burnley and a chance for the Clarets to exploit Chelsea.

19. 6'

They don't. The Blues are weak from free-kicks and corners and Burnley have to do better from dead balls.

20. 6'

Cort once again is there as Anelka finds himself down the right. Great break from Burnley, but Zhirkov broke it up.

21. 7'

Chelsea just knocking it around and attempting to control the ball for a bit. Eventually Lampard has a shot, but it flies way over the bar.

22. 8'

No-one was closing him down. Can't leave Frank there alone, or he will punish you.

23. 9'

Crowd chants: 'Same old Terry, always cheating.' Ouch.

24. 9'

Anelka misses his kick in the box - that was really poor. The Clarets look stretched every time Chelsea attack.

25. 10'

At the same time, they are offering very little up the other end.

26. 11'

Burnley getting back into it a bit more now. The pitch looks very chilly and the ball is skidding around a lot. A good test of control.

27. 12'

Blake attempts to lift the ball over the Chelsea defence, but it is all too easy for them right now.

28. 13'

Carlo Ancelotti is prowling the touchline. He doesn't look a very happy man at the moment.

29. 14'

Lampard tries to find Malouda in the box, but he is caught offside. Very close one that and I'm not sure he was in the end.

30. 14'

Terry hacks the ball clear and is roundly booed as he does. Chelsea have been quiet for the past five mins or so, not really threatening at all.

31. 15'

Eagles going down very easily as Lampard pushed him across the pitch. Thirty yards out or so, but the Clarets have only got one goal from a free-kick this season.

32. 16'

Blake hammers it right into the wall. That'll be why then.

33. 17'

Fletcher and Eagles combine well, but Burnley are struggling to just keep hold of the ball and they lose it again to Ashley Cole.

34. 18'

Chelsea are pressing very well and the Clarets haven't managed to mount any decent forays as yet.

35. 19'

Kalvenes now brings down Joe Cole. A chance for Chelsea?

36. 21'

Long ball now from Chelsea, but easily gathered by Jensen. Not a classic so far.

37. 22'

Without Drogba up front, Chelsea look as if they are missing something. They keep pumping the ball up there, but no-one is bringing it down and holding it up.

38. 23'

A bold prediction before the game thought there would be goals. They were 3-0 up at this stage against Sunderland.

39. 23'

Joe Cole has a good chance, turning inside and releasing a shot, but it hits Cort. Good defending, and he's there again to head clear from the rebound.

40. 24'

Now Burnley have an attack. Great header back across by Fletcher, but Ashley Cole is there to hack it clear.

41. 26'

GOAL! Cech bowls the ball out to Cole who runs down the right. Chipped cross to Malouda who squares it back for Anelka. All on his own. 1-0.

42. 26'

Great ball from Cech there, completely opened up the defence. Good work from Cole too, but the Burnley defence won't be happy. A goal inside 11 seconds from the ball leaving Cech's hand.

43. 27'

Jensen under pressure from Terry, comes and claims well.

44. 28'

A really long way back now for Burnley. They were holding their own until they were caught on the break.

45. 29'

Lampard swings a corner in, just too far for Joe Cole and now Burnley break. That sums it up though - as the ball is knocked out of play.

46. 30'

Terry runs into referee Phil Dowd. I wonder if we'll read the full story in the tabloids tomorrow...

47. 31'

Good advantage as Joe Cole fouls Bikey and the ball eventually come back to him to shoot. That has gone a long way over the bar.

48. 32'

Asley Cole was ghosting in at the back post there, from Zhirkov's cross. Just over his head. Not sure I've seen him score many headers in his time, but that was a decent chance.

49. 33'

Cech sells the dummy to Fletcher. Good footwork for a keeper.

50. 33'

Terry booked. Great flick from Fletcher to Blake running through and Terry runs into him. He wasn't getting past the England skipper there.

51. 34'

More 'cheating' chants from the Burnley faithful.

52. 34'

Clarets finding a bit more space now. McDonaldo tries to get the ball to Blake, but chips it over his head.

53. 35'

Not sure how Burnley are going to get back into this game. Cech hasn't been tested thus far.

54. 36'

Then again, Chelsea have only had one on target.

55. 37'

Bikey now into the book for a cynical foul.

56. 39'

Ouch. Lampard avoids a booking there for a crude tackle on Eagles.

57. 39'

Chelsea now pushing forward again and they have a corner.

58. 40'

Burnley clear, but Eagles pumps the ball out to no-one. No attacking outlet at all from the Clarets.

59. 41'

Ball chipped through and Anelka is rushing onto it. The Beast comes charging out of goal and heads away from the striker.

60. 42'

Terrible corner now from Burnley. Cech has an easy job to claim it out of the air.

61. 43'

The half is winding down now, and it hasn't been all that entertaining. Chelsea have struggled but have done well to get a goal up.

62. 43'

Burnley haven't offered anything up front and now force Alex, twice, into headed clearances. He's been impressive at the back.

63. 45'

    Half-time

64. 45'

Not very inspiring. But a lead at the least. All Chelsea need is a win and they look like getting it. Easy as you like so far. Burnley will have to do better.

65. 45'

    Second half kicks off.

66. 46'

Chelsea on the attack already as Malouda finds himself free. Hits a hard shot, but it rises just over the bar.

67. 46'

Ashley Cole surely not timewasting already? That seemed to take an age for him to throw it in.

68. 47'

Alex again is the man at the back for Chelsea. A few raised eyebrows why Carvalho was dropped, but on this evidence it was justified.

69. 48'

Eagles on a mazy dribble, but once again it is broken down and Chelsea attempted to break. A better bit of timing from Joe Cole and he would have been in.

70. 49'

GOAL! From out of nothing, Fletcher with a sublime bit of skill. It's 1-1.

