2. Both clubs were agonisingly close to qualifying for the Champions League last season but while Newcastle have kept their squad intact, it's been all change at Spurs with a new manager and new faces.

    Worrying moment for Newcastle. Tim Krul takes a heavy touch and is almost robbed by Jermain Defoe. That's a big escape for the Dutchman.

105. Tottenham, though, will feel hard done-by. Their lack of a top striker was clear and Modric was missed, but there were encouraging signs there for Villas-Boas.
