Teams for today are: Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Alex, Terry, Ashley Cole, Essien, Mikel, Lampard, Anelka, Drogba, Malouda. Subs: Hilario, Ivanovic, Di Santo, Ballack, Kalou, Belletti, Mancienne.

and Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Yobo, Lescott, Baines, Osman, Neville, Pienaar, Cahill, Fellaini, Saha. Subs: Nash, Castillo, Vaughan, Jacobsen, Rodwell, Gosling, Baxter.

So the big surprise in the Chelsea team is the inclusion of Mikel ahead of Ballack. Wonder if Hiddink was in charge next season whether he'd have been prepared to incur the sulking that would most likely ensue.

Meanwhile Everton have gone with Louis Saha up front, who, remarkably, has survived the National Anthem without spraining his tongue.

I have to say that I'd be amazed were Everton to win this one. Chelsea are rested, conident and superior. That isn't to disrespct what Everton have achieved, but Chelsea will have to play badly to lose.

Everton to kick off.

GOAL! Everton 1 - Chelsea 0

Pienaar's cross is headed away unconvincingly by Mikel, the ball drops to Saha and he forces it in from 12 yards, low to Cech's right. 25 seconds; wow. I've never looked a moron that quickly before.

Drogba's backheel on halfway is easily intercepted.

Wonder if this'll change Everton's approach. Must be tempting for them to sit back and bring Fellaini into midfield.

Nervous backpass from Bosingwa only just reaches Cech.

Chelsea's first attack comes to nothing.

Malouda receives the ball wide on the left and his low cross is put behind by Hibbert for a corner.

The corner is no good.

Pienaar hoofs the ball clear and Chelsea build. Everton are not really looking to harry their defenders.

Bosingwa frees himself down the right and Lescott boots his cross into touch.

Lampard floats a long ball out to Malouda, and Hibert is booked for clipping his ankle.

Lampard's free kick is miles over the bar. He decides that this does not warrant a point to the sky.

But Tim Howard did point to the sky when Everton scored as I've just seen on the replay. Perhaps he knew Pat Lampard.

Malouda is looking dangerous. He cuts inside and finds Anelka, but Bosingwa is tackled after receiving the subsequent pass.

Although they've not done much, it's been pretty much all Chelsea since the goal.

Another thing about this new stadium is that the cameras are nonsense. Not in line and miles away from the action. Still, at least the corporates have good seats.

Good tackle on Cole but the flag is up for offside.

Fellaini must be exceedingly hot under all that hair, unless he's using it to secrete an ice bucket.

Fellaini fouls Mikel and Chelsea have a free kick.

Half chance for Chelsea. Drogba muscles past Hibbert - who'll do well to stay on today - clips it back to the edge, and Essien's shot is wide.

Great ball from Pienaar over the top and Fellaini is close to getting on the end of it.

Everton are going to defend deep it would seem - they have been holding their line around the edge of the penalty area so far.

Cole's attempted pass to Malouda is too long and rolls out of play.

Anelka is playing very wide on the right.

Terry hits a long diagonal ball miles from anyone.

Everton have been very comfortable so far.

Malouda's ball in is well turned away by Lescott.

GOAL! Everton 1 - 1 Chelsea

Lampard sends the ball wide to Malouda, he sends in another excellent cross, and Drogba, getting across Lecscott, hammers a header into the corner to Howard's left.

Terry hoofs Hibbert's cross away.

Lampard's effort from 30 yards is only just over -although it was dead centre - and one would have expected Howard to save it had it been on target.

Neither side has shown much zip to its passing so far. The constant pimping of the pitch to anyone who'll help pay the outrageously incurred mortgage on the stadium presumably does not help, ensuring the turf is cut up by rugby and American Football matches whenever possible.

Essien is lucky to avoid a booking for a wild tackle on Fellaini.

Chelsea almost work a shooting chance for Lampard, but his touch is not quite sure enough.

