Blackburn Rovers – Everton

1. Join us for live coverage of Wednesday night's Premier League meeting between Blackburn Rovers and Everton. But don't worry, if that doesn't fill your heart with joy we'll also keep you up-to-date on the other six games on what could be a fascinating night.

2. Good evening one and all and welcome to a big night of Premier League action with me Chris Murphy. It somehow feels that little bit more special on a week night don't you think? No? Must just be me then.

3. Our main focus this evening will be the game between relegation-haunted Blackburn and Europe-chasing but injury-riddled Everton from Ewood Park. Providing on the quality of fare offered I'll either keep you massively informed on the other games, or briefly informed, but whatever happens, you won't miss a thing.

4. The teams, without further ado, starting with Blackburn: Brown, Ooijer, Samba, Nelsen, Givet, Andrews,Grella, Warnock, Roque Santa Cruz, Roberts and Diouf. Subs from: Bunn, Kerimoglu, Dunn, McCarthy, Mokoena, Simpson and Treacy.

5. Everton: Howard, Jagielka, Yobo, Lescott, Baines, Osman, Neville, Rodwell, Pienaar, Cahill and Jo. Subs from: Nash, Van der Meyde, Castillo, Saha, Jacobsen, Fellaini and Gosling.

6. I shall break off from nailing my leftover spaghetti bolognese to tell you this; a win would take Everton within two points of Arsenal in fifth, while three points for Blackburn could lift them into 14th, if other results go for them.

7. Well I never, we're off and running and in the most unlikely place because would you Adam and Eve it, Peter Lovenkrands has turned the ball home after an Edwin Van der Sar mistake. Bang goes his record! Newcastle 1-0 Man Utd!

8. Oh and another! James Beattie has scored AGAIN! Stoke 1-0 Bolton.

   Right, we're off at Ewood Park...

    Oh hello! Jo's nearly scored for Everton! He volleys just wide from the edge of the area!

    Free kick for Blackburn which Diouf takes .. but its poor and Neville hacks clear.

    Rooney strikes to level things up for Man United and the Champions are level at St James Park.

13. 5'

    At Ewood Park Stephen Warnock fired a shot goalwards but Jagielka gets in the way and Everton clear.

14. 6'

    Amusingly, the stewards patrolling the away end have had to move further away from the pitch as their illuminous yellow flak jackets are confusing Everton's players who are sporting similarly coloured shirts!

    Goal at Spurs! Robbie Keane puts the home side one up against Boro.

16. 8'

    Elano has slotted a penalty to give Man City the lead against Aston Villa.

17. 9'

    Lots of action already in the Premier League, apart from at Ewood Park! Come on lads, catch up...

    Oh, Fulham and Hull is also 0-0 too.

    Half a chance for Diouf as he took down Ooijer's cross but Lescott was alert and whacked clear.

20. 12'

    Spurs are two to the good at The Lane! Keane finds Modric and he squares for Pavlyuchenko to tap in.

21. 13'

    Everton and Blackburn sharing spells of possession here, but there was Keith Andrews lining up a shot but Lescott blocked.

22. 14'

    Newcastle are having a right go at Man United at St James! How long it will last I don't know but Martins should have scored two already! Van der Sar looking wobbly all of a sudden.

    Osman looks for Cahill but the Aussie frontman had strayed offside.

    Long throw from the right coming in ... but Everton clear.

    Goal at the JJB and West Ham have scored a belter. A long passing move culminating in a Carlton Cole finish.

    There really is very little happening in our featured game I'm afraid. I wish there was. But there ain't. Oh, hang on, free kick to Everton on the left wing.

    Carlton Cole goes from hero to zero by getting his second yellow card at Wigan!

    Blackburn clear Osman's free kick. It would normally have been Arteta swinging those in of course - how they'll miss him.

    A sign of the game so far as Jagielka flashes in a cross and Jack Rodwell tries an ambitious volley. Needless to say, it didn't end well.

    Half decent move from Blackburn, spreading the play, and Ooijer lofts in a ball in search of Santa Cruz but Yobo wins the header.

    The crowd howl as Lescott tangles with Roberts but our referee - he of the phantom goal, Stuart Atwell - waves away the appeals.

    My colleague Phil Holland has just unravelled a steak slice as a pastie chaser to his cottage pie main. Now I want one.

    An ironic cheer rises up into the night sky at Ewood Park as Atwell finally gives Blackburn a decision. Wahey!

    There's a full blown blizzard at Stoke. Will it make its way north to Blackburn and liven the game up I wonder?

    A bit of argy bargy at St James as Steven Taylor aims a little forearm jab at Ronaldo and gets a yellow. Looks like Rio tried to front Taylor up about it at half time.

    Warnock slips in the muddy conditions and bangs into Tim Howard who spills the ball but the referee takes no action and lets the game go on.

    Cahill feeds Baines who crosses for Jo but he can't control a fizzing ball, then gives away a foul for piling into Samba.

    Looks like Lescott and Diouf is going to be a running battle this evening. The defender marshalls the loose ball out of play this time and goes 1-0 up in their personal duel.

    More half chances involving Jo who can't get the better of Nelsen initially to go clear on goal, then fails to get his head to a Rodwell cross.

    Spurs are rampant! They go 3-0 up against Boro! Aaron Lennon.

    Action at Ewood Park! Pienaar gets on the end of a cross from Rodwell and smashes a shot goalwards but Jason Brown saves superbly!

    Come on game, give us a goal before half time..

    Everton are looking dangerous here. Pienaar and Baines interchange nicely but neither can get a shot off so the latter crosses and wins a corner.

