Wayne Routledge on for Ben Arfa

17. 7'

It looks like Ben Arfa will be out for a long time after that one, such a shame for a promising player.

Nigel de Jong once again in the thick of a bad challenge controversy, he must love negative headlines.

19. 10'

Neat play from Manchester City as the actual football begins, James Milner sending a cross towards Tevez but it's just too long.

20. 11'

City are enjoying a lot of possession and trying to apply pressure on Newcastle, who are breaking quickly when given the chance.

21. 12'

City have a corner after a tackle from Nolan, that looked like a goal kick. The corner is taken short, Milner's near post cross deflects off Nolan for another corner.

22. 13'

Again Newcastle allow City to take the corner short, Milner again putting it across but his delivery is cleared.

23. 14'

Newcastle with a throw deep in the City half, it's wasted a they work the ball backwards.

Williamson is booked for the tackle which brought down Tevez, I have to say, it looked like he got the ball.

28. 19'

What a nightmare start for Newcastle. They've already lost Ben Arfa to what looks like a broken leg and now they're behind. Can they respond?

29. 20'

City are in again, with Newcastle playing a ridiculously high defensive line. Milner gets past Perch, his low cross is poor and miles away from Tevez.

30. 21'

A fiesty start as Coloccini hacks down Tevez, then at the other end takes a touch with his knee and fires a dipping volley at goal. He is only denied by a wonderful save from Joe Hart!

31. 23'

GOAL Gutierrez levels for Newcastle! Man City fail to deal with a cross as Kompany makes a complete mess of his clearance. Gutierrez picks it up, takes a touch before lashing it home from eight yards. We're all square!

32. 24'

Coloccini was booked for his bad challenge on Tevez.

36. 28'

We've got a great match on our hands now, it's been incident packed and there's not even half an hour gone.

37. 30'

James Perch gets to the byline and his cross is blocked by Silva. This game could go either way as Yaya Toure commits a foul.

38. 31'

Joey Barton looks fired up this afternoon as he flies into another challenge. It's hard to imagine him and de Jong will stay out of the book.

39. 32'

Yaya Toure finds Silva with a superb lofted ball. His first touch is wonderful and he crosses it towards Tevez, Williamson does well to clear.

40. 33'

Coloccini is looking in pain and Sol Campbell is stripped and ready.

41. 34'

Gareth Barry wastes an excellent opening for City, Barry found in acres of space by Milner. Bearing down on goal, Barry looks caught in two minds as whether to shoot or square for Tevez, in the end he achieves neither and Krul blocks his cross come shot.

42. 35'

Sol Campbell on for Fabricio Coloccini

Jerome Boateng involved for the first time, his cross is nearly perfect for the stretching David Silva.

45. 38'

A chance for Newcastle to get the ball into the box, Boateng tugging back Gutierrez.

46. 38'

Jerome Boateng is booked for his cynical challenge.

47. 39'

The cross is a decent one which City struggle to deal with, eventually clearing. The home defence does not look comfortable.

48. 40'

Carlos Tevez is booked after being made to look a fool by Tim Krul, as he drops his shoulder and goes past the Argentinian, who responds by knocking him to the floor.

49. 41'

It really has been an action-packed first half here. Ben Arfa's injury seems eons ago...

52. 44'

The corner is cleared and the danger passes.

53. 45'

    FIVE MINUTES ADDED TIME

54. 45'

It's hardly suprising we have a lot of stoppage time, given the injury to Ben Arfa.

55. 45'

A chance for Newcastle from this corner, earned by Kevin Nolan.

56. 45'

Barry heads clear the corner at the near post. Newcastle still in the City half though.

57. 45'

The challenges are still flying in, Barry thundering into Tiote. The England man then intercepts a poor pass from Gutierrez and looks to break, but Yaya Toure fails to control his pass.

58. 45'

A very ambitious effort from Boateng, cutting inside and shooting from 30 yards. His effort is slow and inaccurate, going wide of the post.

59. 45'

HALF TIME More boos at the City of Manchester Stadium as the Citizens leave the pitch, they've come up against a stubborn Newcastle team this afternoon.

60. 45'

A little fact for you, today is the first time two Argentina internationals have scored in a Premier League game. What a wonderful world we live in.

61. 45'

What can City do in the second half? It will need to be a huge improvement if they are to move up to second in the table.

62. 45'

The teams are back out for the second half, City set to kick off.

63. 45'

KICK OFF The second half begins.

64. 46'

Adebayor has started warming up for City, surely Mancini will contemplate sacrificing one of Toure, Barry or de Jong?

65. 47'

City are keeping possession but they have no real penentration in their midfield. With Adebayor and Adam Johnson on the bench, you would expect changes sooner rather than later.

66. 48'

Lescott does well to dispossess Routledge and prevent they ball going out of play, but with his next touch he rolls the ball over they touchline, rendering all his efforts useless.

67. 49'

Corner to Manchester City, Lescott's cross blocked...

68. 50'

An excellent defensive header from Williamson to clear the cross. The second cross from Milner is straight to Tim Krul.

