2. <img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2011/0916/waynerooneycelebvcfcmay11_275x155.jpg"> <br>Wayne Rooney celebrates as a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Old Trafford in May effectively sealed the title for United.

3. Afternoon all - we are just 16 minutes away from kick off as the Premier League champions and runners-up go head-to-head at Old Trafford.

4. As for the teams, Young, Anderson, Jones and Hernandez come in from the side that drew against Benfica. Ferdinand doesn't even make the bench but Fletcher retains his place.

5. As for Chelsea, Terry, Lampard and Ramires return from the midweek game with Leverkusen. Sturridge and Torres start up front.

6. Interesting that David Luiz starts on the bench after his meltdown at Old Trafford last season. Remember him having a slanging match with Carlo Ancelotti on the touchline?

7. Here come the teams. Martin Tyler's obligatory "it's live" is already a distant memory. Let's get it on.....

8. 1'

   <b>KICK OFF</b>

9. 2'

Ball over the top for Hernandez to chase but Cole watches it roll out of play.

10. 3'

A great move from Chelsea as Lampard feeds Cole and his volleyed cross is met by Ramires, forcing De Gea into a save with his feet.

11. 4'

First shaky moment from De Gea who tries to return a pass from Evra but knocks it out of play.

12. 5'

Sloppy from United to give the ball to Torres, Evans tackles him well before Sturridge fires wide. Good start from the visitors.

13. 6'

Aguero on target again to make it Fulham 0-2 Man City.

14. 7'

Free kick for United wide right.

15. 8'

    <img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/goal.gif"> <b>GOAL</b> Smalling nods home!

16. 8'

Smalling rises highest to nod into the net and that is a great start for United.

17. 9'

A lovely glancing header from Smalling, who looked like he was half a yard offside. No-one marking him. Shoddy defending.

18. 10'

Aguero's double this afternoon at Fulham has drawn him level with Rooney as the Premier League's top scorer on eight.

19. 10'

Chelsea try to hit back as Sturridge gets in the area and wins a corner off Evans.

20. 11'

Terry wins a header at the back post but De Gea claims, then Bosingwa's cross goes behind for a goal kick.

21. 12'

Anderson gives the ball away and Torres is in, he ducks the other way past Evans before scuffing it wide. Not good.

22. 13'

A waste from Nani as Mata loses possession. Hernandez was backpost but Nani couldn't find him. Then Chelsea break and Lampard wins a corner.

23. 14'

Ivanovic meets the corner but heads right at De Gea.

24. 15'

Lovely work between Young and Evra but Bosingwa blocks the cross.

25. 16'

Goals elsewhere. Sunderland now lead Stoke 4-0 and Fulham have pulled one back against Man City, 1-2 now.

26. 17'

Terry was furious when the goal went in. Smalling was left totally unmarked by Lampard and had all the time in the world to pick his spot.

27. 18'

Phil Dowd has a word with Ashley Cole after he clips Nani and unleashes a predictable volley of dissent.

28. 19'

Rooney spreads the free kick wide, Nani crosses and Evans keeps it alive and as Lampard tries to head away he manages to get his hand out of the way just in time.

29. 20'

Better from Chelsea as Mata feeds Bosingwa but his cross finds no-one. Sturridge volleys the clearance wide. He's very greedy that lad.

30. 21'

Chance for Lampard now as Meireles finds him running into the area but he can't wrap his foot round the ball enough to get it on target.

31. 22'

Torres drops deep to try and make an impact but brings Jones down as he tries to take him on.

32. 23'

Fantastic ball from Nani as Hernandez scampered into the box but the Mexican can't bring the ball down.

33. 25'

More good delivery from Nani wide right, Rooney tries to volley home but Chelsea clear.

34. 26'

It has to be 1-1! Torres gets in behind Smalling and pulls the ball across for Ramires who has the goal at his mercy but somehow he hits it at De Gea who was flying across goal.

35. 27'

Ramires caught the ball on his heel as he was stretching for it and that meant the angle took it back across goal and into De Gea's path.

36. 28'

An excellent opening half hour of football.