It would be remiss of me not to mention the scandal of the Cup Final ticket allocation. 40,000 are given to the "football family", the FA deeming that the secretary of the Cornwall Football Association, for example, merits a ticket ahead of a season ticket holder at one of the competing clubs. As you can imagine, this does wonders for the atmosphere.

Everton are finding it hard to get any decent possession.

Malouda is well found by Anelka, and his eventual shot is blocked. Chelsea are getting a lot of joy down their left.

Hibbert is drawn out of position, Malouda receives Essien's header, and Chelsea manage to win a corner.

Lampard's corner, directed at Alex, is too deep and Everton break. Cahill almost reaches Saha's ball.

If Everton could get Saha running at the lumbering Terry, that might be an outlet for them.

Apparently it's 108 degrees at pitch level. Perhaps the teams should wear aluminium kits to reflect the heat.

Chelsea are knocking the ball around pretty easily here - Everton seem comfortable to let them have it in while they retreat and try to defend their penalty area.

Cech is out smartly to dive at Saha's feet.

Lampard chases Drogba's flick, but can't get there.

David Moyes will be looking forward to half time - if he doesn't change something, Chelsea will score.

Osman finds Hibbert, who is robbed by a combination of Malouda and Cole, but they can't capitalise on the opportunity to break.

Chelsea have completed 241 passes to Everton's 92.

Drogba is writhing in imagined pain after an innocuous tackle. He then rises, grimacing.

Ashley Cole breaks away from Hibbert after Fellaini deflects the ball the wrong way, but can only lash his shot wide. Non-Chelsea fans will have enjoyed that.

Cole up-ends Osman. Chance for Everton to put a ball into the box - the free kick is about 50 yards out, and rightish.

Cech fumbles the useless cross behind.

Short corner, then a cross whipped in by Baines, but Saha can only glance it sideways.

HALF TIME: EVERTON 1 - CHELSEA 1

Think I've done Saha a bit of a disservice - seeing the goal again, it really was a very good finish. Since then, Everton have offered little, and it as no surprise when Chelsea equalised, even though they hadn't creeated many chances. If Everton don't change something, they'll find at least one more from somewhere.

In fact I get the feeling that to win without needing penalties, Everton will have to score twice more, because it seems unlikely that Chelsea won't find at least one more from somewhere.

Television has just showed that Pienaar was offside in the build-up to the goal. Anyway, to describe it a little more fully, Fellaini won a header in the box which went back to Saha, who adjusted his body very well to get behind and over the ball so that he could swivel and rifle a finish low past Howard.

Hibbert - who is rubbish anyway, had been booked, and was also struggling against Malouda - has been replaced by Lars Jacobsen.

Chelsea - or Chewlsye as their supporters call them - kick off.

Cahill and Mikel clash and Chelsea are awarded the free kick.

Neville already on the floor from a previous tackle, clatters the odious Mikel, and is booked by Howard Webb. His middle name is Melton, incidentally.

Lescott heads Lampard's free kick clear.

Lampard finds Cole, but Osman blocks his cross. Corner.

Malouda finds room for a volley after it's only half cleared, but it's well over the top.

Dorgba charges down Lescott's careless clearance, but can't do anything with the ball.

Alex tackles Cahill and Everton have a throw deep inside the Chelsea half.

Neville sends over a good cross, but there's no purchase on the header. The ball drops to Pienaar but his ball outside to Baines is useless, as the full back isn't overlapping. Chelsea break quickly and win a corner, which comes to nothing.

Anelka plays a one-two with Drogba, but can't do anything with the return ball.

Everton have very little to aim at when they do manage to get possession.

Terry heads Osman's up-and-under away.

Ballack is warming up for Chelsea.

Very little has happened in the second half so far.

Saha blazes a shot miles away after a knock-back from Cahill.

Pienaar finds some space wide on the right to receive Yobo's pass, but he's offside.

Oooh. Great effort from Anelka. Clever ball over the top from Lampard, Anelka easily outpaced Yobo and lobbed over Howard, but the ball dropped just over the top.