    Nelsen gets his meaty bonce to the corner and clears Blackburn's lines.

    Pienaar is involved again as the ball drops to him 20 yards out - he hits one and it strikes Ooijer on the arm but nothing given as far as Atwell is concerned. Interesting.

    It was more a case of ball to hand but still, it got in the way of a goalbound shot inside the area so no arguments to be had if it was given. Pienaar actually should have slid Jo in instead.

    Speaking of Jo, he does well to fashion a chance for himself but shoots weakly after he'd cut inside Ooijer.

    Cracking ball into the area from Grella and Roberts looks top latch onto it but Lescott wins a crucial header. That's half time.

    Another red card at Wigan and this time its no surprise; Lee Cattermole has been given a straight red after an awful sounding challenge. He's already put Digard from Boro out for the season, Habib Beye from Newcastle out for four months and Joey Barton out for three. Tells its own story.

    An awful mistake by Ryan Taylor has gifted Berbatov and Man Utd a goal at St James. He tried to chest the ball back to Harper, left it short and Park touched it across goal for Berba to tap in. 2-1.

    No changes to tell you about at Ewood. No action to mention so far either...

    Diouf swings in a decent looking free kick but Jagielka is up to nod away.

    It really is a turgid game this. As with a lot of encounters, it was just hotting up as the half time whistle went.

    Chance for Blackburn! A Roberts cross gets a deflection and finds Andrews, his touch falls for Santa Cruz, who was coming onto it at speed, but he flashed an instantaneous left foot shot wide of the post.

    This time a Pienaar cross ricochets up for Cahill to head goalwards, but his effort is right at Brown.

    Diouf piles into Tim Howard as he came to claim a long ball and concedes a free kick. He doesn't argue too much though, which is unusual for him.

    Now Cahill is down after Samba clattered into the back of him. He's holding his bum in fact. Heavy landing maybe.

    For some unfathomable reason the free kick was given AGAINST Cahill! And for some inexplicable reason, I've been calling ref Alan Wiley, ref Stuart Atwell all night. Soz.

    Cahill hobbles off, but he'll be hobbling back on in a minute..

    We're a bit light on goals in this second half of the evening. No doubt they'll start flooding in imminently. Except at Ewood Park.

    And there we go! Stoke go 2-0 up on Bolton. A potentially massive three points approaching! Ricardo Fuller bags it!

    Diouf spins one in for Santa Cruz to meet on the penalty spot, but it was always going to be a big ask to score from there with his heeed.

    David Moyes is going nuts as Osman and Givet clash. The Everton boss thought there was a stray arm in there, but the replay proves otherwise.

    It looks like Givet has come off worse in that bang. He certainly looks confused. "Have I really signed for Blackburn?," he asks the physio. "Noooooo!"

    Givet goes down the tunnel and Aaron Mokoena is on in his place.

    As Givet hobbled off, Mokoena came on but the ref didn't allow Osman to return, as he had gone off for treatment after his involvement in the clash of heads. Crazy.

    Blackburn win a fortuitous corner but Everton clear to spare Alan Wiley's blushes. Now they have a lucky free kick and Moyes can't believe it. Right side touchline...

    My word, Warnock hits the bar! He looped in the free kick and Howard misread it and watched as it hit the bar.

    The the chance of the game! Roberts is clean through but under pressure from Lescott. Roberts insists on keeping the ball on his right side and, as such, can only poke it at goal and Howard saves with his leg. What a chance.

    What a waste. Santa Cruz works it out to the former MK Dons skipper and instead of hitting it first time he tries to dink in a cross and the chance is lost.

    Louis Saha is on for Jack Rodwell.

    Action at Blackburn's end! Saha stabs a little ball into Pienaar as he rushed into the box but Warnock just got enough on the ball to prevent giving away a penalty.

    Manchester United on top at Newcastle but no third goal yet. Martins is looking lively for the Toon though.

    Goal at Man City! Shaun Wright-Phillips gets the goal his game deserved and City lead Villa 2-0!

    A decent Diouf cross is met by Roberts but his header is well wide.

    Tim Cahill fizzes in a cracker of an effort at Ewood Park but it was right at Brown.

    Full time at St James' Park and Man United win it 2-1, thanks to Ryan Taylor's almighty blunder.

    Jason Brown looks at the Blackburn bench and points to his groin. Either he's showing off or he's injured.

    Great challenge from Warnock as he nicked the ball of Pienaar. His ball for Santa Cruz is poor though.

    Are we going to get that one piece of magic to break the deadlock in the next four minutes?

    Roberts and Yobo tangle as the striker looked to latch onto a Santa Cruz touch. The defender hoiks clear.

    Diouf off and Keith Treacy on for Rovers.

    Samba's flick on goes unloved. The announcement that the McArthwright's Gravel Collectors man of the match is Ryan Nelsen is greeted with a tiny murmur from the home fans.

    Everton win a corner, Cahill gets up and the ball drops for Lescott to volley but though he connected really well, it was just too high.

    Fellaini penalised for letting his hair get in Nelsen's face.

    Still 0-0 at Craven Cottage between Fulham and Hull by the way. A good point for Tigers if they can hold on.

    Corner for Blackburn after Yobo's errant touch but Samba was hugging Yobo and gives away a foul.

    Hull have scored! What a goal that could be! Manucho gives them the lead!

    Well, that's that at Ewood Park and 0-0 was probably a fair reflection of a game seriously lacking quality. Both sides will be cheesed off with a point, but can have no complaints.
