The FA Cup semi-finals are upon us and up first is a mouthwatering Merseyside derby, as Everton and Liverpool go head-to-head at Wembley.

The big team news for Liverpool is the surprise omission of Jose Enrique, with Jamie Carragher coming in. Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez are paired up front.

For Everton, Cahill and Fellaini are paired in midfield, while Jelavic and Gueye form the front two.

The setting is perfect at Wembley, with the sun shining and both sets of fans in fantastic voice.

The two captains Phil Neville and Steven Gerrard present flowers to the families of people who lost their lives during the Hillsborough disaster.

<b>KICK OFF</b> Everton get us started.

Luis Suarez is immediately in behind for Liverpool after Steven Gerrard's through ball. The Uruguayan is miles offside, though.

First chance falls to Liverpool. Glen Johnson surges forward before sliding in Andy Carroll, who cuts the ball back for Jay Spearing. The midfielder hits his side-footed effort high over the bar from just inside the box.

A bright start from Liverpool, who have dominated possession in the early exchanges.

A dangerous free-kick for Everton on the edge of the area, Daniel Agger cynically blocking Jelavic.

A decent attempt from Leighton Baines, but his shot drops onto the top of Brad Jones' net.

Jelavic looking lively, getting to the byline before his cross is blocked.

A first dribble for Stewart Downing, who works his way to the edge of the area before making a mess of his right-foot shot.

The game is yet to settle down, a lot of misplaced passes and a long of hopeful punts up field.

Everton with a throw in an attacking position. The Toffees need to keep the ball further up the pitch.

But they fail, Phil Neville's throw dribbling out for a Liverpool goal kick.

A Liverpool free kick right on the edge of the area, Suarez too slippery for Distin.

Agger's attempt is blocked, but Gerrard clips the ball back into the danger area. Carroll does well to control and tee up Martin Skrtel, but his half volley is straight at Tim Howard.

First Everton corner after Leon Osman made a clever run towards the byline. That has lifted the blue half of Wembley.

The chances passes though as Distin is penalised for climbing.

Liverpool's turn for a corner, Baines guiding Gerrard's pass behind.

The corner is cleared and Everton break quickly with Leon Osman. Jelavic hurtles through the middle begging for a through ball, only to see Osman's pass easily intercepted. A chance wasted for David Moyes' men.

A typically mazy run from Phil Neville gives Everton another opening. His low cross bounces up for Jelavic, but his scruffy attempt at an overhead kick is easily gathered by Jones.

Everton have really come into the contest in the last 10 minutes, but still neither team has created a clear-cut opportunity.

Suarez, who has been subdued so far, is caught offside. Liverpool need to get him involved.

A question of offside lingers over the Everton goal. It looked as if Jelavic may have been offside when the ball bounced off Tim Cahill.

Liverpool's first attempt at a response, a useful cross from Downing evades both Carroll and Suarez in the box.

Liverpool have reacted well to going behind, Suarez breaking free and playing a through ball which is inches from finding Gerrard in the penalty area.

Replays show that Jelavic was inches offside for the goal, but it would have been nearly impossible for the assistant referee to spot.

Elsewhere, Manchester City are doing their level best to keep the title race alive. Carlos Tevez has given Roberto Mancini's team a 1-0 lead away at Norwich City.

Jelavic through again, this time the linesman's flag is correctly raised.

Stewart Downing, a £20 million winger, has just forgotten the ball while attempting to dribble. Oh dear...

Liverpool have been on top since going behind, but still haven't really troubled Howard's goal. Glen Johnson gets forward before over-hitting his right-wing cross.

Corner to Liverpool...

The corner is taken short before eventually being worked back to Downing. His whipped cross reaches Carroll, who directs a looping header over the bar.

A free-kick to Everton on the edge of the Liverpool box, Skrtel bundling over Jelavic.

It's Jelavic who curls a shot over the wall and wide of Brad Jones' right-hand post.

Suarez and Heitinga are developing a real dislike for each other. The former has just rugby tackled the Dutch defender. Expect bookings, and maybe more, for those two in the second half.

Jelavic's contribution to Everton's FA Cup run has already justified his £5.5 million price tag. After his goal in the quarter-final win over Sunderland, he could have put Everton into the FA Cup final.

Liverpool need to improve in the second half. Andy Carroll should be withdrawn and replaced with Craig Bellamy. Dalglish should also consider replacing the pedestrian Carragher with Jose Enrique.

A truly terrible miss from Andy Carroll! A delightful cross from Downing reaches Carroll and all he had to do was head the ball into the empty net. Somehow, the £35 million man guides his effort wide to the shock of everyone inside Wembley.

Dalglish could barely hide his disgust at that Carroll miss. Surely he must be contemplating changes?

Gueye's corner is cleared at the nearpost and Suarez charges forward. The striker has Henderson and Downing in support, but insists on going it alone. He is eventually tackled by Phil Neville.

Rodriguez should have sealed it for Liverpool! Great play from Suarez, getting to the byline and pulling back for Rodriguez who hits the post from six-yards out.

Suarez into the penalty area again, twisting to evade Distin and striking a low shot across goal which is saved by Howard.

More excellent work from Suarez, earning a corner off Heitinga.

Bellamy and Suarez both working hard to keep Everton in their own half. A comeback looks beyond David Moyes' team.

<b>FULL TIME</b> Andy Carroll's late header has won it for Liverpool, who come from behind to beat Everton 2-1.

After a glaring miss, Carroll ends as the hero. For Everton, defensive errors and a second-half slump proved their downfall.

Meanwhile, Carlos Tevez has sealed his hat-trick as Man City go 5-1 up at Norwich.

So Liverpool will be back at Wembley in three weeks to face either Chelsea or Tottenham, who face off tomorrow.