69. 51'

It's all too easy for Newcastle at the minute, their level and looking very comfortable.

70. 52'

Nearly an opening for Ameobi after good work from him and Gutierrez. As the defence parted in from of him, Ameobi lacked the pace required to threaten and Barry got back to make the tackle.

71. 53'

Another Newcastle chance, a cracking cross from Gutierrez finds Routledge at the back post, who on the stretch can only guide his volley wide.

72. 54'

    Adebayor's arrival is imminent...

73. 54'

First chance of the second half for City and it falls to Tevez. He's left with way too much space on the right-hand side, Barry finds him with a neat pass, the Argentine takes one touch to control and hammers an effort which Tim Krul parries away.

74. 55'

Emmanuel Adebayor on for Yaya Toure

75. 56'

Adebayor is immediately involved, skipping past Campbell but he is unable to keep the ball in play.

76. 57'

David Silva takes a tumble in the box but the referee is having none of it. City's first penalty was lucky enough...

77. 58'

After a fantastically entertaining first half, the second period has been a little bit stale.

78. 59'

Adebayor is looking good, rolling his marker and finding an excellent low cross towards Barry at the back post, Krul is alert to the danger and gathers.

79. 60'

The man from Togo is a little too enthusiastic with his challenge on Enrique, conceding a free kick.

80. 61'

Newcastle have dropped much deeper in the second half. It's prevented City creating chances, but has also stopped Newcastle attacking at all.

81. 62'

Milner with an opening as he free behind the defence, but he's unable to break away from the defenders and is looking very poor today.

82. 63'

James Perch is down and he now looks in pain. Surely he can't be injured as well??!!

83. 64'

Perch is on his feet, but he's moving rather gingerly. It was a nasty challenge from Lescott, who left his foot in on the former Nottingham Forest man.

84. 65'

Luckily for Newcastle Perch has returned and looks to be fine. A massive relief for Chris Hughton.

85. 66'

Adebayor is free behind Sol Campbell only to see the offside flag raised, correctly I may add.

86. 67'

Another dangerous cross from Gutierrez, Kompany heading it clear as far as Routledge. His cross is poor and drifts harmlessly out of play.

87. 68'

    Adam Johnson is being prepared...

88. 69'

Will Johnson be able to provide the cutting edge City have been lacking?

89. 71'

A terrible mix up costs City a chance at taking the the lead! Tevez controls the ball excellently and advances on goal. He shifts it onto his right foot, and when it looks like he's about to pull the trigger, he tries to find Silva with a pass that is over hit. A real waste.

90. 72'

Newcastle have a free kick in a promising position. Barton fires a shot straight into the City wall, he should've done better.

91. 73'

Adam Johnson on for Gareth Barry

92. 73'

Another free kick for a foul on Perch. Barton's delivery is again poor, but de Jong's clearance is worse, falling straight to Gutierrez, whose half volley is hit low and straight at Hart.

93. 74'

GOAL A wonder goal by Adam Johnson! Receiving the ball wide on the right, Johnson waltzes into the box, dipping inside Enrique then Barton and unleashing a wicked drive low into the far corner. Unstoppable.

94. 76'

Andy Carroll on for Kevin Nolan

95. 77'

Martin Atkinson waves away penalty claims from Newcastle. Ameobi looks like he is tripped by Lescott and the referee says no. Newcastle have had some tough luck this afternoon.

96. 78'

Newcastle have not had the rub of the green at all. A dubious penalty given against them, their big summer signing has broken his leg and they've been denied a stonewaller.

97. 80'

Ten minutes to go, can the Toon Army inspire their players into a come back?

98. 81'

They have a chance from this corner...

99. 81'

Barton's delivery has been poor all afternoon and this one is no different, Kompany clearing.

100. 82'

Another corner, Tiote halted by Lescott.

101. 82'

Mike Williamson with a free header six yards out that he can only guide over the bar! Newcastle will not get a better chance than that!

102. 83'

David Silva slips Adebayor in behind the defence, but the City forwatd can't outpace the jet-heeled Sol Campbell, who shepherds the ball back to Krul.

103. 84'

Free kick to City, Tiote in late on Milner.

104. 85'

The free kick is taken quickly as Johnson and Silva combine, the Spaniard firing his shot into the side-netting.

105. 85'

      Patrick Viera on Carlos Tevez

106. 86'

Perch gets forward well and delivers a teasing cross, Carroll can't control the ball and Milner clears.

107. 87'

Routledge is the latest man to attempt a cross, but their delivery has been poor all afternoon.

108. 88'

Last couple of minutes and it looks like City are heading top of the table.

109. 90'

     THREE MINUTES ADDED TIME

110. 90'

Tiote colliding with de Jong, the Dutchman who is now very unpopular among Newcastle fans.

111. 91'

Tiote looked for Carroll at the back post, excellent defending from Boateng, who blocks off the strikers' run.

112. 92'

City have the ball in the Newcastle half and they'll be looking to keep it there.

113. 93'

FULL TIME Manchester City win thanks to Johnson's superb strike and are up to second in the table.