37. 29'

Great tracking back from Young who shields the ball from Bosingwa before teeing it up and overhead-kicking clear.

38. 30'

An ambitious overhead kick from Torres as Sturridge crosses. It squirts wide. Very difficult skill to master.

39. 31'

De Gea again uncomfortable with a backpass, giving it to Jones who was quickly closed down.

40. 32'

Sturridge fires an effort right at De Gea. He brought a cross down well and then hit a half-volley right at the keeper.

41. 33'

Ivanovic is down and United curtail their attack.

42. 34'

Rooney gets past Ivanovic and has a pop but opts for a curler rather than a power effort. Wide.

43. 35'

More good news for United - Fulham have equalised against City. Danny Murphy with it.

44. 37'

    <img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/goal.gif"> <b>GOAL</b> What a goal from Nani!

45. 37'

That was ridiculous! He stpes past Mata as if he wasn't there, then past Meireles before slamming a shot right into the top corner. Ronaldo-esque.

46. 38'

Funny I should say that - Nani has now got the same amount of goals in his first 100 Premier League games as Ronaldo did.

47. 39'

Young gets round Bosingwa and crosses but Cech meets it. Chelsea are rocking here.

48. 40'

A rather weak effort from Ashley Cole. Chelsea have been decent going forward but United have been ruthless.

49. 41'

Another half chance for Ramires as he meets Cole's cross on the edge of the box but it is on his weaker foot and he blazes over.

50. 42'

Lots of work for AVB to do at half time.

51. 43'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2011/0918/chrissmallinggoalvcfc_275x155.jpg"> <br>Manchester United defender Chris Smalling heads in the opening goal against Chelsea.

52. 44'

Sturridge's ball for Ramires is a touch behind the midfielder and Fletcher gets back successfully.

53. 45'

    <img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/goal.gif"> <b>GOAL</b> Rooney!

54. 45'

Game over. Rooney profits from a very lucky deflection as Terry tries to clear in his box - the ball hits Nani and rolls square for Rooney who tucks it home.

55. 45'

<b>HALF TIME</b> Well, on this evidence Manchester United are head and shoulders above everybody else in the league bar City. They lead by three, have been utterly ruthless again and Chelsea must be wondering what has hit them.

56. There are still two games ongoing in the Premier League, with Man City being held 2-2 at Fulham. Our <a href="http://soccernet.espn.go.com/scores/_/league/eng.1/barclays-premier-league?cc=5739" target="_blank">live scores page is here</a>.

59. <img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2011/0918/ramiresmissedchance_275x155.jpg"> <br>Chelsea's Ramires lies dejected on the floor after missing a chance on goal.

60. <img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Anelka is on for Lampard.

61. 46'

    We start again....

62. 46'

    <img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/goal.gif"> <b>GOAL</b> Torres scores!

63. 46'

What a ball from Anelka in behind Jones and Torres flicks beautifully over De Gea. Game back on?

64. 47'

That finish from Torres was very tidy. An expert dink over De Gea. That will give Chelsea belief.

65. 48'

The run to get there was impressive too.

66. 49'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> A ridiculous booking for Ramires after he slides in on Rooney and wins the ball. Dowd got that wrong.

67. 50'

Now Mata is close to profiting from a Meireles ball over the top. United poor in possession to give the ball away.

68. 51'

Another fine run from Nani as he beats Bosingwa and Meireles but can't find Hernandez with the cross.

69. 52'

A cross into the box but Jones nudges Torres off the ball.

70. 53'

Acres of space for Young and Rooney finds him but Bosingwa gets back in the nick of time.

71. 54'

Now Mata has a go on goal and De Gea saves low down at the near post. Corner.

72. 55'

    Man Utd penalty!

73. 55'

An incredible passage of play as Nani breaks donwfield, smacks a ball against the crossbar then Bosingwa dives into get the ball as Nani lines up the rebound, takes the man but also some of the ball and Dowd says pen.

74. 57'

Rooney misses! He slips and screws it wide!

75. 57'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> A carbon copy of what happened to John Terry in Moscow! Speaking of Terry, he was booked for arguing with the ref after the penalty was awarded.

