Chelsea – Manchester United

1. Hello and welcome to the live commentary for a potentially crucial match in the title race as Chelsea host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

2. Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Carvalho, Terry, Ashley Cole, Essien, Lampard, Ballack, Deco, Drogba, Anelka. Subs: Hilario, Joe Cole, Mikel, Malouda, Ferreira, Kalou, Alex.

3. Manchester Utd: Van der Sar, O'Shea, Brown, Evans, Evra, Fletcher, Carrick, Anderson, Valencia, Rooney, Giggs. Subs: Kuszczak, Owen, Vidic, Scholes, Fabio, Obertan, Gibson.

4. Vidic is deemed only fit enough for the bench for the visitors, while Berbatov misses out entirely after picking up a knock midweek.

5. Ashley Cole and Carvalho come in for Chelsea in defence with Ivanovic at right-back, while Deco and Ballack start in midfield alongside Lampard and Essien.

6. There looks to be little width in the sides, with Valencia the only outright wide man on the pitch. Evra and Ashley Cole will at least offer support on the flanks from defence.

7. The teams are heading out onto the pitch.

8. The teams shake hands in the middle and Ferguson and Ancelotti look to be in good spirits as they share a conversation ahead of the game.

9. The teams and supporters observe a minute's silence for Remembrance Sunday.

10. The crowd roars after an impeccably observed silence.

11. 1'

Rooney and Anderson get the match underway!

12. 1'

United have the first attack but, as the ball comes to Carrick on the edge of the area, he lobs it out wide and it goes for a throw-in.

13. 2'

Valencia chases the ball down the right flank but Ashley Cole gets there first with a crunching tackle.

14. 2'

A Chelsea fan holds onto the ball in the crowd and play is held up while O'Shea waits for the stewarts to grapple for the ball back.

15. 3'

Wes Brown does well to cut out Deco's through-ball for Anelka.

16. 4'

Ivanovic races down the right and plays a one-two with Drogba before attempted to cut the ball back. When the attempt is blocked, he gets it back and fires in a shot, but Van der Sar saves.

17. 6'

The referee gives a free-kick in Ivanovic's favour as Evra looks to progress down the left and appears to have won a corner.

18. 7'

Fletcher attempts an ambitious through-ball for Rooney, but it's easily dealt with.

19. 8'

Anderson plays a superb ball behind the defence for Rooney and Ashley Cole appeared to play him onside as he was clean through, but it's given offside.

20. 9'

Giggs appears to win a battle with Ivanovic in the corner but, even though the ball looked out of play, Essien is allowed to move forwards with the ball.

21. 11'

Evra bursts into life down the left and Rooney turns to shoot. He gets a corner, although his shot appeared to have just been wayward.

22. 12'

Giggs' corner is poor and Fletcher can only head high and wide as he strains to reach it.

23. 12'

Chelsea win a free-kick in their own half to relieve a bit of pressure as Evans applies too much force in a challenge.

24. 13'

Terry moves up the field and puts in a ball from the left, but it's easily cleared and Ashley Cole has a throw-in by the halfway line.

25. 14'

Terry is very clumsy in pulling down Valencia in the box and, anywhere else on the pitch, that would be a foul. Terry is fortunate there.

26. 15'

Cech clears a packpass under pressure. Chelsea have looked a little shaky in the early moments.

27. 15'

O'Shea gets an important header in as the ball comes into the box from the right. Better from the hosts.

Ballack sends a deep cross into the area for Drogba, but he fails to get anywhere near the target under pressure. Great ball from the German.

30. 20'

Valencia picks up the ball from around 40 yards and curls a shot over the bar. He had O'Shea in acres of space down the right and could have set up a dangerous attack.

31. 21'

Deco looks to set up an attack with a backheel into the United area, but it's played back for Van der Sar with minimal fuss.

32. 22'

Anelka's through-ball is cut out by Evans and Rooney breaks away on the counter, but he's crowded out in the Chelsea box.

33. 23'

O'Shea fouls Anelka for a free-kick in a dangerous position outside the area. Terry and Carvalho come up as Lampard prepares to whip it in.

34. 24'

Woeful from Lampard as he clears everyone and Van der Sar sees it wide.

35. 25'

Essien nearly sparks a chance as he bursts through the centre and feeds Drogba, but he can't quite take control of the ball and ref Martin Atkinson gives a foul.

36. 26'

Giggs swings a cross into the box, but United aren't committing men forwards and Terry heads away.

37. 27'

Brown concedes a free-kick as he pushes Drogba over.

38. 28'

Lampard fires it straight into the wall. Poor effort.

39. 28'

Anelka makes some room and fires a shot in on goal, forcing Van der Sar into a (relatively comfortable) low save.

40. 29'

Giggs attempts a spectacular flick over Cech with the outside of his boot, but gets it wrong and it's over the bar. Good idea, poor execution.

43. 31'

Carrick attempts a drive from distance, but Cech gathers easily.

44. 32'

Anelka curls towards the far corner from out on the right. Van der Sar does well as few would have expected the shot to come in.

45. 34'

Chelsea are on top at the moment, but both sides need to do more to create real chances.

46. 35'

Anelka does brilliantly to win possession and then retain it under heavy pressure, but Deco fails to read his pass.

47. 35'

Rooney plays in Giggs after a good run, but Giggs makes a mess of it, overhitting a pass out right for Anderson from a great position.

48. 36'

Rooney comes into the area from out on the left but takes the shot on when he had other options. Another potential chance wasted.

49. 37'

Carrick tries another long-distance shot but this time can't hit the target.

50. 37'

52. 39'

Terry collides with Ashley Cole and goes down in pain.

53. 41'

It's a drop ball and Deco sends it to Van der Sar.

54. 42'

Chelsea break away on a counter-attack and look set to finally break the deadlock. The ball comes to Drogba at the end of the move but he just can't get the ball under control under pressure.

55. 43'

Carrick attempts another drive from distance and again it's off-target.

56. 44'

Valencia looks to race away down the right and Lampard is fortunate to escape punishment as he wins possession back.

57. 45'

Drogba fires well over the bar as he holds off Evra and finds some space from a tight angle.

58. 46'

It's half-time. The game has yet to really come to life, but it's been played at a good pace and could take off in the second half.

59. 46'