Cahill and Mikel have another little tumble as Mikel tries to shepherd the ball out, and Everton are unlucky that the free kick goes against them. Ballack replaces Essien. Odd, would have expected Mikel to make way. Unnecessarily cautious from Hiddink.

Terry is beated in the air by Cahill and he lashes the loose ball at goal from 25 yards, but Cech saves. Cahill may be hurt.

Everton have improved in the last 5 minutes.

Mikel is booked harshly. Webb has not been consistent in how he's handed out the cards today. Still, he's done well not to get in the way of the play, which is his speciality.

Fellaini gives the ball away to Anelka, and Baines does well to tackle him as he pushes the ball into the space behind him and tries to go by on the outside.

Ballack fouls Pienaar.

Chance for Everton. The free kick is played short down the line to Baines and Saha really should have headed his cross past Cech, but he sends it over.

It's a while since Chelsea mustered an effort on goal.

Malouda skins Osman and wallops a great low cross across which is missed by Fellaini, but it hits Drogba and goes behind.

Lampard - who isn't having a great game - is brought down.

Free kick comes to nowt.

GOAL! EVERTON 1 - CHELSEA 2

Lampard took Anelka's ball in centrefield, turned back inside onto his left foot, and hit a shot across Howard from 25 yards that the keeper should have saved. The obligatory pointing to the sky followed. I'm thinking about doing the same every time I'm happy with my match commentary.

I've said it before and doubtless I'll say it again, but once a dodgy keeper always a dodgy keeper.

Pienaar is robbed by Anelka whose crossfield ball is brilliantly kept in by Cole. He works it back to Lampard, who plays in Malouda and one-on-one with Howard, he whacks it over the bar when he should have finished the game.

James Vaughan replaces Saha.

Fellaini is penalised for fouling Mikel.

Chelsea are back on it now. The ball is worked to Malouda in centrefield and he takes a step forward and crashes a shot off the underside of the bar. On first look I thought it might have bounced down over the line.

Yep I was right he said smugly. It was easily over the line, and Malouda has been denied a brilliant goal.

What ridiculous zig-zags Malouda has somehow insinuated into his hair.

Chelsea fans sing that they want Hiddink to stay. Who do they think Abramovich is more keen to appease, them or Russian president Medvedev.

Cech flaps at a cross - as is his wont these days - but Everton can't capitalise and the ball is belted to safety.

Dan Gosling replaces Leon Osman. Osman has had a poor game.

Malouda into Drogba who sweeps it wide to Cole, but his cross is cleared.

Lampard goes down in the area and is booked for diving. It appears that this was not dedicated to the memory of his dear mother.

Pienaar tackles Bosingwa who claims to be injured, before getting up. Pienaar cannot profit from the chance to create a shooting chance.

Everton will be rueing Saha's miss just before they went behind. Ashley Cole has been named man of the match, although I'd have gone for Malouda myself

Lampard finds Malouda on the left of the Everton box, but his shot is blocked. Everton need a set-play or something, because they haven't looked like creating a chance since the goal.

Cahill shoots from distance and it's not terrible, but wide enough for Cech not to bother diving. 4 minutes injury time.

Pienaar accelerates through midfield but his attempted through pass is intercepted. Everton have hardly got the ball in the box since Lampard scored.

Great ball over the top from Lampard, and Anelka beats Lescott to it, but the defender does enough to make him send the ball over the bar.

Mikel takes out Cahill but the referee either doesn't see or deems it not to be a foul.

Everton know the game is up. Baines fouls Bosingwa and Chelsea have a free kick on the edge of the Everton area, down the right-hand side.

Drogba takes the ball to the corner.

Chelsea win a corner, and will keep the ball there if they can.

FULL TIME: EVERTON 1 - 2 CHELSEA

Well Chelsea deserved to win, but Saha could have made things very different. Ultimately, they had a little too much class for Everton, who will be disappointed that they showed less edge than a circle.