76. 58'

Lovely interplay now as Rooney dummies a pass, gets the return from Hernandez and tries to return the favour but Ramires is across to boot clear.

77. 59'

This game has had just about everything - except a red card.

78. 60'

Excellent ball from Mata over the top but Jones is across to make sure Torres can't get on the end of it.

79. 61'

Anelka's ball to the back post is missed by everyone and Sturridge ghosts in at the back but can't quite decide what to hit the bouncing ball with and ends up nudging it wide.

80. 62'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Changes for Man Utd as Smalling and Anderson depart - Valencia and Carrick come on.

81. 64'

A poor attack from Chelsea as Mata and Anelka waste good possession when there were plenty of blue shirts in the box.

82. 65'

Rooney's free kick is blocked, as is his follow up and Young settles for a corner.

83. 66'

The corner goes short, Young eventually crosses and Jones glances wide.

84. 67'

Excellent clearing header from Carrick - running back towards his own goal to clear Meireles' cross.

85. 68'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Sturridge goes off and Lukaku comes on.

86. 69'

The new man nearly makes an immediate impace as Evra prevents Lukaku turning Mata's near post cross beyond De Gea.

87. 70'

From the corner Terry gets a free header but Anelka can't poke it home.

88. 71'

Two glorious chances for Torres - he turns well to unleash a shot on goal that De Gea saves and when the rebound comes back he volleys over from 12 yards out.

89. 72'

At the other end Young gets to the byline and crosses, Ivanovic blocks with his elbow but a corner is given.

90. 73'

Ivanovic cuts out a ball meant for Hernandez and strides forward, blasting a shot well wide from 30 yards.

91. 75'

Chelsea have had double the attempts on goal Man Utd have. 18-9.

92. 76'

Rooney hits the post! He scuffs Evra's cross onto the far post before Hernandez blasts the rebound wide and is caught by a lunging block from Cole.

93. 77'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> Cole is now booked for his attempted block. The replay shows how bad it was. It was a leg-breaker. Doesn't stop Cole moaning, of course.

94. 79'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/subs.gif"> Meireles is replaced by Mikel and Hernandez goes off to be replaced by Berbatov.

95. 80'

<img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/gp10/i/yellow_card.jpg" height="15"> Valencia is now carded for bumping into Torres. Bit harsh, Phil.

96. 81'

Hernandez gets a rousing reception as he finally makes his way to the tunnel, limping heavily after that Cole challenge.

97. 82'

What with his penalty miss and hitting the post, Rooney could have had his third hat-trick in a row.

98. 83'

Oh goodness gracious me! Torres gets clean through, rounds De Gea and from seven yards out with an open goal he has missed. Oh dear, dear me.

99. 84'

That could come to define his Chelsea career. What an unbelievable miss. He was level with the post and heading away from goal but how can you not score that when you are worth £50m?!

100. 85'

Good break from United ends with Nani crossing for Rooney to head right at Cech. Still can't get over that Torres miss.

101. 86'

The game looks up now - had Torres scored it would have been 3-2 with seven minutes to go. Instead, his entire team are reeling from his catastrophic miss.

102. 87'

     <img src="http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2011/0918/nanicelebvcfc_275x155.jpg"> <br>Nani celebrates his 25-yard strike against Chelsea.

103. 88'

One wonders if that miss will destroy the confidence Torres had slowly been building back up.

104. 90'

     Five minutes of added time.......

105. 91'

Another open goal miss from six yards! This time Berbatov after Rooney went clean through. Rooney squares it but the pass is heavy and Cole can slide back and block Berbatov's weak effort, then collide with the post.

106. 92'

Anelka's run is tracked by Carrick and Chelsea win a corner.

107. 93'

Ivanovic's header is cleared by Evra.

108. 94'

An aimless ball from Anelka tells you the game is all but up.

109. 95'

<b>FULL TIME</b> An excellent match ends with a fifth straight Premier League win for Manchester United. Chelsea were good, as was Torres, but they couldn't finish their chances - Torres the worst culprit with a miss we will see for years and years. Nani, Rooney excellent again and United go two clear of City at the top.