71. 49'

Blake chips it in and Fletcher spins around Alex. The defender recovers, but his clearance falls at the feet of Fletcher again and he slots past Cech. Incredible stuff.

72. 49'

First time they have scored in the league since Dec 26. Wow.

73. 50'

That's their first attempt on goal and you have to feel for Alex, who has been a rock at the back thus far. Makes the game more interesting though.

74. 51'

Fletcher isolates himself against Alex again, but this time Terry is there to help out.

75. 53'

Bikey wastes a good chance to send either Eagles or Fletcher through. Dwelt on the ball for far too long.

76. 54'

Now there's a bit of urgency in the Chelsea ranks. Malouda teasing the defence and Lampard hangs one up for Jensen to come and claim.

77. 55'

Offside. The goal went in after some pinball in the box. Good work from Anelka and two shots coming in from Lampard and Ballack, eventually headed home by Joe Cole. But he was just offside.

78. 56'

Chelsea attacking well now. Ivanovic down the right and he cuts it back to Joe Cole who scuffs his shot wide.

79. 57'

Anelka looking very dangerous now and finds some space in behind. He crosses for Malouda who goes down like a sack of spuds. No penalty.

80. 58'

Burnley are back in numbers and they have done well to stop that Blues attack, forcing them all the way to cech. Good organisation.

81. 59'

Jensen comes out again to claim the cross. He does pretty well to hold on.

82. 60'

Malouda is now on the right and is unable to get the ball across.

83. 60'

Terry flicks on from a corner and nearly finds Alex running round on the backpost. Inches away from the Brazilian's foot.

84. 61'

Looking at the Chelsea bench, the only real options are Deco or Sturridge. Not great depth there at the moment.

85. 61'

Looking at the Chelsea bench, the only real options are Deco or Sturridge. Not great depth there at the moment.

86. 64'

Martin Paterson clatters into Nicolas Anelka and Frank Lampard takes the set piece, but his effort is saved by Brian Jensen.

87. 65'

Chelsea now pressurising. Corners aplenty and Anelka has a header that goes straight into the hands of Jensen in goal.

88. 67'

Eagles has a shot up the other end. Pretty comfortable there for Cech, who gathers down low.

89. 68'

Joe Cole almost feeds Anelka. That was very close, but great reach from Cort stops the ball dead.

90. 68'

Time running out for the Blues now. Terry is charging forward with intent.

91. 68'

Lampard fizzes the ball across the box, but there was no-one there to take advantage of the ball.

92. 69'

Sturridge looks like the option here. He's warming up and could offer something a little different.

93. 70'

Good interplay, but again it's a defender who is running through on it. Alex is the man this time.

94. 70'

Ashley Cole finding himself forward now and is just unable to send the ball through to Anelka.

95. 72'

Great tackle from Carlisle there, as Ashley Cole found himself on the way to goal. Just as he was about to shoot, it was nicked away and he went down.

96. 73'

Cole is still limping and is miles out of position. Good counter and Paterson finds so much space. Smashes it across, but Lampard is there to clear.

97. 74'

Carlisle breaks up the attack again. Impressive start to life as a partnership for him and Cort.

98. 75'

Malouda now tries to break them down, but when it comes to the shot, he just blasts it wide.

99. 76'

An injured Ashley Cole comes off, with Zhirkov to left-back and Deco enters the fray.

100. 77'

Deco provides some spark with a decent ball across to Ivanovic. But he can't gather it in.

101. 78'

The long ranging balls aren't finding their targets at the moment. Surprised Chelsea aren't playing a shorter passing game.

102. 79'

Some nice stats for you. Out of 89 meetings between these two clubs, guess who has more wins? It's not Chelsea.

103. 80'

Burnley now fancy the win and have sent a few players forward to try and snatch a goal. Careful now.

104. 80'

Don't forget that Manchester United and Arsenal have struggled at Turf Moor this season. So it's not a crazy idea..

105. 81'

Terry finds himself on the left wing, but the ball is sent over to Sturridge. Great footwork and a cracking turn, but his low cross is palmed away by Jensen.

106. 82'

GOAL! It had to be. John Terry heads Chelsea ahead. 2-1.

107. 82'

The corner was swung in and Terry was free by the penalty spot. He heads it down and into the net. Great header and the headlines write themselves.

108. 83'

Ouch, advertising board takes out Mears as he was chasing the ball down. Send it off! That was shocking.

109. 84'

Can Burnley bounce back again? One would think not, but you never know.

110. 84'

Paterson tries to spark something. But Mears loses out as he tries to get past Zhirkov.

111. 85'

Sturridge doing his best to track back but Deco fouls Eagles.

112. 86'

Ballack fails to clear and Eagles has a go from a long way out. Cech had it covered, but it spins past the post anyway.

113. 87'

Thompson and Ivanovic have an argument over whether the ball was out. Could that flare up in the final few mins?

114. 88'

Chelsea using their bodies well and just keepin Burnley at bay. he pace has slowed right down as the seconds tick away.

115. 89'

The chants are a bit different now. Coming from the Chelsea fans of course.

116. 90'

Great work from Anelka as he keeps it away from Jensen, but he runs wide and can't swing it back in.

117. 90'

Bikey named man of the match, which is odd. Cort and Carlisle have been better.

118. 91'

Paterson angry over a throw, but there's only three mins left and Chelsea are at the right end.

119. 92'

Anelka cuts inside and sets up Lampard. He blazes his shot over, but that would have been harsh on the home side.

120. 93'

And that's it. John Terry is the hero as his header sends Chelsea four points clear at the top of the table. Burnley stay in trouble and remain in the drop zone. It wasn't a classic, but three points was all Chelsea needed and they got them.
